This is so cool! I want to try heddle weaving and was looking for a low-tech version. This is really ingenious!

Olá Laverne, obrigada! Há meses eu venho tentando aprender como fazer os liços (lizos or healds) que você ensina tão bem. Thank you very much. Estou fazendo um projeto de um tear caseiro. abraços.

Thanks great instructions! My length of heddles got longer as I went along, but overall I'm pleased with how it turned out. I do have a question - after inserting the shed stick do you remove the cross sticks? My loom came pre-warped with the shed stick between the string heddle and cross sticks. Some of the warp thread were cut at customs so it has been a process for me to get the loom to the point I can weave, but I was a little confused with all the sticks in different sheds in the warp.

What would happen if the warp never crossed? Would it be possible to set up the heddle and shed stick without the figure 8 warping?

There's a huge chance of confusing warp threads without the cross. You can hand-pick them, but the room for error is very great, so it's better to have them separated early. It also allows you to set up the (plain weave, in this case) pattern much faster.

@@argonwheatbelly637 To be honest, I always hand pick the sheds. I am an absolute beginner, I have only woven six or seven pieces of fabric, but I find it easier to warp without 'crossing' the threads. But of course I'm not saying my way is the best (I am aware that it is in fact incorrect hahaha)
