Why do we see examples of people being baptized in the name of Jesus instead of in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? How can we reconcile these different practices ?

@zulu3779 Great question! Matthew 28:19 tells us: 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But we also see Acts 2:38 & Acts 10:48 telling us to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ.
So, these two very different instructions leave us with 3 options:
      1. Listen to Jesus and ignore the book of Acts
      2. Ignore Jesus and listen to the book of Acts
      3. Baptism was never meant to be a formula so baptizing in Jesus name or in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are valid.
Given the fact that the church was built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:20), we cannot dismiss what Peter instructed in Acts. But given the fact that Jesus is the cornerstone of the church, and that He is God, we cannot throw away what He instructed in Matthew, obviously.
So option 3 would make the most sense. Hope this is helpful!
