While I may not have made myself an email like this to myself, I do sort of have a journal/diary of when I first decided to watch this show in 2016 I like to reflect on every once in a while. It was definitely a weird time in my life where ponies helped filled in voids I've been feeling. I was definitely skeptical at the start of writing that, but it was obvious I was expecting something special out of this show. Because I literally never have done or since made a diary of some kind in that manner about anything. It might be time to start watching through the show again, too, it's been far too long since I've sat down to watch FiM.
Omg I'm not the only one who does this! Back at the start of 2013, about 6 or 7 months after I first got in to MLP, I created a text file to keep a log of all the pony-related events in my life I thought were significant. I think I recall having similar feelings as you - somehow I knew this whole pony thing would be special and wanted to keep a record of it all, and I've also never kept a log for anything else. I'm still adding to it to this day where it's now over 1600 lines long, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon! The ride never ends, after all.
3:41 I love when usually funny TH-camrs gets serious and also get personal with their audience. And as for me, I think I’ll also write a letter to future me.
This was weirdly insightful on the mentality of, I think, the majority of bronies back then and I loved every second of it. It also gives me a bit of nostalgia, despite me becoming a brony one year ago but I would like to thank you Littleshy for staying a pillar of this community. Continue the great work and brohoof /)
that was a really sweet video. it turns out things changed like crazy in the ten years since you wrote that email, but in some respects, nothing has changed at all.
Man, this takes me back. I remember 2012 me thinking the show was for children before watching A Canterlot Wedding and starting to watch the show online, even in English before it got released here in Italy. I remember understanding next to nothing watching the episodes in the original dub before becoming as good in English as I am today, but being so excited when Twilight became an alicorn and the CMCs got their cutie marks. Such a nice story! If only I knew about such services (actually I maybe knew but didn't bother to use it because I thought it wouldn't last enough to sent messages 10 years into the future and also I was 7 years old). But now I am with the community for 6 years! (+- since season 5 started) How quikly the time flies? Thank you for your videos through the years!
I have been a fan since season one, it has been a wild ride, I even got banned from a pony forum when I kept my Derpy Hooves avatar when everyone was freaking out about her and trying to eradicate her from the internet. I have loved the show and still do and it was a decade well spent watching it.
Wow, talk about time flying. I’ve been watching your videos since I was about 10. (In hindsight, kind of dangerous to let a 10 year old little girl run around in an online space occupied primarily by adults, but I was pretty safe). I’m almost 20 now, and I think you are the only (still active) pony TH-camr I still regularly watch. I remember once you responded to a comment of mine on a video, and it made my whole day. (Then of course, because i was like. 13 I responded like a moron). This channel was always a safe space for me, both in a worldly and a personal manner. So I think that, just as past Littleshy didn’t expect to still be into ponies 10 years later, I didn’t either. Thanks for the journey to get here. Hopefully, even as it might slow down, it doesn’t stop any time soon. Thanks for everything
Its always great to see more positive videos of past and future self! Sometimes we tend to be harsh on either end- whether it be due to embarassment or to not come across as arrogant/overly self-praising. Been watching since 2012! I stumbled across an Owl City PMV collab with the song Take to the Sky and checked out your channel, found Cinemare Sins, and here I stayed! I still have an immense fondness for both Owl City and ponies 10 years later. I may not comment much (internet shyness stayed with age Dx) but I hope to still see you in my sub box for years to come~ /)
