Nice one for doing this. As you say when it's gone it's gone so the more videos made the more future generations have to look at how things used to be. That applies to the dock area, when Liverpool waters is finished I think people will be interested/amazed to see the before and after.
I'll be sad to see it go but also look forward to seeing the new place. Hope it does Goodison justice. I have years of memories walking across Stanley Park starting in the early 80's with my Dad to go watch the game every Saturday and some of the best memories are from when we played Liverpool. Never a dull moment in those games win lose or draw. Back in the 50's and 60's my Dad used to go to watch Liverpool too with his brothers. We also have family members buried in Anfield Cemetery. The whole area is kind of sacred to me and I wish I could take him to see one last game but he's no longer with us now.
I'm an Everton fan and you're a legend. great vid chap .ill be watching some more of your vids later. i have a big respect for Liverpool fc and the city and people of Liverpool take care chap
You said at the beginning and I agree 100% is that if we were going to redevelop we should have bought houses (on the Bullens side) 40 years ago. The Goodison Avenue houses were demolished. It's too late now. From a practical and financial point of view. The new ground will be a big shot in the arm but it's a shame it's not quite big enough.
This place holds so many memories for me and my family , both good and bad . For all its faults Goodison park is still one of the great grounds of football . It’s held international matches , cup finals and even a World Cup semifinal. Probably Archiebald leaches greatest work . It’s gonna be a very sad day when we say goodbye to the grand old lady .
It's right up there with the most historic World Cup venues. Leitch's lattice trusses are possibly the most iconic feature of the stadium, So I would have incorporated a row of them in the new stadium, because its important to retain the thread of history between the old and new ❤
@Jamis Billson I'm not an Everton fan, I don't support a football club, but i love history and architecture. It's a very old stadium with supports holding up the roofs etc, so it needed some redeveloping, but i just don't like the idea of this great club moving to this dock area. But then again, i'm an old fart who loves the preservation of old buildings and heritage 🙂
@Jamis Billson If I had a say in the building of the new stadium, It would have been a priority to have those Leitch's trusses included. Not reproductions, the original ones, brought from Goodison to Bramely-Moore, and installed on one side of stadium. So at the very least for old farts like us, there would be something in the new stadium that is a continuation of the heritage and history of the club... I'm just some old bloke from South London, who drinks and smokes too much, but seems to be more passionate about the heritage of club than the management and owners 🙁 I have fond memories of watching Everton on TV in 1980s... Andy Gray's sweeping low header in an FA cup tie ❤
@Jamis Billson Maybe if Elton had invested more of his wealth they might have won a trophy 😂 I'm certainly no expert, but relocating a structure made of brick or stone is extremely difficult and expensive, But the Wembley twin towers were made of concrete, so could fairly easily have been moved and relocated. They were built as part of the British Empire Exhibition in 1922, and did have an Indian temple style about them. So the multicultural and diversity promoting FA, completely missed a trick by having them bulldozed 🙂 They went for globalism instead, with the new Wembley 🙁
@Jamis Billson There was an article recently: Why is the standard of the English lower leagues so good? Its because there are so many foreigners in the Premier League, many of the best English players don't get a chance and are stuck in Division 2... it ain't rocket science to answer that question. It was interesting when Leicester won the Premier, most of the negative comments came from fans of those BIG 7... like an intruder had entered their territory 😂
Iam a Liverpool fan but enjoyed the video it's history and sad to see it go hopefully more blues fans can stop the bitterness towards lfc I think their negativity towards the reds is holding them back remember the first Merseyside fa cup final let's get that bond back together the city was stronger then.
It is amazing how all the old footy grounds were right in the middle of housing estates, i guess that made them the hub of the community. Now they are beginning to be built in the middle of nowhere, and why do clubs nowadays have to build or help fund travel (train stations etc). Buying up homes and I believe businesses is what my club Tottenham had to do, i'd rather they bought 3 points at old Trafford yesterday. I think they also help redevelop white hart lane station.
