Imagine stumbling around Bonnaroo looking for meaning in your life and you hear this in the distance. I was drawn in like a Tom & Jerry cartoon where someone smells a freshly baked pie.
I was stumbling around trying to find the stage while tripping balls and ended up seeing the final 10 minutes. Imagine a pasty kid from Baltimore pelvic thrusting and pumping his arms, and you'll have an idea of how much fun I was having. I ended up peaking during Muse. I swear to god, when they were playing Uprising and Knights of Cydonia, I wasn't just feeling rebellious defiance, I *was* rebellious defiance.
i was doing security that night had no clue who he was. I remember looking at the guard next to me when Sturgill took the stage, we shrugged and then .....Boom!
Saw him with Willie last weekend......Sturgill was THE concert. Thanks to TH-cam, I stumbled across him about a year ago and now I've become an alcoholic
Tate Rodriguez I was at Willie's Picnic too. His performance was amazing. I wish that he'd had more time on stage. I have been hoping that somebody would upload some video of it. Since he's picked up the lead guitar I think that his talents are only going to get better with time.
@@RyRyFungi i think thats why hes done making country music, hes ready to slay on the guitar. Makes me sad a little but you noticed it all too well the last album wasnt so much country at all.
Best guitarist out there making music these days. Good songwriter and good sound. awesome band. His original style and developing into one of best Jam bands.
I saw him open for Guns N Roses last year, what a trip! I expected a bigger backing band, but this was it. They were unbelievably tight. I think he did his whole set on the same Strat. They just jammed it out on a sticky August night. Unreal.
I just wanna say, I'm a lucky bastard and LIVE here in Manchester where they have Bonnaroo, I was standing in this field waiting on Muse when I first saw Sturgill, I feel lucky that this was the first performance of his I was present for. He is easily becoming my favorite artist, If I had to be shot into space with only three playlists, it would be Sturgill, Tool, and Radiohead. no question.
@@allenbetz1175 lmao to be honest man I can't for the life of me figure out why I said it was 5 years ago, I think I was mixing this up with the first year he played in 2015, even though I didn't see that show. I must have wrote this on a good night, I've been to Roo every year so I think it gets blurry after a while lol
I remember seeing him at Firefly .. Its amazing how far he has come and with the winning of a few awards his ticket prices skyrocketed. Im happy for this guy !! Even though you might not understand what he says at times, it just sounds soooo good !!!
Just another example of how Sturgill (hopefully) is the Country of the future! He is WITHOUT a doubt the best guitar man out there.. even Chris Stapleton thinks so! and yes, I too DO have a crush on him! My old man knows it and is cool with it!
Karen Brooks I wouldn’t agree country of the future as the majority of ‘country’ fans just want that red dirt, lacking real content Nashville bullshit pop music they play on CMT. Sturgill is a musician and artist, not a performer like the mainstream. He’s appreciated by people who like real music:)
Finally caught a Sturgill performance at Willie's 4th of July Picnic. I wasn't sure what to expect hearing that he had picked up lead guitar. I wish that he'd had more time up on stage. This guy is just going to get better with age. I was trying to see if anybody has uploaded anything from Willie's. I find this to be the closest example of the Sturgill that I was able to see. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with both of you, it's like every incarnation is a new band. That dude Laur is unfuckijgbelievable though. And to be able to look so nonchalant while absolutely shredding....that my friends is a player. And yes, Sturgill knows his way around a tele as well.
@@walthampton6700 I've listened to a little of what Joe is doing now, and its not great. He made a comment on his FB a while back saying "thanks, but I don't play country anymore". Not sure he ever played "country", but he was flat out amazing in Sturgill's band.

Fucking bananas. and Pineapple pants! aside from my face melting, the only thing i remember clearly from this set is the keyboardist was rocking the fly pineapple shorts.
This is really top shelf, the only two things which would make this even better: 1) Alot of ex touring board & mix men, who know their shit....bye to THAT engineer.... 2) That can banger...... Sturgill has helped alot of players 'get theirs', so I'm here to say, the same as your engineer..... (BUT....we all get stuck, and that maybe what transpired at this show, if so, please take my apology for sticking both my feet in.(34 yrs.of reverse strike chain drives....)
Sturgill Simpson KY native, close to my home town. Realer than real deal Holyfield, now all you hookers and hoes know how I feel. Go Sturg, you tha man son!
He left about two years ago to play with Drivin N Cryin. Looks like he's not playing with them anymore.Said he's done playing country, but man he was amazing in this band. The name is Lauer Joamets.