This is an interesting idea, kinda makes me wish I wrote some sort of similar email to myself when I joined the fandom almost 9 years ago. I'm definitely not as crazy about ponies now as I used to be in those days but it is still something that will always be with me.
Even though im a recent comer to the fandom i like how you wrote to yourself so you can reflect in the future of how far you came. You inspired me to do the same thing, in addition, im glad to see another person who has the same faith as me. Blessings to you Littleshy im si glad i found your channel you rock.
I remember the early days of the fandom when I would rewatch the first two seasons. Every night I'd watch an episode or two with a cup of sleepy time vanilla tea. I don’t watch the show as religiously as back then, but I think I always knew the show would remain special to me in some way. I didn't know before that you were religious but that's cool to hear. I feel like the lessons from MLP and my faith share a lot of common ground. I'm a better person because of them.
What a fun video. It's crazy how much things change and yet stay the same over a period like 10 years! Really wholesome "response" too. It kinda makes me want to write a time capsule message to myself in 10 years. I'm 22 now, so I think a lot will change by 2032. Also, _brohoof emoticon_ 😉
10 years ago I was well aware of Gen 4 and the Brony Community because I am huge Josh Scorcher fan (started following him in late 2010). Finally took the fall right after the S3 finale and news about EQG just dropped too. What a time to join the Herd lol, all of the Alicorn Twilight Hate and the controversy of EQG lol. I should do something special for me personally for my own 10 year anniversary. I don't do a whole lot in the fandom anymore, but I still like it and still see myself as a Brony. The last time I got super involved with any fandom prior to Gen 4 was with Sailor Moon in the 90s and I wrote and drew my own cringy fanfic and fanart lol.
@@switchmanin Lol, I heard that Hasbro had the 'bright idea' to spoil the S3 finale too by announcing "Coronation Day" merch stuff. I think I learned that through ACRacebest's channel in one of the Brony Reacts.
10 years ago I was still oblivious to Gen 4, little aware that, a year later, a now ex coworker and ex friend who HATED MLP and anything to do with it would spend so long ragging on it that I'd get curious how inaccurate he HAD to be and took a look myself, starting with Equestria Girls, which had only just come out on DVD or that that would propel me headlong into the fandom and never looking back
Seeing that message must have been so weird! It makes me a bit sad knowing we'll never meet our past selves in person... Well, now to wait another 10 years before you react to this video and for me to not recognize my own comment. Brohoof Emoticon. /)
I can understand the nonstop pony love! Even though I'm not much into the merch like I used to be, I haven't stopped being a part of the fandom and making pony art. Also, this video reminds me of It's About Time with the whole "future self" thing.
@@LittleshyFiM Heh, I only now noticed that you had the complete set in the description, I somehow missed that and responded to the /) there. Expectations subverted!
I remember when the show started I was 6, and was instantly in love. And as time passed the fandom got bigger and bigger. Now it’s been 13 years and I’m 19. I never got to go to the bronycon’s and I wish I could have. I remember coming across your videos when you were midway through season 2 and holy crap it’s been so long. You were literally a large part of my childhood and its surreal to have grown up with this community. Literally a fandom that you just had to be there to see it. Can’t wait to see this all the way through. Much love, a long time fan /)
I love this so much! I’m glad you did this video,it makes me so emotional to think how long it’s been since 2012, when the brony fandom started and when it was brand new,it feels just like yesterday when season 3 was airing on tv and I was watching it with my siblings in the early mornings, hearing words from your past self to your future self made me tear up, beautifully written both notes, mlp and this fandom has helped me through so many hard times and saved my life, honestly idk where I’d be without it, also I’ve always loved your channel! Thank you for the awesome videos! Brony forever! /)
This is soo cool! I really wish i did something like this for myself. I definitely would have sounded similar in tone, but i also think i would have known full well that i would be brony for life. Some things never change!
