Sunhye said in an interview that they are trying to have fun while showing respect to a genre they all love but they know they can’t represent it, which shows a lot of maturity and knowledge about the idea of appreciation vs appropriation
One thing I'm definitely sure of is everyone talking about cultural appropriation is not a fan coz they missed the most important part of why their music is this way
In the behind the scene for the mv, the members specifically state that their outfit in the opening\closing styling are homages, in particular to Tupac (the one in the striped shirt) and LL Cool J (red bucket hat), so yeah, appreciation.
Young Posse is just an overall good time for me. Just pure goofiness and good vibes. Their whole concept is “it ain’t that serious, bro.” 😂 Edit after watching full reaction: Bro that’s why you’re my fav reactor. You talk about what you know, you appreciate the artistry, and you’re hella fair-minded. Vibes immaculate ✨
I totally get what you were saying about their voices. When they do story MV's it's hard to tell, that's why i enjoy the dance practices. As for using tropes/gestures originating in other culture it feels like it's more "having fun, not making fun" and as long at it's about the love and respect for the music, Posse Power!. And you mention of Aiki, check out this short th-cam.com/users/shortsWNNiYiAP7rU
Great reaction and observation.YP differs from other kpop groups, as they don't take themselves seriously, they like to be fun (the Beastie Girls reference) and they pay homages rather that jack styles calling it their own (in the beginning and end the outfits were representing west coast and hip hop legends from Kobe to LL to Tupac, as well as looks that repped NWA and Cypress Hill) or saying they created it. So yeah, they'e one of my favs cause they bring a lot of style and fun to the genre.
Dude, thanks for great reaction, as usual. Your opinions matter to us fans. Check out the dance practice for this. Their moves are fire. I put them collectively in the upper tier of K-pop dancers.
Yes finally love these girls so much they are now my second favorite group behind xg you should check out their songs on albums they have lots of videos and performances
They are one of my favorite group in kpop no one is doing it like them, music is music and it’s what brings us together stop with the cultural appropriation bs people can look for things to be offensive if they look hard enough respect on your take 👍🏼
I highly recommend checking any of their live stages for this promotion. They are performing live live, absolutely no backtrack. Jiana, the main vocalist, is on her way to becoming one of the best vocalists of 5th gen
7:55 technically lots of aspect related to the west coast hip hop from 90s like dr dre snoop like the clothes the lowriders etc..... come from latinos gang
Basically Jiana with the lakers shirt and Ji Eun dressed as "Chola" in that image in the room are the ones who carry the vocal load, but this doesn't mean that the other three don't have the ability to do it.
For the XXL promotions, Sunhye (short hair) did do a challenge with Aiki. Then Doeun (the tall one with the bangs) did one with Bada. People affectionately call those the mother\daughter challenges
I am not black so I can't really speak about it, but for as little value my opinion on the topic is, I don't see an issue with what YP is doing. Yes they are doing west coast hip hop, but to me it's obvious the intent of appreciation, they are continuosly referring to black artists in the song in multiple verses, they are not trying to hide that they are "copying" that sound. Plus, their producer has admitted multiple times that he is a hip-hop enthusiastic and that he is inspired by the songs he enjoys. Sunhye, the leader of the members, chose Snoop Dog as the person she dreams to meet. That's my 2 cents, which I know it's not as important as the black community feels about it.
can you please react on Unis' Dopamine and Datin myself? if you want acoustic, try their cover of way 4 luv, dream of girls and shiny night on Kyeong Seo. thanks

In the dance at the end as well they are dressed very much like the iconic outfits of NWA (the black and white)
Ooohhh ok I love that they spoke on it!!

They definitely bring a brand new modern flavor to the kpop scene and I love it!

Yes I love their videos! I need to see live stages too!
If you wanna know who’s singing/rapping I think it’s time for a dance practice! This choreo is so fun and addictive 😊
Definitely gotta get over to that dance practice!!
They have so much fun while playing Homage to old school hip hop!
Thnx for reacting to Yp🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

They have like 10 performance videos of this if you want to see who has each parts
I’ll check them out for sure!!
6:10 that sign reads YP, it's the hand sign for their group name. The V part is Y, and the thumb plus 3rd finger is P.
I agree they haven’t figured out an intro video yet…they haven’t done a good job of distinguishing members in music vids yet.
THANKKK YOUUU 👾👾👾
You’re welcome!!!

No one's doing it like them I'm afraid that's why they are hating
