Seele's career is summarized in this video in a nutshell: The "dark Seele" had always led the "credulous, shy Seele" up until now and significantly influenced their decisions. You can clearly see from the hand gesture in the video how she guided or "supported" the "shy Seele".
But from the second half of the video, for example, the "shy Seele" became more independent and no longer remained in the shelter with her second ME. Her lock and chains are unraveling, which may indicate that the bond or commitment between them no longer exists.
Farewell can be defined as one door closing and another opening.
Honkai never giving us time to mentally prepare for the absolute sadness we're about to witness 😭

This must be how a good and well respected teacher feels after his class leaves forever.
You can tell Veliona was there for Seele and even cared, but Seele, from the chess board scene, the symbolism of Veli helping her knock over the final piece and checkmate, when she hesitated, she wants to find the strength to do it on her own.
And so she steps through that door on her own, knowing the world outside can be stormy and unforgiving, but resolved to face whatever comes.
That was my interpretation, anyway.

When Seele held Veliona's hand to stop her from opening the door the the next stage of Seele's life, or perhaps another trouble, it wasn't Veliona who took the risk or took the trouble of dealing with the said problem, it was Seele. Veliona was there to help Seele, she was the one who took the trouble and was the one who lived the reality, while Seele was the one who lived in the fairytale. So in Seele's lines, "This is a fairytale for both of us." it kind of represents that they switched places, Veliona will live that Fairytale, and Seele will face reality, so that both of them can experience Fairytale. It's just like growing up, we have to leave our family behind and go to work and be the one to make the money for them.
