Flashflooding is serious too. Stay away from all streams and rivers. In Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon wildfires 2 years ago no one died in the fire but 4 people died in the flashflooding. The flashflooding is just as bad as the fire.
My 4 yrs old grandson looks at this bs and says: “The only thing burned there is peoples property. No trees shrubs or much of any other highly flammable products were burned in this “ wildfire”. That is a high crime. Treason.

@Timberon Vast? No, that's only true if you include the inaccessible parts of remote forest that have burned. Those don't have anything to be protected... and claiming so is dishonest.
There was a robbery of a jewelry store that happened during the evacuation and the police said the case was closed right away and I don`t know what that means .Ruidoso is a wonderful place but there is a small sub element of people that would take advantage of other people .I am happy for the leo to be there as the phones are down in an area where usually the neighbors who watch out for each other are not there now.
LEO are there to keep residents out until they can cover up gov't mishandling of the fire response. Witness interviewed by neutral observers saw fires creeping into new areas in early morning when humidity was high. Those fires could have been easily extinguished by homeowners to save their houses, but left alone they slowly worked their way to a fuel source and a house that should have been saved burns to the ground. The fire suppression teams aren't employing best practices, mainly beginning their efforts at noon rather than at daybreak. You shouldn't assume some of us don't know the local conditions, many of us have numerous local sources. This disaster has and is being mismanaged by the socialist NM governor who's willing to sacrifice a historic area of NM so the feds will send big money right before election season for her to use for buying Dem votes. The left's slogan since the '60s has been "Burn it all down Baby" and that's what they're doing in Ruidoso Downs, the most conservative area in the disgusting state. Don't try to tell me I'm wrong - I own property in Taos County. Unfortunately my full time residence isn't in NM so I don't get to vote there, but that $1800 a year tax I pay gives me every right to offer my opinion.

If you want to help those from Ruidoso look for aid groups and donation centers in Roswell NM, the closest city. Most of those evacuated went there.