Let's not forget this ground historically is prominent in football. 78,299 once filled this stadium a capacity that would be bigger than any stadium in this country right now other than Wembley. Its the only ground other than Wembley in this country to host a world cup semi final. Architecture wise yes it's wooden in areas but also contains Archibald Leitch lattaces which in theory should be kept and not destroyed. I think I heard somewhere that it may taken and incorporated into Bramley Moore but not 100% sure.
In thirty, forty years time people will be looking at these videos with a tear in their eyes for the memories.who knows how we'll be going then at Bramley, hopefully as successful as we were in the eighties,so take in the last couple of seasons at the old lady and hopefully Frank lampard can get a successful side walking onto Bramley moor for the first time having left some great final memories...coysb
The architect of the new stadium (Dan Meis) made a point of trying to design it to be as close to an 'old style' football stadium as possible, minimal distance from front rows to pitch, deliberately not making it a 'bowl' like the Emirates and having the south stand as steep as is allowed to get the Dortmund home end feeling (though that's down to the fans of course).
What will happen to the Everton shop that's on the corner? If they build new shops on the old ground site wouldn't that damage the shops on County Rd money wise ? Also heard that some shop owners looking to cancel their lease or rent after Everton FC move to Bramley Moore due to lose of customers foot traffic (lose of fans) mainly cafes and fast food out let's.? Thoughts about County Rd future.
I will miss it so much. Evertonian all my life. Not a native of the city but i remember my first trip. 16 years old in 1986. Got on the bus from liverpool lime st and i remember the bus turning the corner and there it was. The main stand and the Everton crest. Stayed with me forever.

I think because most of us haven't wandered around it but something that we don't get from drone images of Bramley Moore Dock is just how big (especially how long) the site is, but the long side of BMD (along the water treatment plant site side) is longer than the full length of Gwladys St (from the cemetery side of Walton Lane to the far side of Goodison Road).. Your closing shot (14:00 on) really brought it home how much more room there will be for people to hang out and make an occasion of the match and visit to the stadium.
Everton are being smart, if fans want mediocre to preserve history then ok👍 there choice etc. but Everton will be able to get bigger investment at the new stadium, they will also get an arena permission for concerts etc. straight away. Not my place as a lifelong Liverpool supporter to tell Everton what they should do with Goodison but with the increasing popularity of the WSL and Everton currently playing their home games at Finch Farm and LFC using Prenton Park for their home Womens Super League games it's a shame both clubs couldn't work together, demolish Goodison and build a shared 5k or10k capacity stadium that both clubs could use for home WSL games. I'd have no issue if the new mini stadium retained the Goodison name and it would retain the heritage and tradition. It will never happen of course; it would be expensive even with both clubs sharing the cost and like you say the plans to sell to the developers are already in place. Bramley Moore is a massive investment for EFC without the additional expense of what I'm proposing. We'd never agree on what colour the seats should be anyway :)

Think the beauty of Goodison is its interior. Be great if its interior could be recorded before it all comes down. Nothing wrong with "the wood" either someone pulling your leg there.
There used to be GOODISON CLOSE, at where the Beer tent /bands play on match days ? hospitality area? . My dad used to tell me they used to be the players housing when/if they played for Everton , always took that with a pinch o salt (as the Corpy used to repair the street lights in the Close) I don't think Everton owned them, but they must of bought them up and demolished em. There was a rumour that Goodison was going to be a Venue ie BANDS/Sports , even a SPEEDWAY Venue , but said local people would complain of the NOISE??? I don't think so, as the local shops/chippies etc are going to loose a lot of income, so anything apart from a huge demolition,or more houses.
Right now leaving Goodison park seems terrible for the fans the history etc but long term it’s the best option for the club to positively move forward…more capacity at Bramley moor will bring more revenue to rebuild EFC with better players etc. As a Liverpool fan I think Liverpool should of built a new stadium as well the Kop and sir kenny dalglish stands look ancient in comparison to the two new stands and Liverpool are stuck without any more room to develop in the future now.
Hiya Kevin, what are Everton going to do with Goodison Park, when they move to Bramley Dock? Everton maybe do a Wimbledon when they won the game in the last 5 minutes of the game to stay up, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
It would be cool if what they did is similar to what they did to Highbury and keep it all and turn it into flats etc. But I think they were listed buildings/stands. I love stadiums in cities and towns near to pubs etc. Been to Coventry and Reading and these are miles away from the centres. Not the same.
