Crary Air Reel plus a set of Grain Grabbers on the flighting and you will wonder how you ever survived without! I had each of the aforementioned on a 500 series Gleaner 20 foot platform and I am a believer 110%.
I would like an air reel or air bar but I can't justify it with my acres at this point. Do you know anything about an Orbit Reel? I can swing buying an Orbit Reel but really am not sure how effective they are. Thanks.
I ended up speeding it up. I like to run the reel at no more than 25% faster than ground speed but I ended up going to at least 50% faster than ground speed. The stems were so tough that I was forced to speed the reel up. It worked out with very little sickle shatter. Everyone in my area was having trouble feeding these extra tough stems this year. My one neighbor could only go 2 mph with his 9600 Deere with 30 foot flex head and a friend of mine could only do about 3 mph with his S680 and 35 foot draper with an air bar. It was just a really tough year for beans but we all had exceptional good yields too.

It's cheaper to buy another used head with that stuff on it

To be honest you want the cylinder to do the threshing not the reel that is what causes shatter loss and can get them if they on the ground