Its funny seeing you get an email from your past self from the glory times of MLP in 2012. I feel inspired to do the same and write an email to myself in 10 years time. I am always happy that, like other bronies (including me), you continue your life with MLP. Always keep your faith strong, and may God bless you always. /)
This was a great hit of nostalgia! It feels weird hearing about season 3 stuff as if it were current. I also wrote a letter to my future self back in 2016. I received it 2222 days later on Tuesday 22/2/22, which I'd called Twosday. Past me was very proud of this fact
Back in 2017 (when I was like, 10-11), in my 4th grade class, we wrote letters to our future selfs, and all I remember was that I was getting back into mlp, so I wrote a lot about that lol
That Comic-Con Derpy means a lot to us. Even being censored and all that annoying stuff, Derpy was still associated with muffins, giving us the hope that one day she could recover in her wall-eyed muffin-loving form.
It's always fun to look back, especially on something good in life. I can still remember the episode that really convinced me to keep watching the show (DragonShy) and the moment I realized I was a Brony (Winter Wrap Up 🎶,) good times. Thanks for sharing your memories with us and God bless! /)
What a cool idea, I didnt know that there is a Site for sending you an email. Pretty nice and notalgic of you to share this with us. When we became a Brony, we didnt knew what show we're getting in to. XD I should use this emote more /)
I just went to check, and When I'm a Sweetie does have 80k views, so maybe it was that that past you was talking about. Will you make a video of past you responding to future you when past you receives the email?
I'm reassured by how your faith has remained since you were younger. So many people online and in Fandom spaces are atheistic and it's weird and disheartening. Seeing another person casually be a Christian and not be one of the weird ones really brightens my day. Lol if only there was a Jesus fish emoticon, that was like the bro hoof equivalent in the early church.
I sometimes wonder if there are a lot more Christians online than we think, but who are afraid to be open about it because we think we’re alone. I’m glad to see that there are so many people in this comments section as happy as I am to find out Littleshy is a Christian too /)
had no clue Littleshy is a Christian. that's awesome. as a fellow Christian, it was great hearing past you send future you encouragement, so present you could thank past you for helping send future you in the present, encouragement.. yeah i confused myself with that.. I do hope you are staying strong in your faith Littleshy, and continue to do so. To anyone out there who is suffering i hope you keep going too, and one day you'll be encouraging others. ps. the only thing i do not like about this channel is the fact their aren't more Cinemare sins videos. i've binged them several times in a row, but would love to see more. Love and peace to all, and God bless.. /)
Not sure why people haven't been talking about it. But I think i know who spikes father is at least. I'm pretty sure His father is Burnferno, I'm like 80% sure. Everything matches up twords the end
I get that feeling. As a 10 yo kid I wrote myself an old fashioned letter in a time capsule at school thinking I would grow out of pokemon after growing up. I did stop playing for a bit, mostly buying the games but still emulating them. I'm 28 now and I just bought the latest 3 pokemon games and play online with my friends and some clients I do commission art for. I did also start watching mlp 10 years ago back in college and it was a cinfusing time for me but it cemented my personality. "If it's not hurting anyone and you enjoy it then it's fine and nothing to be ashamed of" and I'm glad I stayed true to myself while also maturing into a responsible person. How time flies but some things just never change. /)
Fluttershy is from Joltage! I'm not sure if he's still available to commission, but there are a decent number of artists who make lifesize plushies. They often have long waitlists though.
Even though I’m not apart of any religion. That bit about “not losing sight of your faith” and “that god is still with you” was absolutely beautiful.
Im Christian and that bit gave me a morale boosters to keep going.

