Mega ZERO WING by Toaplan - One credit no practice - how far can I get?

Zero Wing is fine. A thoroughly decent horizontally scrolling shooter for your Sega Megadrive. No doubt, you - yes YOU - have played this game far more than me, and have watched the video in bemusement at my lacklustre skills. I do not play this game often and apologise for offence given.
Please let me know how crap I am and how great this game is below!
