  • Target announced that it's closing nine locations across the U.S. effective Oct. 21, including the Portland Galleria, Powell and Hollywood stores. These people wanted unarmed security guards to stand at their entrances and prevent the blatant theft that was on the rise in and around downtown Portland. Several employees have been stabbed, threaten and so on, just for getting in their way. Instead of making a bottle neck at the entrance with armed security, they wanted a unarmed security guard to risk their health and safety doing what already failed.
4 years later, look at this place.

Typical bot regurgitating that BS. Maybe educate yourself. Same thing is happening in states with Republican governors. And in fact these issues are happening because of Republican governors not investing in services to help drug addicts, to help the mentally ill, to help the homeless, instead they're just shipping them elsewhere. Facts show that crime, homelessness and drug addiction are most prevalent in Republican led states. States like California, New York and Oregon aren't even in the top 10 states with most drug addiction. Florida and Texas are in top 4 states with most homelessness. Maybe instead of spreading that Republican garbage educate yourself about facts and about how addiction, crime and homelessness don't know political views, they happen everywhere.

I've lived in the Portland area most of my life and lived in the city of Portland for 20 years.
The downward spiral of Portland and other West Coast cities like Seattle, Oakland, LA and of course San Francisco, can be directly attributed to the stupidity and willful ignorance of the voters in those cities.
Being "progressive" sounds nice and virtuous on paper to young and naive minds who haven't actually put any real thought into these complex social issues, but as we have learned over the past 20 years, these so-called progressive policies have failed at every level.
The biggest challenge facing these cities now is not the actual issues, but the refusal of these so-called progressive voters to acknowledge their own ideas and beliefs don't work in the real world. It seems to me that portlanders are going to have to watch this city burn to the ground or become a ghost town from retail theft before they actually begin questioning their voting. This town is filled with self-righteous narcissists who would almost rather die than admit they were wrong.
