After 2009, flat screens television began taking over. I noticed beginning in the early 2010s that flat screen television started becoming more common. This explains why.
I miss analog TV so much, it was simple, now traditional TV has / is being replaced by a billion streaming services, i still watch VHS, i have over a thousand VHS tapes in my collection to watch from, and it keeps growing.
I had just turned 20 a month earlier and was working as a removalist around this time. You don't realise the change until some years later where it hits you like a brick wall at 100mph one day and just strikes you like "what the fu-". Crazy as.
I was most likely already out for the summer (early June is when school used to end in my district. Though for the seniors, school ended in late May). Started 1st grade in Fall 2009.
The analog TV shut down didn't happen where live until about 2 years after the one in the US. One thing that I remember from that day was making my mom spend like $1000 on a 42" Sony LED TV to replace my Grandpa's 30" Trinitron because he was tired of seeing the black bars on some of his favourite channels. Sadly, the Trinitron was thrown away and some kid probably threw a sledge hammer at it while trespassing a dumpster.
Some smaller cable companies still had analog up for a while time warner did in North Carolina til 2014 my cousins had it and I remember it being up for a while.

I feel like nobody talks about how much the world changed in the 2000s which is weird cause it’s kinda mind blowing how much different technology was in 2000 vs 2009.
I remember when the government gave everyone so much money for the box,I had cable at the time and had an old school TV a little after that,then I got a flat screen that was given to us but we still had cable,I got my divorce in 2017 and decided to get rid of cable,the ex got the flat screen,I got another one and no need for a digital box,it is built in,I now have a flat screen in the living room and my bedroom,no cable just digital.

I wish it was still around in my area there's bad reception with digital I have wi fi and cable so I'm good but analog has so many other channels to offer .. nothing like the good old days just sticking a coat hanger as n antenna had direct tv in the living room all analog tvs in rooms man the Simpsons at 11 after the news mad tv on Sat , Americas most wanted , paraside hotel, the simple life all free Telemundo man ..

I was only 4 when this happened so I honestly don't remember this. I do know my family continued to have an analog TV up until I was about 12.
Definetly remember this day! Even the old KNX sounds & news bits are nostalgic & I vaguely remember them too!
