  • This song is the second track on the Doors 1967 album "Strange Days". It was never released as a single. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek suggested that the song was about a very young Mia Farrow, who had just got married to the much, much older Frank Sinatra.
    LYRICS:
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost
    Tell me who
    Are you?
I think that you know what to do
    Impossible? Yes, but it's true
I think that you know what to do, yeah
I'm sure that you know what to do
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost
    Tell me who
    Are you?
I think that you know what to do
    Impossible? Yes, but it's true
I think that you know what to do, girl
I'm sure that you know what to do
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost little girl
    You're lost

Robbie has to be THE most underrated guitarist in rock history. He was never a shredder but the way he crafted his solos and lines are perfection.

+heavybison I was in high school in the late 60's. I can tell you that not only will a band like the Doors never happen again. But never will that era, both musically and culturally, happen again. I was, however, lucky to see the Doors perform twice. First time it was amazing. The second, Jim was not together. You all know why. No reason to beat that dead horse here. Peace...

    I have always
wondered what the young people thought at the time in which the first
songs of the Doors came out listening to them. They
are still so modern and projected into the future that part of their
great repertoire has life for a long time, their uniqueness of sound
and lysergic poetic rock amalgam drags the souls of the listener as the
    wind does with the kites.

For an untrained (thank God) singer, Jim Morrison had a fantastic sense of pitch; it was spot on most of the time. Occasionally online you can hear isolated (his voice only) tracks of Jim during the recording of the iconic first two albums and his pitch and execution are near perfect. Some may think this crazy to say but in many ways he was a son of the great crooners of the '40s and '50s, the Perry Comos, the Frank Sinatras, the Johnny Hartmans, the Tony Bennetts of the golden age of the American Songbook.. If you listen with that in mind it starts to make more sense. Also, Morrison had a finely developed technique of going from soft, breathy warbling to loud, demonic shouts and screams -- all the more effective because of the contrast. My opinion is of all -- all -- of the great rock front singers he had the most control of his voice and its capabilities.

    • @kelvinkloud
      @kelvinkloud 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Well stated... he certainly maximized the tools he had. His range was limited, but inside his box he really knew had to operate... I’d add to your analysis, he not only intuitively understood crooning technique he also, like sinatra, knew how to evoke feeling and emotion which matched the theme and lyrical meaning. Few have that, esp in rock. Plus he brought a danger element into the baritone that even a fewer select have. Elvis could do this, but he steered away most of the time from the desolate themes Morrison stepped into.... I have a theory, Bowie didn’t come into full bloom until he figured that out. It’s interesting Bowie never talked about Morrison, yet he was actually very close to the orbit. Iggy met and idolized Morrison, Bowie was iggys close friend. Bowie also saw the doors in London in 68.... always felt like Bowie had quite the ear to the ground re Morrison, but kept it on the low.

The awesome guitar solo is about as close to a liquid guitar sound as you can achieve. This was recorded using an actual reverberation room as opposed to the digital reverbs (now mostly just software algorithms) we have today. Magic.