Nick Nick like a moth to the flame...totally get it.
fucking absolutely, it was just spectacular
Nick Nick I was close to this with my now wife... amazing show. No idea who he was before sitting down
For a break.

Sturgill just plotting the music industry's destruction - blow it up, son!
Lori Kirchoff DAMN SKIPPY
Hell ya
I I hope that guitar is 18 years of age.. wow.... the first time i heard Sturgil was about a month ago.. Huge fan now..
I was there! Top of the stage!
Lucky
The evolution of this song is epic. It's soooo good here.

A 2 disc live album is so long overdue. Thank you for filming this.
I've seen him live several times. That boy is definitely evolving. Just when you think he can't get much better... Bam.
Id love to see him live and a meet n greet would be the Best if only i could MAke a wish
One of the best jams ever. Love the interplay with the drummer.
Why is this man not in the main stream of so called music
Oh to be back there in that damn pit again. One of my all time favorite Bonnaroo sets. Pure electricity. Still gives me chills 💖
Who is the 1 queef that gave this a thumbs down!? Probably listening to Florida Georgia Line.
James Trout sounds about right lol
Love Sturgill, but FGL isn't that bad. Actually like some of their songs better than most other new country.
Best guitarist out there making music these days. Good songwriter and good sound. awesome band. His original style and developing into one of best Jam bands.
Can’t get enough
So good.
One of the best shows of the whole weekend.
I agree. He was on fire!!
Absolutely.
Blew my damn mind at Bonnaroo !' Epic set !
This was the BEST performance of Bonnaroo 2018 IMO
Myself, my wife and son agree. However, no more Bonnaroos. It's too much of a police state event now. Sad.
I'm here with all of my people. \mm/ Much love from Manchester ya'll. and hey.... COME BACK.
This guy is so amazing live! Had the honor of seeing him last weekend open for Willie.
tammijojo tam me too! These guys rocked the house!!!

I think I own the at least 70k of the views.... I can't get enough of this
best show of Bonnaroo 2018
Cannot wait to see Sturgill Outlaw Music Festival Toronto !!!!
baddest guitar player I've ever seen live. Every song he plays is spectacular
I didn't think it would ever end, and I was disappointed when it did
I,ve been telling people about him for a few years ,this high lites his musicl ability, his lyrics are amazing.

Live in manchester as well and I'd have to agree although Radiohead varies throughout the months

Sturgill is a hard core Country Rock Star !!!
Saw this band about a week after this in Telluride. They destroyed the place. So so good.
Best version of this song by far!

@CalgaryDynastar~~Yes, Stugill is rock and roll with a southern accent!!
Bringing the fucking southern blues long play back!!!!! Damn!!!!
Pretty epic. The dislikes must all be from guitar strings.
J Moe lmao
Or maybe his guitar plug in cord? He whips it around a lot!!
Thanks for sharing this, Casey!
I am hooked...
His band is beyond tight. amazing live shows
I had to have been right next to you, cause this was almost my exact view. Somehow got into Sturgill and Muse's pit. Great day
Ohhhh...God...Yes...Don't stop....
Damn, just a man, his guitar, and his red ninja - what more do you need?
Dude. Thanks for this.

Any dork calling this man Stu, can have a "🖕"... LIVE ALBUM IS THE CONSENSUS!!!
lost my mind and voice during this song at bonnaroo. thanks for uploading. holy fuck
Sturgill is the bollocks. I do still wish Laur was in the band though, they had Merle and Roy Nichols energy.

Brace for Impact (Live a Little) Lyrics
[Verse 1]
One day you wake up
And this life will be over
Every party must break up
For burdens to shoulder
We're dying to live
Living to die
No matter what you believe
And all of us cry
For the ones we must leave
[Chorus]
So go and live a little
Bone turns brittle
And skin withers before your eyes
Make sure you give a little
Before you go to the great unknown in the sky
[Verse 2]
Some will beg for forgiveness
From someone above
For something they did
To someone they love
Some scream like a baby
Some go out crying
Some bid the world goodbye
And welcome to die
Sick. This makes me sad I skipped this year.
Me too - dude is just shredddddddin

This Mother Fucker Rocks !!!
saw him at Bristol rhythm n roots festival he's killer
Mad at myself I didn't go to Hinterland this past weekend.

His movement on the stage are similar to the late great Rory Gallagher.
