Love Cziffra's lightness, elegance and sheer technical facility, bordering nonchalance. It shows in not only his Liszt but also his Scarlatti -- who knew?
Incredible , ravishing AND DELICAcy , timeless phrases where the beat lives but one feels no pulse (impossible to do ! )Scarlatti from the great Lisztian . He was around when Lewenthal (decades after Busoni and Egon Petri programmed him )started the craze for Alkan . I wonder what he thought of te Berlioz of the piano since he lived in France (Senlis I believe and the abbye) so long .
I deleted to sonata in E major from the video as it sadly isn't played by Cziffra but by Lajos Hernádi.. That LP featured several Scarlatti sonatas and other works by several artists. Cziffra played all sonatas on that album except for the E major one.. surprising to me aswell as it quite sounds like Cziffra. Hernádi aswell studied with Dohnányi. Diamond cut brilliance. Great to have all Cziffra's Scarlatti recordings together.

k159 is amazing... up there with Michelangeli
even though ABM is unmatched when it comes to clarity, even against the great virtuoso that Cziffra was!
Mindig csodáltam!
It was Scarlatti, and the others.
