I think its dawning on Alan that we were all young once and we'll all be old men some day. His grandfather looked a very athletic and striking young man. My father married later in life and had his family in his 50's. So, we always remember him as being older than the other Dad's. I see pictures of him when he was 20 yrs old and I cannot believe the good looking, athletic, upstanding young man in the photo is the same person I grew up around.

@@biegebythesea6775 everybody's different. My dad has not got that sort of affection but my late grandad who was a gruff brickie all of his life, was a very affectionate man, I didn't get away with not hugging him well into my 20s 😂

My family's from Newcastle (well before then Scotland lol) so yeah do get that hugely the whole thing... he does make me laugh does Alan lol, got tons of time to watch him and he always makes me laugh top lad!
I think Graham was more disappointed in Alan not becoming a footballer rather than being gay which in a way is good because at least he loves him for who he is and what he does.

At least his dad didnt push him. I had a friend whose dad badly wanted him to be a pro boxer. He was pushed and pushed to train then the knight before his first amateur schoolboy fight he hung himself. He was 13 years old and was always telling us he hates boxing and didnt want to hurt anyone.

It's seems like a prerequisite to being a top league footballer...is that you must be good looking lol. I don't know if it's because there are numerous leagues across the globe which ups the percentage, but it seems football has an over abundance of good looking men in it.
