I bet you could get a LOT of money for the dress second hand, as I'm guessing a lot of people want the dress, but don't want to spend the $300 on the doll. If I were you, I would list it really high with a best offer and see what response you get. As always, thanks for the sharing the eye and skin color comparisons. Always interesting.
Thanks Beth! The comparisons with other dolls is always something I like to see and I always find it interesting. I was expecting her base to look much more like 116 so I'm pleasantly surprised at the differences. And yes, I think I will wait on selling it but I'm sure I could fetch a decent amount for it if I decide to.
I'm not a big Disney princess person to start with, so this release wasn't something I was overly giddy about. That being said...I would rather customize an existing doll to my tastes to be whatever character I wanted her to be than to spend $300 on a doll that doesn't appeal to me or is released with a cheaply made or poorly designed outfit.
That’s totally valid! I’ve seen a lot of amazing Rapunzels created around AGIG. The only thing that would be hard to recreate is the length of her wig. Jasmine or Belle on the other hand would be much easier. In fact, Oh Deer Custom Dolls made a version of Jasmine that is super pretty!
This was such a great review, Evelyn! ❤❤❤ I agree with all the points you made, the positive and the critical. She is a gorgeous doll, and the materials used plus QC should have been much higher. I am not really a big fan of ballgown dresses on my AG dolls, so I prefer her redressed. I don't plan to buy any of them myself, yet I love seeing them in videos. I think AG might have used the Sonali mold for Jasmin because of her Arabian/ Middle-Eastern heritage. I think Corinne and Nanea faces might have been looking more Chinese/Japanese/Polynesian. Rapunzel was my personal favorite of the 3, and Belle was my least favorite. I could buy a Belle gown on Amazon and put it on Maritza, and have almost the same doll! Anyway, thanks for all the comparison photos, I loved seeing them! 💖 (BTW, I have been watching yours on my big screen TV, which makes the whole experience even better. Your photos are so crisp and clear! And my entire screen is filled with these fabulous images of yours. What camera/settings do you use? I film all mine on my android phone, so I struggle with sizing of my) videos😢
Awww thank you so much!! And yes - I do believe that is why they used the Sonali mold for her and it's the only way I could justify the use of it. Although, I would have much preferred that they use a face mold that *looks* like Jasmine instead, hence my desire for the Nanea/Corinne molds. Jasmine has such beautiful eyes and the Sonali mold eye shape pales in comparison. And that's good to hear the footage still looks good on a big screen, because I just film with my iPhone! I take all of my pictures and video with an iPhone 14 pro max and don't do much with the settings. I think that you should be able to set your phone to film in HD if it doesn't already. It might just be the age of your phone. Not to worry though, your videos still look great! ❤️❤️

I would leave it in the braid but I know after like maybe 6 months I’d get too tempted and eventually take the braids out. It doesn’t seem like too hard of a braid to recreate so that’s awesome 🤗
For Christmas I either want Lila or i'll customize that blonde marie grace face mold tm to be Rapunzel! The dress is pretty cheap. Keep the doll and sell the outfit (maybe not the crown). Btw, I love your channel! You have such a soothing voice!

I'm obsessed with her dress and everything about it. It did no wrong to me at all hahaha however, the fly aways are annoying-- I agree!!! However, they do actually show the fly aways in the up-close photos on AG's website. I haven't taken mine out of her box yet but I did plan on it at some point--good to know how difficult it is 😅

Hi Evelyn, what a beautiful doll. I’m so happy that you removed her from box and especially that you changed her clothes too. These dolls should be loved and played with even if they are expensive. Since you went that far, I say why not take her hair out of the braid too! I bet she has wonderful hair. If you do please show us!🥰

I completely agree about Jasmine. I was actually thinking months before they released Disney princesses, how nice would it be if they came up with a completely new mold representing Arabic/Middle Eastern heritage, of which Jasmine is. I was thinking about customizing a doll to make her look like one of my favorite singers who has Iranian ancestry and I don’t see any mold suitable for this project. Nanea would be closest, but not quite. I feel like for special releases, and considering the price, they should have come up with new unique molds to make it truly special otherwise it’s just lazy. Thank you again for sharing, she is stunning regardless!
You’re so right - and how amazing would it be for a new mold for that very reason. Sonali was made to represent an Indian character but we really have nothing as far as Middle Eastern dolls. There are some that could work but I would love to see a Middle Eastern character.

