    Chicago is such an incredible band and has endured so much over the years, yet they continually rise above and keep delivering great music. I cant think of another band who has toured continuously for 50 plus years. If there is, let me know. And I don't mean just "together", I mean "actively touring" for 50 + years.

    I was lucky I got to see them when they first started out in 1968 they were calling themselves Chicago transit Authority That first time in that I saw them July 1968 Saw them outside of Chicago Rockford Illinois. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. I was 13 years old at the time.

    The fact is when I want to hear Chicago, I play their records from their younger days. The same goes for the Beach Boys; I play their old records with the original members. Music is full of groups that continue to record and perform long after their glory days and the departure of key band members. What remains is nostalgia. It is enjoyable to remember, but it has an element of sadness that can eclipse the joy.

    Chicago can still rock it and while "If This Is Goodbye" is a fantastic song, it is CLEARLY not in Neil's or Robert's vocal range. It is almost painful listening to them trying to sing this song, especially Neil as he has the difficult task of singing the higher notes. Cetera in his prime would have nailed it! I don't want to sound "ageist" but given that Chicago refuses to drop the keys their songs were originally written in, they should probably get a younger lead vocalist. Time takes its toll on the body and that includes the vocal cords. Having said that, I am so happy to see the band still being active and creative.

    • @Rylan101
      @Rylan101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @beegee1323 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Rylan101 Nah. I’ve seen several clips of him doing the song live from various shows and he struggles in every one of them. It’s much better in the studio version for obvious reasons. The high parts are out of his vocal range. Don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a great vocalist and nails many other Chicago tunes but this is not one of them. Same with Lamm, whose vocal range is quite narrow and is best suited to the songs he’s written (again, for obvious reasons).