Its such a shame, watching this a year later knowing what could potentially happen to old trafford(being a utd fan) it must of been hard for the fans to let go of that much history and memories, thats a piece of history that and them old grounds are getting less and less, to just knock one of the oldest grounds in the country down is absolute sacrilege...england invented football its part of our history, itz good there going to do some good with the ground space but that person who said about the soul being lost may yet be right, god bless goodison
Best city in the world. I love how the supporters come togther, support each other despite the rivalry, no other city in the world has two teams so supportive of one another. On the rare occasion there's trouble it appears to be younger people who don't understand the history. Most of my 90+ relatives support Liverpool. So many families are split.
I think what they are proposing to do with goodison is horrible myself. It'd rather have stayed and done goodison up like liverpool are anfield. Bramley moore won't be home like goodison
I found it funny when they blocked the corners a couple of years ago. One corner surely because when Liverpools new main stand was built you could see Anfield through the corner on televised matches.
How duz the person know it will be souless ,the new Everton stadium is far more on top of the pitch than goodison and is been designed for atmosphere they are designing the roof for atmosphere to bounce back onto pitch and away end with no acoustic so they can't be loud ,our new stadium will have best atmosphere around
it must be quite sad for the residents having the ground right there on their doorstep for so many years, when its gone it'll feel sad as if an old friend has left.
The more I think about it with the womens game, pity they are not using the site of Goodison as the womens ground instead of Walton HP. Obviously the stadium will be knocked down but they could have then built a non-league ground (akin to Goodison in 1892) for the womens team. Oh well!
Don`t give us that "it`ll be sad when it`s gone" rubbish. People like you can`t think for themselves, you constantly harp on about "surrounded by houses" when EFC only had to purchase 6 or 8 on the Bullens road side. The fact is that 2 sides are hemmed in by properties but for some reason you insist on the whole ground!
Everton played in stanley park as st. Domingo's before moving to anfield and becoming Everton football club Everton win the first team to be presented with a trophy while playing at anfield and the reason why we moved from the landlord put the rent up the owners refused to pay more rent and moved to Goodison park the manager left his post and in 1892 become Liverpool football club manager off the top of my head I can't remember he became the first manager to manager Everton and Liverpool I could go on giving a history lesson but I'm going out tonight I hope some of my comment helps islands and agree with kev Goodison park should re main and be used by the community even if they bulldoze the main and build a smaller one use it for the woman's football

Sad to see it go. Iconic English stadium.
Ive been past the new ground right near sandhills station
Just build another tier deck on the stands and fill in and ad seats at the corners of the main stand
The whole area needed flattening
Well said...the fans won't let it be soulless!
I gotta get there before we move. From the states.
pitch and putt ?
I think what they are proposing to do with goodison is horrible myself. It'd rather have stayed and done goodison up like liverpool are anfield. Bramley moore won't be home like goodison
Onwards and upwards for the Toffees!
The little lake at 8.44 as bodies of fans who drowned while intoxecated
I found it funny when they blocked the corners a couple of years ago. One corner surely because when Liverpools new main stand was built you could see Anfield through the corner on televised matches.
Wasn't to block anfield it was done to install lifts for disabled people same on other end of park end
@@declansmith755 Thanks Declan
The east lancs road is right next the the ground
They could have knocked those little terraced houses and moved the people to kirkby
@Jamis Billson Everton fans won't allow it
it must be quite sad for the residents having the ground right there on their doorstep for so many years, when its gone it'll feel sad as if an old friend has left.
Why would it be soulless? it is in the best location of any ground ever. What is good about the current location? nothing
New stadium right next to a sewage plant💩😂
The more I think about it with the womens game, pity they are not using the site of Goodison as the womens ground instead of Walton HP. Obviously the stadium will be knocked down but they could have then built a non-league ground (akin to Goodison in 1892) for the womens team. Oh well!
Won't be souless by the river. We're not Arsenal fans.
Rent dispute.
Tin pot club. Let's be honest.