I love her outfit. I think she has the prettiest of the 3. Her outfit would be one of the main reasons I would get her. You received such a pretty one. Congrats!! :) I have seen so many photos where the eyes/glitter makeup are so tragic looking. Because returns are not allowed, I don’t think I can chance buying these Disney dolls even though Rapunzel and Belle are 2 of my favorite princesses. I took a gamble on the toy soldier doll since it appeared from photos I’d seen that there was a very small chance of getting a wonky/defective doll and I think I got a pretty good one. I absolutely love the cute dress you put your Rapunzel in. In regards to the other 2 dolls, I agree with your assessments. I think the Belle doll is kind of plain and easy to replicate and I dislike her outfit. I really like Jasmine’s outfit but I dislike the doll. I think the new Sonali mold looks kind of cross eyed. I think the 3 princesses they chose to make is also very random. I think it would have been super cool if they had chosen Tiana. She is in my top 3 with Belle and Ariel. Plus, a thought that popped into my head is I think it would have been kind of neat since the company is called American Girl and Tiana I think is the only princess whose story takes place in the US. Merida would also have been really cool. A very curly red wig with maybe Saige’s or Kit’s eyes and the classic or Marie Grace mold with light freckles. I have so many thoughts about this line. I love Disney. Oh well. I think you did such a great job reviewing this doll! :)

Rapunzel is definitely my favorite of the three, despite the fact that Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie (well… as an adult it’s had to compete with Lilo and Stitch and Frozen) and Beauty and the Beast was the first movie I saw at the theater. I love her freckles and she’s a beautiful doll though I agree with every piece of criticism you have! I do think the couple of photos I’ve seen of Jasmine on agig have looked better than the stock images but I still don’t like her as much as I wish I did. Overall, my favorite of this year’s dolls is still the toy soldier!
Oh yes the toy soldier doll... she is such a gorgeous doll and I have some serious FOMO going on. I really don't like her outfit or theme though, unfortunately. With Rapunzel, I love the whole package (minus a few knit-picks), so she made the most sense. All three of the princess dolls look better on AGIG than in the stock photos, but I feel like the opposite is true with the toy soldier doll. I would have been so much more likely to get her had she actually had light blue eyes.
I got her for my birthday too! I had the same thoughts of leaving her in the box/her original meet outfit but her hair was popping out of the braid--not as bad as being stuck on the earring though xD So I'll change mine eventually now.
I love how they did jasmine but the stock images make her eyebrows look like mine when I was 13 trying to figure out how to fill them in for the first time 😭
I absolutely love Rapunzel! I got all three of these and love them all. I would never change them out of their original outfits as these are collectibles to me. I love all of their dresses and all of their crowns. To me they look gorgeous and they are Disney Princesses. I would definitely not take the braid down. She would not look like Rapunzel any longer. Just my opinion. I think they did an amazing job with every single one of these dolls. Sonali mold in my opinion is the perfect choice for her. Perfect in every way. Nanea nor Corrine would have not been a good choice. They would not match who Jasmine is. Thanks for your video. ❤

I love them all but I do absolutely agree with you on the face molds! In my eyes I think Rapunzel with Marie-Grace works very well but it could've been the classic mold but I'm also glad it isn't. I think Jasmine definitely should have used Corinne's face mold or even Addys they just use the Sonali one so much! Belle does just look like many other dolls because of how much the Josefina mold is used and I think Nanea or the Jess Mold would've worked better for her.

That's a great point! Mine's hand has gotten stuck in her hair and pulled hair from the braid already so I may end up taking it out for fun. I'm with you - I want to ENJOY the hair, too!
I am very disappointed in this doll US $300 dollars which is $459,62cents AUD dollars at this price the doll should be perfect, when I buy a collector doll it stays in the box , I have a rule will never have more then 12 that I keep in their boxes they never come out to play, I have two that I don't keep in the box, I call them my play dolls I use them to design my collections as I fashion design love doing doll size first well each to their own lol
Oh absolutely! It makes me wonder where their QC is done. In the factory? Warehouse? There has to be a better system for quality checking. $300 is too much to spend for there to be flaws.
