      I don’t think the R&A will let them. The only way to make a driver go longer is to do what Bryson has worked out what he needs to do to make it go longer.

    • @paulsmith2990
      @paulsmith2990 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they will but it will be a few yards over 5 or 6 years now instead of every new driver that comes out. Unless we all go down ur Plath and train for distance

    Will be good when the new ones go into second hand sale groups after 1-3 rounds. Scuff marks across the top and white tee lines running 45 degrees across the bottom.

      And the exact thing has happened with GT series. Sooo many TSR drivers for sale, and they are actually cheaper than the TSi3. Golfers are mental.

    I think we have reached the point when we are dealing with minimal differences from year to year. I know they have to come out with new products but based on the USGA limits that we are at there isn't much further to go without having the club hit it without you holding it!!! I would like the TS2 in the giveaway!! Thank you

    still have my 917D2 and when I tested the first TS drivers got the same exact distance. Could tell off of mishits slightly less distance lost nothing worth spending that amount of money on at the moment. Having someone properly fit the clubs and you being comfortable with it much more important than having the latest and greatest every couple years

    I’ve been wanting to change my driver for 18 months... been for 3 test/fitting (2 at American Golf and 1 from local pro). Never been more than a couple of yard gains over my current TM M1!
    Best thing to come out of my last visit was 2 tips that got me drawing the ball 5-10 yards over my usual 10 yard fade.
    Just gonna spend my money on lessons me thinks 🤔

  • @timstickney1401
    @timstickney1401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think Titleist or any OEM would say a club isn't longer if it wasn't (and have data to prove it). So TSi is longer than TS. Nice video Mark.

  • @nickholland1494
    @nickholland1494 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I play a 913 currently and have since 2014. I don’t think year on year you would expect much difference, unless there was a complete change of philosophy. Great looking clubs. Tried the sim and the ping new drivers at my club just struggled in the studio tbh.
    New irons coming in November so a driver on the back burner for now unfortunately. Sad face!

  • @troyrambo6804

  • @andrewosborn8954
    @andrewosborn8954 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not sure that these would go any longer than my 917D3. As always its dependent on strike. I think we have been there for a couple of years on distance, just the miss hits going further with the face technology.

  • @dhanover69
    @dhanover69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looking forward to the New TSI 3, base on reviews I’ve seen is the newer TSI is longer and straighter. Is it enough to upgrade from a TS 3 10.5 to a TSI 10 ? Accuracy and consistency is #1 factor for me

  • @benmackay7525
    @benmackay7525 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Improvement will change from person to person. Like you said it gets to a point where you are testing the guy holding the stick not the stick itself. If you have 10 year old club might aswell go the i if you have a ts might as well stick with it unless your last fitting was way off.

  • @paulnagle6867
    @paulnagle6867 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very similar Mark. New TSi's are just more fitable with the weight arrangement and maybe spin rate slightly lower due to different friction areas across the face.

  • @brettkajar9516
    @brettkajar9516 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So fundamentally ZERO net benefit for the vast majority of punters trying to upgrade. All quality products but the only real difference is what sound or look you like and if you've got the $$$ to buy one. Don't tell Taylormade because every new one of their Drivers for the last 8 years is 12-15 yards longer than the last one (and FYI - I have an M4 which I am very happy with). Totally agree with you, given the regulations and face limits, we have reached the zenith but round and round in circles we must go because marketing trumps facts.

  • @bradmoulden1657
    @bradmoulden1657 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The marketing spin is all the manufacturers have as do not see big gains in many new drivers. I am a "mid handicapper" and have an original M2 which was fitted for in 2016, for my standard of golf having occasionally tested new drivers am yet to see any improvement from new offerings. Having said that would love to take your old TS3 into a local fitter and prove that some newer models can offer better results!

  • @kendallpears7790
    @kendallpears7790 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It will only be a matter of 2-3 yards if anything. I think we are pretty much at the limit in terms of head design. There are other ways to get more distance as you have often stated Mark.

  • @sebastianwankko6401
    @sebastianwankko6401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My issue with drivers is that yeah, I wouldn’t mind the old model for a discounted price because the performance is not all that different. However, I would not be able to find a place to get a fitting for the old model. So then I could get a deal but not get fit and then the possible performance difference could be significant. Thoughts?

    I think that the TSi3 is fractionally longer than the TS3 - but only due to the launch conditions being fractionally better/different i.e. lower spin and perhaps lower launch (yes, I did watch the TXG comparison video). Not minded to buy the TSi3 though.

Went to the store this weekend and tested several new drivers that are on sale. I didn't purchase any because I hit them all equally bad. Keeping the old cheap driver until my skill level improves or I win one of these.

  • @Psychedelic63

    Probably after playing a lot and getting use to the new TSI versions surely the new tech will help your overall stats helping slight mis-strikes so i'd say the new the TSI 3 with a slight ability to dial yourself in would be the way to go. Mark you faded most , have you tried a pressure plate to examine your weight transfer compared to the timing of your swing?

    The new TSi2-3 might be 2-3 yds longer when compared to TS2-3. There might be very small incremental increase in the new drivers and if you have been properly custom fit for the old TS2-3 the gains might be really small 😅 However in terms of looks I definitely prefer the looks of the TSi3 a lot. It’s looks really beautiful and sleek in my eyes 🤩❤️❤️❤️

    I've been through 3 generations of Ping drivers over the past 12 years and nothing is getting longer. I reckon the last 2 clubs have definitely been less leaky though with more shots staying on the fairway despite strikes that weren't perfect.
