      Because if you had money, you buy the equivilent aston or bently. And if you had less money you bought german. Only if you wanted a british car did you buy a jag. They didnt lean into that enough, they could easily rebranded by going more into its history and things it was known for. Instead they are essentially launching an ev brand but using thr jag name.
      This is similar to releasing a mitsubishi eclipse as an suv, or a mustand as an ev. It just tarnishes the name.

    • @NicoSchurr
      @NicoSchurr 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @N3onDr1v3 The Germans weren't cheaper. Jaguar directly competed with them on boring mass market cars. Now they want to compete with Maybach and Bentley upmarket and why would customers need another heritage focused British brand in that space. That's occupied by Bentley. A young British ultra-luxury brand is something novel.

    I appreciate Jag trying to connect with the future of mobility and the influence of the cleaner, geometric almost 70's concept level of Italian vehicles mixed with a lot of cleaner almost Bauhaus and robust curves. At the moment not everyone is on board. Keep in mind this is what car designers do. Work in the future and a future that the public and enthusiasts haven't arrived at yet. Gotta be willing to break the egg to get to the philosophical yolk. Also, look at design and design trends as whole not just specific details that date your brand because it feels graciously familiar. Again, movement forward and this is what car designers do versus an enthusiasts take.

    I love that jaguar is providing content material for so many TH-camrs. Almost every single one is talking about the huge failure of their rebranding, but EVERYONE is talking about it. The way this community of content creators is talking you would think they're avid Jaguar customers who've been let down, but if that were the case they wouldn't be on the brink of collapse anyway. In fact it makes perfect sense for a company in their position to make a bold pivot because they don't have much to loose. I can't help but think that a good amount of the criticism of their "woke" campaign is rooted in racism and bigotry. The term "woke" as it's thrown around as a politicized hot potato originates from black american culture as a term for seeing the oppressive, hyper-capitalist system for the exploitive, destructive machine it is. Now it has been turned on its head as a dismissive term. Orwell could not have scripted it better.
    As a business move I think there is potential value in throwing off racist, bigoted ideas to embrace something new. Yes, bigots buy cars (although not many buy Jaguars I suppose), but so do black people, gay people and a whole variety of people who are not white men stuck in the privileged past. With this lens I see their new font as something that would fit in on Rodeo Drive among other luxury brands. I would not be surprised if they followed this up with some innovative car designs that speak to a younger audience who are less attached to the company's past but have eyes towards the future. if the designers are smart they'll make something elegant, ready-to-pounce and beautiful.
    All this energy leading up to their reveal in Miami around the time of Art Basel means all eyes will be on them and they have the potential to steal the show, not just in Miami, but in the automotive world. It's time for somebody to come for Tesla, why not a storied brand like Jag?!!!
    Thanks for all your great content over the years, I'm a fan. This opinion of mine has been forming and your platform inspired me to share it.
