Brings back a Lot of memories - I once had a 1968 Sparkling Burgundy 335. Burned out on playing, sold it for $200.00 cash in the mid 1980's - Put the guitar down(was never that great of a guitar player)& picked up a camera -Daaang!! Still Love music & going to hear different bands, but having a boat load of fun with my cameras - 31 years of photography & Loving it!

This is the 10th Gibson ES-335 from the early to mid 60's on Guitar of the Day. At least, with a real simple search, I found 9 others. But, since the Gibson ES-335 (and the Epiphone copies) are my favorite guitars, I'm not complaining.

Another ES Wednesday , 335TDC , yes it's a red guitar. Love those patent number ick up's , or PAF's , so much classic rock n roll was created and recorded on those baby's , and this one is no exception , great sound from the neck grumble to the bridge chime , so sweet. great set Mark , another great Vid Jen. thanks guys

With Cream, Clapton mostly played a Les Paul, he also used his "Fool" SG a lot of the time, but he only started using 335's towards the end of Cream.

One of my favorite episodes. I wanted that guitar so bad. I still say a 335 with PAF’s sounds much better than any ‘59 Les Paul.
Clapton's '64 Crossroads 335 along with the Blackie Strat were bought by Guitar Center at Christie's auction in 2004 and are now on display at the Manhattan, New York City store location.

You are correct... I'm 54 and started playing in 1976 as a 12 year old.. I lived during the Hey day of rock... Classic Rock then was top 40, I remember and have seen all the famous bands of the 60's-70's-80's etc.. And yes, if you mentioned back then that you played guitar, you would usually be asked Rhythm or Lead.....

Ritchie Blackmore had a cherry ‘63 335 but his had the Bigsby. The tone on the MK1 and In Rock years were all from that guitar. He played like mad

When I win the lottery, and am assembling my dream guitars collection, this is one of the guitars on the list. Though I think I like the redder cherry finish ones. But definitely block inlays and stop tail bridge.

I guess an early Les Paul is next up. Then on to Jackson, Washburn, Framus, lol. I have my Chinese Epi 335 in cherry. It has the nicest neck of any guitar I own. I picked it up used for a bit over $100. Couldn't be happier with it. No wonder Gibson USA is having troubles.
