Wistmans woods, Dartmoor? No! There are lots of similar areas though, this is one of them.....

A lot has been made of Wistmans woods on Dartmoor, after a photo taken three won a prestigious photographic award.
The wonderful mossy trees held appeal for so many, that unfortunately the following increase in footfall caused damage and destruction to this special area.
Currently out of bounds to visitors, many are feeling hard done by.
There are other similar areas though!!
This is a nice linear walk from Fatherford viaduct, Okehampton, on a frozen January day.
Plenty of mossy, bewitching trees and green bouncy hillocks - you'll find circular walks from here too.
Fernworthy forest and reservoir, one particular area looks like witches fingers appearing from the ground!
It's definitely worth doing some research, so that we all visit a wide area rather then footfall damaging a singular place.
