Man City have a huge wage budget allowing them to have a strong squad. They should be using that squad and rotate players to prevent injury. Wow it really is pretty simple isn’t it.
What's the difference between playing the Super cup on a Wednesday and then a league game on the following Saturday and playing a champions league fixture on a Wednesday and a league game on the following Saturday?
These player get paid an ungodly amount of money. They “work” for 3 or 4 hours a day playing a sport while the majority people have to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and more for a very very very small fraction of what football players make. Most people work jobs they hate while these lads play football. Soft generation. I have zero sympathy.
Do you have the same pressure in your 8 hour job? Do they restrict what you can do? What you can eat? People act like these players are getting some privilege...no, they work for their money. The reason why they only train for 4 hours is because if they trained more it would be counterproductive to the goals of the team...the human body is not wood or steel ( heck even wood or steel experiences material fatigue if you overuse them)
Today's footballers are pathetic. Compare their fitness to that of tennis players. They very often have to play for three, four or five hours very often in extreme heat and then have to do it again two days later. Any player who gets to a slam final has to play 7 times in the space of two weeks and each match will last a minimum of two and a half hours. For Christ sake Andy Murray played a match in the Aussie Open at 36 with a metal hip that lasted almost six hours and still won. I think players in the 50's, 60's and 70's even given that they smoked and drank heavily were fitter than the players of today. No squad rotation then. I am afraid that all the money has made today's players pampered poodles.
In the working class world this is called “overtime pay”. You work more = you get more money. It means you might get tired (/injured). But employers don’t care as long as it maximises revenue. “Trophies” and “glory” come secondary to money
of course they are. The schedule is ridiculous. The FA needs to ditch the league cup. What other country has 2 cup competitions? Man City had 6 weeks between the champions league final and their first pre-season match....and the players were expected to play the nations league in that period.
Shouldn’t ditch it. The lower league clubs love it, and some clubs rely on the TV revenue that it brings. One solution is to take the Premier League teams out of it and just have it as a Championship, League 1 and League 2 competition.
@@Discombobulate453 dont they have one of those already? Theres a cup already the u21's play that they premier league clubs don't. Isn't pre-season schedule determined by the club? And KDB did NOT play single pre-season game. He did participate marketing activities during pre-season, but isn't that also club decision? For others, why did Pep use 1st team during most of pre-season games? He could have played B-team during some of pre-season games - like many other teams do -, but he didn't. He wanted to win all pre-season games. His club wanted to make more money during pre-season, he wanted to win more games during pre-season....and now pointing fingers at who?

Thats all
😮💨Get on with it.
Every time these 2 have an argument Simon destroys Keown 😂
Footballers train 2 hours a day and get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a week. Many fans will never ever earn a total of £10m in their whole lifetime. Get a grip.
They train 2 hours a day? No son ...they train more than that....plus every game you play you have to play your utmost
@@adeyinkabenjamin9537 During the season, they train max.1½-2hrs daily. The day after a game it's 45mins-1hr max. esp. for those who played. In addition, the subs allowed has increased to 5. They complain the most as if life isn't hard for anyone outside of football
Man City have a huge wage budget allowing them to have a strong squad. They should be using that squad and rotate players to prevent injury.
Wow it really is pretty simple isn’t it.
Strong squad? You must be joking
As long Utd,Arsenal and Newcastle play on Saturday after a wednesday cl game then is fair
What's the difference between playing the Super cup on a Wednesday and then a league game on the following Saturday and playing a champions league fixture on a Wednesday and a league game on the following Saturday?
They have a 25 man squad, use your squad
Martins little smirk when Simon was talking about strikes haha
All Guardiola said was they could have moved the game to Sunday or Monday. But because they are dictated to by Sky and TNT they won't.
It's not a good product for us viewers when so many great players are injuried.
Yes. Rodri especially
is it not like playing Wed Sat when in Champions league cant understand the moaning
Clubs who play on Wed in the UCL mostly always play on Sunday
How about fifa introduce subs that can be subbed on/off during the game?
Mr jordan spot on sir.
In my opinion if you're taking the premier league clubs out of it you're still ditching it. I dont care if QPR play in it. City don't need to.
