    Actually, working better when you improve together. Thanks.

    All the best in your new correction, Gem!Yeah, you covered my concerns. I hope to be more functional without glasses. I'm still a little fussy on laptop use, although we are around the same diopter range as certain colour text just doesn't focus so well and the profile pic etc. I am only comfortable with black text on white background.

    Hi Gemily,
    Scientific information:
    Two normal eyes, can have a Difference, of one Diopter.
    As you keep that that minus off your face, both eyes IMPROVE TOGETHER.
    The DMV says, one eye, 20/70, other eye, 20/40.
    This means that the DMV accepts a difference of one Diopter as totally normal.
    When you reach that point, then trash your current prescription.
    Then buy driving glasses of -1 Diopters, for driving, only.
    MOST IMPORTANT:
    Glad to see that you have that Snellen up in bright light.
    Now, get close to reading the 20/60 line.

    I can't wait for that liberation of being glasses free more often. I LOVE that the "tag-in" is working for you 😀

    Gem,
    You do what I did.
    A lot of experimental measurements
    I just wish I could have helped you when you were 20/50.
    Then, you could have improved to 20/30.

    Hi Gemily,
    Both my eyes improved together.
    From 20/60, to 20/40, then finally to 20/25.
    Keep up your excellent work!

    Thanks for showing us Reannon's channel, I follow all the EM channels I can and wasn't aware of that one.

      Reannon shares really solid info. I love her channel. In one of my other videos (Why I Make EM Student Videos) I share a lot of other EM student channels - I list them all in the description of the video too, with links, so if you want to see if you have missed any more, have a peep here: th-cam.com/video/6imleQGSEbU/w-d-xo.html

    Always of my interest.
    So you can read the Big E, or 20/200.
    NORMALIZED:
    If you can read 20/15, to 20/10, you are totally over prescribed.
    This is where I would use a "minum minus 1", to see if I could read the 20/40 line.
    That would become my "normalized", to work on my recovery.
    As always, having different ideas, promotes the growth of science.
    If it were me, I would wear a -1 Diopter around the house, and see if I could confirm 20/60, with them in Sunlight.
    As always, Jake is right.
    Recovery at +0.75 Diopters per year.
    Frankly, a minus lens always destroys naked eye vision.
    I wish I had been offered a prevention choice when I was 20/50.
    I feel cheated by the, "anti scientific system", that exists in Optometry.

    I'm glad you try to stay without glasses! My gf is - 1,75r, -1,25left and wear glasses only for driving or watch tv , she is not impaired at all💪💪💪

    Hello Gem! Thanks for your video 😍 i hope that you can get those eyes equalized and that the choice will work for you :)
    Just out of curiosity can you please share the snellen score for your left eye with the -2.00 and the -1.75? Thanks a lot

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I finally checked! (Couldn't find where I hid my -1.75--2 glasses.
      On the Snellen, with -2 correction, my left eye can confidently read 20/20, with a little double vision just noticeable on that 20/20 line. It can also hesitantly (but correctly) read the 20/15 line, but the DV does make it a challenge at that size.
      In -1.75 correction, my left eye can read the 20/20 line still, but with more double vision, and the double vision starts being noticeable at the 20/30 line.

    I have a question, I hope you would respond. When doing active focus while reading, do you have to keep reading the blurry text or you need to wait for the text to clear up?

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Active focus isn't actually about reading or text - texr is just a good stimulus because it is high contrast and our brains already know what it should look like. The goal in active focus if to find some improvement, so it doesn't have to be crystal clear. However, if you keep reading with blur you may end up with a headache. I find it much better to bring the book/text a little bit closer so I can AF it to reasonable clarity. And the clarity comes in and out of focus - it isn't a matter of clearing it up and then it is clear now - you may have to keep clearing it up over and over.

    • @bvwan
      @bvwan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GemilyMez oh okay. By the way, to do AF, I need to bring the text away until it gets a little blurry and try to focus on a word? And what do I do when it clears up but get blurry again? Do I need to keep focusing or move the text a little father again?

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bvwan Just keep focusing - no need to move the text further again. Feel free to play around, but in the end, clear a little blur and try to hold the clarity - that is where the challenge is, not so much in clearing more and more blur in one session.

    • @bvwan
      @bvwan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GemilyMez how would I hold the clarity? And how to do the distance vision because I joined the discord you put in the description and one of them mentioned that doing distance vision improves your vision better or faster I guess. Anyway, thay you for responding to my questions that I know is a lot. I really appreciate it :)

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bvwan To hold the clarity takes practise, so don't worry if you have difficulty with it - in that case just keep trying to bring it into focus over and over again. I find holding clarity is a matter of relaxing - keep telling your eyes to "relax, relax, relax" and remember to breathe too. Every time you do that you will get a little better at holding the clarity - but it may take a few weeks to notice that you are getting better - just like every push up you do makes your arms stronger, but you don't notice that every single time you do a push up.
      As for distance vision, yeah, if you want to improve your distance vision, the best thing you can do is use your distance vision. I find my improvements are actually best when I am including distance active focus and print pushing active focus in my day. Distance vision active focus is very similar - you'd want to be wearing a slight undercorrection (normalised glasses) and find something in the distance that is a little blurry - again, when you are beginning, text is best, so find a street sign or a number plate, and see if you can improve the clarity just a bit.

    Congrats! I just reduced my left because I had incorrectly created a 0.50 difference when my eyes are closer to 0.25 different. They are approx. 0.33 different. I was going to wait another month but I'm so glad I didn't. I tortured myself walking outside in the snow in my differentials for hours before putting on my new normalized. I reduced both at the same time too because it was just a single eye reduction.
