    I am always blown away with the way you guys paint figures and the results you get . I wish you would get , kat and the rest of your crew together and create a figure painting tutorial book . I have a couple , but nothing I've seen out there compares to your methods and results . I'm sure a book like that would be hard to keep in stock , the demand would be so great . You guys are amazing !

    Me and Chie Izuma are so alike lol! I usually only use brushes, hardly ever touch my airbrush, and specialize in free hand tiny details. A normal person would hear her advices and say she didn’t say much, but me personally- I get exactly what she’s saying because I say the same thing myself: paintbrushes and paint, they’re the foundation. If you don’t know how to operate both (i.e brushing techniques, perfect thinning and color mixing), well that would be a focal point to start in. The day you understand how to thin paints to flow correctly and control your hand pulse- everything else just builds up with practice and exposure to new techniques.

    Thanks for sharing this. Its such an inspiration to see a how a pro does it!
    One question:
    So what do you define as a "decent set of paints"?
    I would like to see what the pros recommend. I noticed a lot of your paints are in prepared plastic containers.
    Maybe you can do a video on which line of paints you prefer and why.

    What lighting you use while painting?

    • @mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid
      @mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure but I highly recommend "Full spectrum" light to achieve proper color.
      Full spectrum is a neutral light that does NOT lean heavy to a warm or cool temperature.
      The temperature is measured by Kelvin and you will see number like 5000K. The K stands for Kelvin. 500K is a good full spectrum while some say 6500 but I feel that leans a bit more to the blue/cool side. Warm is usually on the lower side, like 2500 up to 3500. Red. And cool, being 7500K. Hence why I think 6500 is too close.
      The goal would be too not have a warm or cool temperature influence your eye, and everything you mix to look a certain color. Like if we were to mix a color form the Pantone color book, say 186 Red. It has to be dead on. Matching that Pantone chip, dry and sealed and so it is very important we see the color correctly and not change when we view in different room.
      You can get Full Spectrum light bulbs in any shape, bulb, strip light, etc. And you get what you pay for.
      I would assume they have their studio set up properly.

      Iwata HP-C. The best. A little pricey. I tried to learn on a cheaper model, a Pasche VL, but it NEVER worked right and spent all my time trying to get it to work correctly. Got the Iwata Hp-C, which a workhouse industry standard and was like night and day and could focus on just getting better, which only was going to happen by actually using, not trying to use.
      Worth every penny.

    You know, in the industry of art & music, the pros who made it always tell you you don't need to pursue the best "gear", just start and practice, which is true, if it's for a hobby...BUT for a career, the fact is that you are throwing yourself into a market that's already "accustom" to the high standards of work the pros been providing with their level of "gear", and that "bar of high standard quality work" keep getting raise higher and higher by the working pros, you are basically playing "catch up", therefore you'd better be DaVinci reincarnated or you know someone who knows someone, or else it's insanely hard to break into the mainstream industry.....unless you're just okay doing stuff on the sidelines.

    I use a cheap airbrush $33 USD and i am confortable with it. I think that if You are good at something You don't need expensive tools. It's just matter of creativity and skills.