The crowded schedule is a disadvantage for premier league clubs in europer
When it happens to Liverpool they are finished,
When it happens to city they are overworked
helps that Peps spent over a £billion on building his squad over the years
Thought the same thing, we played same amount of games the year before last as they did last year we had a massive drop off in form and injuries and us fan and klopp said we were over work as we played to many game and we was laughed at an told to stop making excuses, now it’s city everyone is agreeing
@@danielsilcock985 always the way. The majority of fans envy Liverpool
How about people just use their brain and say it must affect them both instead of acting like babies crying “whataboutery” or turning it into some tribal nonsense
@@smu02nswhat's there to envy about Liverpool specially for City and their fans... People don't realise that pep only has about 200 mil more on net spend than kloop where as with that investment kloop has won 4 trophies with Liverpool while pep won 3 just last season. Given the money spent and the success that brought city and pep are far ahead of kloop and Liverpool and that justifies their spending
😂😂😂 When Liverpool had to play two games on two continents in 24 hours...I can NOT remember anyone saying this..All they said was "get on with it". Hypocrites...Bunch of clowns.🤡
This is where rotation of players come in play
Would love to see Martin plant one on Simon 😂😂 don’t know what Simon is laughing at, martins been brewing a right hand up for a while now
maybe the clubs should NOT go on tour right after the season ends? Blame the clubs NOT the fixtures.
Nope not in the slightest. Teams in the past have had far worse fixture scheduling and been told by the likes of the media and rival fans to get on with it. That shouldn’t change for Pep and his City team.
Liverpool had an enormous drop off last season due to playing so many games in 2021.
They competed in all formats till the end.
I agree with Pep you have to do more to protect the players or you will have no league.
It will not worth watching.
Pep asking for NC game to be played on Sunday and or Monday.. why couldn’t PL have Arsenal and palace playing on a Saturday and have the city game to be played for Sunday
12 hours a day, 6 days a week for minimum wage, that's overworked. Get a grip.
How about buying a bigger squad with money City spends.... Instead of buying every player on rediculous money????
City have one of the biggest wage bill in the world. With players like DeBrune, Halland (maybe even 800k) on 350-400k a week
If pep wanted they could have bought 3-4 decent players with the money they spent on players like Grealish, Gvardiol and on salaries of above mentioned players.
Every single defender of City have cost more than 50m.
Pep and City are the biggest hypocrites.
Wtf are you on? Ake and akanji are not 50m players.. Haaland is not on 800k a week..Stop talking from your backside.. City is 3rd on wage bill in the league and not far from Liverpool on 4th place..People just talk bs online nowadays
When Klopp raised this as an issue a few seasons ago, it was seen as whinging. Now the supposed “greatest manager of all time” is saying the same and hopefully those running the beautiful game will listen and not ruin it!
Lol pep been moaning about this since he first got here.

@stevenbrown6593its not true at all. Martin Keown said those words and hes been defending this nonsense alone for a long time.
If Wenger Klopp or Pep has uttered these whiney words Keown has backed them, everyone else just laughs at the two faces double standard irony of playing tournaments here there and everywhere so they can moan about genuine tournaments.
They’re not playing many more minutes than the teams in the 90’s. Ok, maybe they’re playing a few extra minutes a game now with the added extra time but. Get on with it. They’re being paid a ridiculous amount. 🤣
@@lconnerz100 exactly mate and theres never been more time wasting, drinks breaks and substitutions as there are now.
The PL could easily have changed City v Newcastle to Sunday or even Monday, they knew about the super cup game before the season even started.... I'm sure they would have bent over backwards if it'd been utd or liverpool..... 🙄
For the money they’re getting paid they should be able to play seven days a week…
So you want to kill them is it? Not even productive, if the players are constantly tired they are more likely to get injured and the overall quality of games
If money determines what’s possible does that mean you could bring someone back to life for the right price? Playing 110 minutes every day is not possible because the human body isn’t unbreakable
I’m sorry but if pep is such a great manager then he needs to be great at managing the difficult situations his greatness demands
Of course that’s why they won the treble CTID
City - 5 Titles in 6yrs,Treble
PL/FA - Schedule City Vs Top8 back to back between Oct-Dec
City Vs Establishment?🤔
funny arguments. peps mindset as a coach. he just care his player conditions. he said that from players perspective. simon's mindset as a FA board, FIFA boards, always about benefit, financial, bussiness.
chill bro. take it easy
every year we hear this. run your squad and play your games. you all get paid enough to do it.