Completely forgot about that protest against alicorn twilight
@@switchmanin Lol, I heard that Hasbro had the 'bright idea' to spoil the S3 finale too by announcing "Coronation Day" merch stuff. I think I learned that through ACRacebest's channel in one of the Brony Reacts.
@@Zodia195 funny how that one announcement TECHNICALLY hinted at one of the very last episodes of season 9
10 years ago I was still oblivious to Gen 4, little aware that, a year later, a now ex coworker and ex friend who HATED MLP and anything to do with it would spend so long ragging on it that I'd get curious how inaccurate he HAD to be and took a look myself, starting with Equestria Girls, which had only just come out on DVD or that that would propel me headlong into the fandom and never looking back
Looking forward to the 2032 ten-year email!
Seeing that message must have been so weird! It makes me a bit sad knowing we'll never meet our past selves in person...
Well, now to wait another 10 years before you react to this video and for me to not recognize my own comment.
Brohoof Emoticon. /)

There is so much i didn’t know of the fandom and so much more to learn. Thanks for teaching me about this brohoof emoticon /).

That was actually adorable
Love your vids dude! A friend of mine showed me your channel 😊 also I love your pony collection!
I can understand the nonstop pony love! Even though I'm not much into the merch like I used to be, I haven't stopped being a part of the fandom and making pony art.
Also, this video reminds me of It's About Time with the whole "future self" thing.
Hmm, I might do something like this, wonder if I'll still watch mlp in 10 years
That is both an amazing idea in itself and also incredibly wholesome
And to add to that it's scary as heck how time flies... 10 years, man...

Seeing you change through the past 10 years is awsome and I'm still looking forward to the future!
This was so wholesome. 💜
Ya know your reply left me with a goofy smile and feeling a sense of delight
This was really emotional tbf, I love this. Thanks for sharing, Littleshy!
Great video, pretty interesting, I really like the idea of taking a look back
I love this so much!

Yo, good video. I wish in this year make a 0,1% of your merch. Love yours video about everything wrong with... Hope you'll get all you want.
Its funny seeing you get an email from your past self from the glory times of MLP in 2012. I feel inspired to do the same and write an email to myself in 10 years time. I am always happy that, like other bronies (including me), you continue your life with MLP. Always keep your faith strong, and may God bless you always. /)
2012 was 10 years ago?! I'm old!!!
💀💀💀
I know. I can't believe I was 26 10 years ago
I feel that. 2012 was a lifetime ago in a lot of ways for me.
Ten years since the world ended 😔
This was a great hit of nostalgia! It feels weird hearing about season 3 stuff as if it were current. I also wrote a letter to my future self back in 2016. I received it 2222 days later on Tuesday 22/2/22, which I'd called Twosday. Past me was very proud of this fact
Happy new year Littleshy
Back in 2017 (when I was like, 10-11), in my 4th grade class, we wrote letters to our future selfs, and all I remember was that I was getting back into mlp, so I wrote a lot about that lol
Amen. Holding onto your faith is hard sometimes..
2:35 Lol now u have 100 times more than that, we will always support you!
That Comic-Con Derpy means a lot to us. Even being censored and all that annoying stuff, Derpy was still associated with muffins, giving us the hope that one day she could recover in her wall-eyed muffin-loving form.
Congrats on reaching 200k subs littleshy! 🎉

XD I should use this emote more /)
(\
I’m glad to see that there are so many people in this comments section as happy as I am to find out Littleshy is a Christian too /)
This was a pretty great, and insightful look into what it was like being a brony back then. Here's to another 10 years of pony /)

I love the end

Long live Ponies !!
had no clue Littleshy is a Christian. that's awesome. as a fellow Christian, it was great hearing past you send future you encouragement, so present you could thank past you for helping send future you in the present, encouragement.. yeah i confused myself with that..

Oh and welcome to g5 past littleshy!
So great,,, /)

I did this before and responded furthter to the future :) It's like writing a diary entry, but with a set time of reading it again to reminisce.
Oh man, 10 years. It's been a ride! Thanks for sharing! /)
(\
I've never heard of/seen the brohoof emoticon, but now i think I'll be using it all the time! /)

this is awesome and precious to see and to reflect on what change or not is always good once in while :) /)*(\
hey Littleshy
this was awesome, but i wonder why not send a new one to you in 10 years?
could maybe be cool?
Fun fact: Stare Master debuted 1 day after STS-133 launched
I still use the brony hoof bump lol helps to low key point out our ppl /)

@@LittleshyFiM happy new year man! /)
There was a part of my life where I was obsessed with ponies
Not sure why people haven't been talking about it. But I think i know who spikes father is at least. I'm pretty sure His father is Burnferno, I'm like 80% sure. Everything matches up twords the end
Hah! That's amazing!
(\
I must know where to get one of those giant fluttershy plushes
Fluttershy is from Joltage! I'm not sure if he's still available to commission, but there are a decent number of artists who make lifesize plushies. They often have long waitlists though.
God is always with you, and everyone we just need to let him guide us.
