    I enjoyed the interview, especially hearing so many opinions from a full time grinder of a player. I am 52 and didn't even really understand the history of pokemon other than buying my son the games when he was young. In 2016 we started playing as a family when my son was 12 and pretty soon I pulled way ahead in experience, most because I was able to raid with the community after work in the early AM.
    I stopped playing off and on but still playing with the family during some events even as my son has his own full time career now. To this day, I still do not really know the in depth weakness and effectiveness of each pokemon, but it is still fun. The only regret I have with my character is how much stardust I wasted over the years not fully understanding the value vs reward. My favorite memories are the early days when we traveled in packs to raid with local players, none of whom we even see or talk to anymore, except for exchanging the occasional postcard in-game.
    P.S. - Still Lvl 44 and probably will never hit 50, but it doesn't matter as much as it did when we raced to 40 as a family

    I agree with BrandonTan91 that the number of remote raids should be limited to 5 per day, but the price should not be increased. They can keep the price the same as the premium battle pass and limit it to 5 remote raids a day.

    • @CS97660
      @CS97660 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      How does that make sense tho? You're paying for CONVENIENCE. I spend more money on Gas playing the game than I do remote raiding even at the current ridiculous price.
      Should be 50 coins a green pass and 100 for a remote, with half rewards+balls for remote.

    • @gellyzer0949
      @gellyzer0949 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @affi6064
      @affi6064 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah as rural player im fine with limited remote, but then again price going double was killing blow. like 3xl candy on local raids is prob lot more impact today raiding than remote nerf itself why people do local raids again.

    • @robertolopez1537
      @robertolopez1537 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ten remote raids a day, 100 coins per remote pass, and we should already get guaranteed xl rare candy

    • @YourAvgWeeb
      @YourAvgWeeb 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that the remote raid price is too much, but making it the same as the normal premium pass isn't good either because you are still paying for the fact that you can raid from anywhere without the inconvenience of going to the gyms in person. My personal opinion is that Niantic should make the remote raid pass cost 150 pokecoins instead of 195 and make the bundle of 3 cost 400 or 425.

    Great interview, and it's SOOOOOOOOO good to hear a prominent PoGo gamer bring up the business and community side of the remote raids. I do remote raid a lot, but at the same time I'm not upset that they were nerfed because the whole point of the game is to GO OUT and play. I get that there are still some people who are limited to their playing time and availability, but that's just the way things are with gaming.

    I live in a big city, and yet, its still hard to get people to join in person raids. (outside of scheduled events with our group in campfire). I am a father of 2 young boys, I usually can't make it to those meet ups. So to raid, I have to hope I can time one with the Pokegenie queue during lunch, or on the way somewhere for errands to do in person raids. In the last year, I have had people join me in person at a raid (outside of those scheduled meet ups) three or four times.

I've been inspired and found love for the game through BT's efforts to get our communities together.. I attended each meet up and youll see me in his videos..Alone... as thats how its been since i started playing POGO last year. I had a blast being around a group raiding and meeting ppl and would much prefer to raid in person than remote raid from my couch. I can honestly say that if you ever hear of BT or anyone who streams, makes content to do with POGO and get the chance to go out to meet them.. DOOOOO ITTTT!

    Have never watched either of you before. This was such a good thoughtful interview and was interesting to hear Brandon's views on the remote raid nerf which I agree with. One of the pandemic features I'd like to see return is remote trading. Even a one off unlimited distance trade maybe once a month or something like that. I have international lucky friends that I still raid with so won't delete them but it would be nice to get the trade done.

      That is the mindset I have, which is fortuitous because I’m the only one who plays consistently in my area. There are a couple of people who live close by who play occasionally but I’ve never (knowingly) seen them. Last summer, I saw a group of kids playing it, all lower levels, it was obvious they were playing but I felt I couldn’t approach them. I’m a female but I’m not buying the false accusation ‘predator’ being flung at me on a whim. I think Nerfantic really live in their own little Frisco bubble and don’t understand how the real world works.

    The discussion you had regarding the number of events is an interesting one. The fact they last a week or so isn't bad. It gives you the choice to play or not. But the one thing that bothers me about all of the events is that when you travel to another country, the event spawns hide all of the regionals. I went to London once and was searching for the red oricorio. I was only able to find 1 throughout my week long trip. I think routes help with this now, but I don't think they should reduce regionals from the event spawn pool.

    28:55 As someone who uses wayfarer, I can confirm that the platform isn't what it used to be. People are misusing it. I've seen countless legit submissions getting rejected because of misusing most likely as Niantic specifically states that the "community" decides to not accept a submission. I'm also experiencing this kind of bad experience (out of like 20 totally legit submissions over the last 2 years or so, only like 5 got accepted). So I wouldn't suggest that to people (even if it's the only thing allowing the creation of stops), as I fear that there are people who purposely rejects everything

    I understand Brandon’s perspective on Remote Raids, but I’ll counter with this: if the game is not meant for everyone, then Niantic needs to improve the game in a way that retains the player base they are courting.
    When the Pandemic hit, Niantic leaned on Remote Raids as their BIG new feature to keep the game afloat. That worked, but Niantic unfortunately continued to lean on remote raids as their big feature well after the pandemic. When they nerfed remote raids, they didn’t introduce a BIG new feature to focus gameplay. Instead, they introduced small features like routes (which were hindered by bans to both Wayfarer AND PoGo accounts for bad submissions). Now they’re introducing a bunch of QOL updates, but that’s a little too late. They need another BIG feature that will keep people playing the game and interacting with their local community.
    If they want to make money but also court community in a very specific way, the game HAS to improve. Not just small improvements, but leaps and bounds improvements. That includes how they handle events (making a Global event free but locking all the perks behind $15 pay walls is not enticing).

    Remote raid passes opinion: At 55 yo, I signed up in 2016, the 1st week for my 4 grandsons, without phones. In 2020 my oldest grandson went to college. Because of remotes, I can stay in touch and play with him. It's was awesome. Pokemon community isnt just strangers....pokemon is keeping families together playing. Now I have all my intermediate families playing. My family is a pokemon family. Without remotes that would never happened. And winter weather is another reason. It can be dangerous.

    When ULTRA Necrazma comes to the game It should have an ability like the new origin legendarys where you can use ultra wormhole as a remote raid pass- on a long cooldown obviously

    As someone living in a "rural town" playing with my son (7 years old).. I would love it we could go to a specific raid being up. Right now that would be Kartana.. And then remotely join a kartana raid lobby somewhere else USING a NORMAL raid pass instead of a remote raid pass.. Because we dont have anyone to play with in our area, but this would encourage people in these areas to actually go out to the POI's and actually be able to take down a raid without others being there.. Because who knows? there might be more people like my son and I but we dont necessarily know how to find out if we exist... I think this chance would bring more out to the gyms because often people in rural areas wont even attempt to go because the odds of anyone else being there is so darn low that you would go there in vein.. If you could join another lobby using a normal pass, for being present.. i think that would greatly improve the rural experience

    I’m my opinion. I think that a fair compromise would be 100-125 coin passes and a 10 limit and open it up for events.

    • @oneonone8855

      The only thing that I don't like is the price. keep the price the same but have a limit. 5 is just not enough for people to get enough XLs when a raid is only available for 7 days with 5 raids limit. 10 is better even though it's far from enough.

      @oneonone8855 I've always said this. I haven't purched a remote pass since purely because of the price. But they did offer extra xl for in person raids too just to give us something extra at least. 140 remote raids a month is still a hefty amount. But the price for me they did this during a time where they were constantly accused of cash grabs. For example the galarian mr mime in research.
