- Been wanting to dye my hair purple but I'm scared to bleach my dark hair. I'm afraid of the damage. I found this dye that claimed to be able to give me the color I want without stripping my hair first. So come along with me as I try it out!
Okay. I can honestly say, this was the best video I've seen on this hair color tutorial. You went through the box and even started with your normal hair color! Love love love. (:

You also included how long you kept the dye in (you gave it a fair shot with the 2 hrs 😉) It looks great!! Your hair color is similar to mine, so I’ll definitely be replicating this when I dye my hair with Splat Midnight Amethyst!
Can i finally say this is the first time i seen a video that the person has some music on it and i can still hear what she is saying!! Like all those other videos they had background music but when they talked it was so hard to even understand. Loved this video!

Wow I'm just trying it right now! It's sitting in my hair! My natural color is dark blond. I'm praying mine comes out looking great. Coloring mine for Sarcoidosis Awareness Month!
Best to use a color protectant shampoo and conditioner it definitely will help out with the the Semi-Perm hair products. Also wash with lukewarm water.
Lastly with the length of your hair if you decide to dye it again I would definitely use the whole bottle your hair should be fully saturated pretty much wet all the way through also a lot of beauticians will suggest to wrap the head in foil before putting on the shower cap. Your hair looks great. Loved the subtle purple tint.

This is a nice video because I was going to buy the exact same shade but i opted for feria deepest violet. I saw reviews a moment ago for the feria and a lot were disappointing.
My hair color is very similar to yours but I also have slightly lighter highlights.

I feel like possibly you didnt use enough. I'm dying my hair the ruby one and it's been in for about 2 hrs. I'm going to keep it in for a while long. I also used the whole bottle and I cut my hair so it's not that long.

You didn't get your roots very well but overall it came out nice! I'm glad I watched this video because I have been looking for a dye that would make my hair purple like this. I like how it's noticiable but not too noticicible. If that makes any sense. Lol
My hair is darker then yours so I think before I use this I think I'll slightly lighten my hair with peroxide and baking soda.
Art Is A Passion 24 I used this dye before and I have dark dark brown hair and well it showed inside it doesn’t really show but outside daaanng it’s bright I recommend using this if you have dark hair.
So the peroxide and baking soda works with dark hair 😂😂😂 because mines is like blackish brown type of color and was thinking of getting the splat midnight ruby one
jasmine mercer mine is super dark at the roots and the ruby color showed so beautifully!! It’s currently fading at the moment and i dyed it first time late September 2018 and then late December 2018. Now I’m trying this amethyst color. I really liked the ruby one because it showed really vibrant and nice on my roots :)

jasmine mercer I did an ombré starting from my neck to the end of my hair length (almost waist length) because I thought the lighter, the better. The top of my hair and bangs(very dark/ black hair) have not touched any bleach and the dye seemed to stay very well on there. Yet as time went by, I noticed the color faded quickly with the brighter blonde aka the bottom. I recently cut my hair to my bra strap length. The point is I believe it will work on dark brown the best!! I hope I helped! Also cold showers are worth it to keep the color sealed in better 😁

I wish that I would've seen this video before I bought the dye. I can't see any purple. I have to struggle to see a slight barely any hint of it. The video was helpful

Siobyan Beale yes I did have to bleach...the splat left me with a glazed or tint of purple...but wanted more dramatic color and the only way to get the shade I wanted was to bleach it to near blonde and then color. I’m actually super surprised that my hair is still soft and my curls still pop after the bleach. I definitely recommend going to a pro for special colors.

I have a question. In the instructions it said that the shampoo can not have sulfate. Did yours have sulfate?? Cause this is my 3rd time trying and I don’t wanna mess up again

did this dye stain everything when your hair was wet/damp? i’ve heard that dye stains everything, but i just want to make sure
Yes, everything, also get prepared to be staining your hands every time you touch your hair, i had to use gloves for a few days and believe me I washed my hair very well and still dye was coming out... you know what is the worst, I left it for 3 hours and my hair got just deep black no change at all how I wanted it or how they say us dark hair girls will get it after dye it. this dye is really strong I had to sleep whit black shirt and cover my pillow whit balck pillowcase... imo I do not recommend this
Lava soap cleans my hands tubs counters floor even my white bball shorts when they all were stained with the splat red ruby midnight one

How long does it stay for
Stay Woke is right should be about 30 washes. As a curly girl I only was my hair 1-2 times a week depending on product buildup so I would say about 2 months.

Miri Meerkat Seriously? Oh my goodness do you have fine hair and did you use bleach because I thought this particular product does not use bleach and it is semi permanent
S Lee no I did not use bleach. The dye suffocated my scalp and that's what caused it to fall out. Along with purple flecks of scalp. And yes I do have fine hair which made it even worse for me.

Yes so it didn't last vert long...but it was just an experiment to see if i liked the purple before committing to it with my stylist. Thanks for watching!

When I dye my hair, I usually wash it the day before so the dye holds on really well.
You know I've thought about doing that especilly since as a curly girl the product I use have oils in then....but then I go back to always being told that coloring is best done on dirty hair. I'll give it a try.

That’s not how the color is supposed to come out... probably because it had no bleach to lighten your dark hair
KITKAT I understand your point but I know the product is supposed to be specifically for brunette hair and no bleaching required. And it also states on the box it may not work on black colored hair.
