    Volume pedals are such creative tools. I hope this video helps you to see how many ways there are to incorporate it in your rig. And I only scratch the surface with these 6 examples. These are my favourite ways of using a volume pedal. Let me know in the comments what's yours. :)
    Welcome to Gear Corner!

    Point # 3 is the absolute best reason to have a Volume pedal. I can’t play my rig anymore without one, I loose so much dynamic tonal control without it. Thank you for making this important point Kris.

    its a natural choice with the delay Kris , you have to buy shoes to
    avoid splinters if you use the plank link for wah / vol 😊👍🦶

    Number 5 is amazing! I think it could be made more easily by replacing the wah for a envelope filter, though.

    Socks or bare feet make using volume and expression pedals easier,- you can do some pretty tricky things with a little practice.
    Something about foot pedal control has always appealed to me, - maybe from piano & organ, -and I tend to check out effects that offer that option.
    Volume & Wah, - EHX original Cockfight , Supro Boost, and a Dual Expression Pedal.
    There are a huge number of possibilities barely explored with simple volume and expression pedal set ups; I find because of basic " toe tap" to keep time, that it usually comes easily and naturally to manage even complicated moves this way.I have a volume after my " dry" (dirt) board , before the amp, and a second before the wet( modulations,) - this way , I can control all volumes and swells from the board.Swells work better with a drive or compressor before the volume pedal, anyway.It is nice to control gain via a volume pedal, but it can be problematic, depending on the set up.

    Hmmm....very nice. Im used to play with volume knob. What pots can resist? I changed 1 fender amd 2 CTS's already: maybe first soldering overheated... But 2nd and 3rd sure not. 3rd after 2.5 months started to make noise...500k for passive pickups

    Hello Kris. Id like to steal bit of your mind ;). I find out, that Im dearly missing "tweed" sound with my pedals. Im almost got Mad Professor Little tweedy drive, but then found good deal on Keeley Super Phat mod. I know that SPM is not directly tweed style amp in a box, but it is created after BD2, what is very much Fender type preamp circuit. Also I remeber hearing this pedals in some of your vids, where it works heavenly and also produced that type of dirt, that Im looking for. But found some reviews, that stated, this pedal is not good as a preamp in front of clean pedal platform, but more to push already driven amp. Any thoughts of yours? Thank you ;)

    Great video! Wanted to ask for some help, at the 5:45min mark, I’m trying to achieve this clean to overdrive sound using my volume pedal. I have a Boss Bd-2 Overdrive>Boss Fv-500H Volume pedal>Boss Delay DDT-6, then into my amp. With the volume pedal in the off position (heels down), I’m not getting a clean sound. I have no sound. And when I increase the pedal, I hear overdrive and delay. So basically, the volume pedal is working like a volume knob and not letting me increase/decrease overdrive even through the volume pedal is placed right after my overdrive pedal. Any advice on what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

    • @aangtonio5570
      @aangtonio5570 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. Volume pedals in heels down position are always "off". Volume pedals ARE essentially volume knobs!
      2. However, the FV-500H has a "min volume" knob at the side of the pedal. You can use it to get a low volume in heels position (rather than dead silence).

  • @MK-tj5bf
    @MK-tj5bf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For using with a delay pedal should volume pedal be before or after the delay?

    • @KrisBarocsi
      @KrisBarocsi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I prefer the volume pedal before the delay. That way the repeats are not affected by the volume pedal.

    When using a lot of gain and/or drive pedals, does this volume pedal go totally quiet in the heel down position??? No signal bleeding through?
    Ive been through a handful of volume pedals and sent them all back because there is signal bleed when I have my gain and master way up and just want to mute my signal for tuning or something. It’s infuriating really. I run a dirty Dual Rec pushed with a TS and thats enough output from the amp to still hear a faint clean guitar coming through while the volume pedal is turned down. I really want to find a quality volume pedal circuit that doesn’t have this issue.

    • @KrisBarocsi
      @KrisBarocsi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, there’s no volume bleed in the heel down position of this Xotic. Just please don’t forget, that this is a 250k volume pedal. This means, that if you’re using it with humbucker loaded guitars (which use 500k pots) you will lose a little bit of presence. Unless you’re using it in the amp‘s fx loop of course. If you want to have a volume pedal as the first pedal on your board and play primarily humbuckers, get a 500k volume pedal. Cheers

    I like mine in the efx loop just before the dly/reverb stuff!
    Another important detail is to Label your gear inside and out with something permanent like a diamond tip etching pen or a black light pen that grubby thieves won’t immediately remove before selling 🤬

    • @KrisBarocsi

      Poo Ninja Yeah man, should’ve done that. It’s one of those „bad musician habits“ to grab a beer after the show and leave your gear on stage. That’s when things happen sometimes. This is surely not the kind of theft Robin Hood would approve. 🤷‍♂️

    Cool tips as always Kris! Be careful with the pronunciation of 'impedance'!
    It's /ɪmˈpiːdəns/ - stress on the second syllable, vowel sound the same as the verb 'impede'.
    It kind of matters, because if you get it wrong it sounds more like 'impotence' - which has the stress on the first syllable.
    I await the Hungarian lesson that you now owe me. ;)