Klopp has been talking about this for years and nothing is done. Its seen as moaning
Would love to see half these managers and footballers go to work on a building site for 8-12 hours a day 5/6 days a week… not one footballer is over worked and there well paid for it, put up or shut up and give half your wages back if you can’t deal with it
In rugby we have a squad of 30/35 players and manage their playing time. Perhaps football teams should have squads of 25 players and manage their time, oh hang on...
🙄
they do have those squads but some managers do not use the squads to the fullest
Yeah totally comparable even though you’ve just stated you have 35 players and not 25 like in football, 3 of those are GKs so it’s basically a max of 22 man squads and that’s without injuries and suspensions
@@theblues8840 u have an unlimited number from the academy

Simon is missing the point; all what’s required is consideration a game played on Wednesday and the PL insisting on a game on Saturday look at Sevilla they play on Monday? Martin is right Simon is so illogical
Fair play to pep he keeps them going but the looked jaded v Sevilla chelsea this year 🤞
Can Martin make his mind up on which end of the see-saw he sits on please....
Top clubs play many games because they compete in a lot of competitive tournaments. However, middle to bottom clubs play very little competitive games because they don’t often qualify or progress. I suggest that top teams have more players than stopping football games because majority of the teams play fewer games compared to top clubs.
Simon is always right
Last I checked pep has at least 3 players for every position in his team
Isn’t this the point of having a 25 man squad?
How is this any different from champions league nights last season. Already complaining about the schedule is ridiculous. If the team want more rest don't fly them half way around the world in pre season.
How come no one talks about Arsenal having to play on Monday and City on Saturday? Arsenal could have easily played on Saturday (with no Super Cup involvement mid week)... but this looks shitty I have to say... they could have easily put City on Sunday or Monday, Other countries protect their teams... but not PL unfortunately, not sure why, especially since this was such an easy case compared to other more busy weekends during the year 😬
Isn't pre-season schedule determined by the club? And KDB did NOT play single pre-season game. He did participate marketing activities during pre-season, but isn't that also club decision? For others, why did Pep use 1st team during most of pre-season games? He could have played B-team during some of pre-season games - like many other teams do -, but he didn't. He wanted to win all pre-season games. His club wanted to make more money during pre-season, he wanted to win more games during pre-season....and now pointing fingers at who?
exactly all this.
Maybe he played his first team in pre season because that’s the point of pre season for gods sake. It’s literally meant for getting your players ready and warmed up for the actual season ahead
City (Guardiola) choose to run with a small squad of players 15 - 16 world class first teamers.
As someone who loves football, I’d play every single minute of every day and you won’t have to pay me a dime. These players need to STFU.
When chelsea and liverpool won the ucl the prem league accomadated them in the super cup
Teams that play Champions League on Wednesday play league games Saturday. Just get on with it
So almost 12 minutes of not answering the question to why they couldnt have the match on sunday instead of saturday.
Clearly bias against City
Aaaaaaand what a surprise. Not 2 days later, the man doesn’t make a single substitution against Newcastle after he cried because he wanted 5 of them. I think it’s clear who is overworking his squad.
When the champions league returns teams will play wed - sat so what is the problem?
Just play the game on Sunday....is it that difficult?
Martin Keowns gets Intellectually knocked out 5, 6 times every time he come on by blondtop over here, today comes out with physical threats... Need to be on prime time TV.
Let the Premier League have 2 weeks break before Christmas and start back on Boxing day. Then extend the league for 2 weeks come May/June.
60+ games a season with one of the smallest squads.
This argument is now academic ,as Pep and City passed with flying colours against Newcastle
These teams have 25 players, as for city 2 full squads get on with it. Lower leagues have played twice a week for years with squads of 18-20. And if pep made substitutions then his players wouldn't get injured
Jordan seems to mixing players, chairmen and agent up as one entity. Obviously there needs to be a more open discussion here because there are money and physical issues here and there is no balance in the outcome.
It’s called a squad for a reason
The only reason is they know they are guilty of breaching FFP that’s why they weren’t very active this time around
Man united were actually found guilty not city
All that money and yet a squad can't be rotated? Pathetic.
Easily sorted stop pre-season tours to the other side of the world and give the players a proper rest.
Martin backing himself in a fight against a man still recovering from prostate cancer surgery...
Owners will hook him up with some more players.. all good
