"I'm not familiar with this Exploring Series fella, and he doesn't seem like the adventurous type" 🚬 "but I gotta say he's got a good set of pipes on him, practically the voice of an angel" 🚬 "and this hellhole of a city could do with some divine intervention"
My favorite SCP series are both Lord blackwood and Murphy law, I love the Victorian new age explorer setting and the noir detective setting, great opportunities for story telling. Thank you for this.
Id personally put the bellerverse before Murphy. There's just something about "post"-post-apocalypse worlds (meaning that its been so long after the apocalypse that another, though less developped civilization has developped., the bellerverse gave me huge Caves of Qud vibes where everything is weird due to both paranormal and technology.
Murphy's narrative slips seem to be due to Nobody attempting to change his genre, the small portable reality anchor the two O-5s used, and Murphy himself going through a bit of a mid-life crisis. He has been "Murphy" for so long, that he can't just reckonsle the life of a lonely private eye in the real world. How can a man survive months, years withouth work or pay? Without people, without a home, without any form of social life? I think Murphy is evolving into something far more fleshed out than a narrative character...he's becoming human. Lauden and Murphy might be merging into the same person.
This channel is just the best. Not only does this guy have a great voice, but he really brings out what makes these stories entertaining. It's one thing to just read story verbatim, it quite another to have engaging music and editing and put extra effort into the acting behind the reading.
Ever since I was a kid I was always a sucker for pulp detective stuff. This just takes that childhood love and combines it With something that I now love as an adult. Making something perfect.
Love Film Noir and SCP stuff so this is perfect combination for me! Also the first background song, "Private Investigator" was used in the "Narrate" games in Whose Line Is it Anyway. Instantly recognize it!
I was recently listening to a retelling of Fred, the self inserting character, and was thinking that he needs to be involved with pataphysics, or maybe one of the Murphy Law stories. And then, what do I hear? Eight minutes in and Murphy is talking to his friend, "Fred." Apparently my idea wasn't original.
I somehow missed this the first time it was posted! Also, I don’t think I’ve ever posted this, but your Murphy Law narration is some of my favorite of your work. It’s 👌👌👌👌
I find it interesting that when back into a corner and watered down by the foundations attempt to contain him, he can simply brute force the narrative forward by yelling out what he needs or wants to happen. It's to the point that he can even overpower an S.R.A. Very interesting and...overpowered to an extent.
I love and appreciate the videos with all parts of a series combined, but at the same time I cannot express the depths of my despair when I realized this wasn't a huge new 2-hour video drop about a new article 😭😭
Hey man, I can imagine that you are uploading the combined videos for views/subs while you are recovering from last October and i hope you are doing well. Its still crazy that you did all that and it was super cool to go through all of them and i can only imagine the work it took. That said i hope youre taking some time to yourself and not worrying about the channel. I am SURE you'll hit 1 mil soon and there couldn't be a more deserving person. Thanks for all the content and specifically both Murphy Law vids (and what hallened to site 13) since they are my favorite vids of yours. Hope you're doing well and having a good start to the year! I know you're always ready to give someone a bit of the business.
Can someone explain why Murphy was able to escape the trap he walked into so easily? Did he really kill two of the O5 Council just by narrating it into existence? So many questions for part 2.
Yep. He's an anomaly that can narrate things into existence so long as they comport with plot armor or plot progression for a film noir detective, so he's pretty much omnipotent within those parameters.
@@YouLoseI’m not entirely sure, but reality anchors have been written to fail or not be effective enough in other stories. Maybe “that humming stops” was enough to overrule it?
@@YouLose I'm pretty sure he breaks through the anchors though doesn't he? I'd have to revisit to check. Also, if they did kill him then removed his body from the anchors effect, I would want it written that the corpse vanishes. Then sometime later, we get a new Murphys law post, where he is doing his thing like normal, and in passing refers to "that strange coma he'd been in last year, but nothing can keep a rough n tumble gumshoe detective down"
I could really see this one. I'm imaging this like Sin City, all black and white, but with pops of color here and there for the important characters. Except for Murphy, the archetypal noir detective, and of course, Nobody, who is Nobody.
I really want more of this i love listening to these while i'm doing anything.. i know none of the files are real but I have to look at it prospectively as if they are to really grasp the danger and the darker they are the more I'm peaked in interest I don't know why my mind does this but apparently I love it or it's just my brain firing the feel good juice in my head by the depth you describe things leaving me wanting more
This is Murphy and he is ready to give anyone a bit of the business he is hard and handsome and has a face you can hit with a reckoning ball and come out inscaved lmao
The twist with the O5 is especially great because it doesn't make sense. It's an early hint that someone or something is messing with the narrative because such a mundane act of corruption fits great in a noir novel, but not within the usual SCP foundation setting where the stakes are higher. O5s being corrupt or sinister is far from unheard of but it's not usually such mundane corruption. Especially not when it relates to 231.
Really enjoying going back and giving some of these larger stories, might be time to go through and clean out the double entries in the playlists so it's just the one combined video? Just a thought.
"You have a good day now, Mr. Lawton." (Murphy winces at the name) "Stop callin' me that..." 😑 "Whatever suits you, Mr. Law... Whatever suits you." Lolol that part gets me everytime. I always give a little chuckle when I hear it.
I'm a big fan. Been listening to you every week for years. Never played 40k. Just Dnd. Still enjoying the new avenue. My question to you is. Do you think the SCP universe is in a low swing? Are the writers growing out of it? Lol it's understandable. Curious what you think. Hope to hear from you! Keep on!!
"Like a $500 image of a pixel monkey, I didn't buy it" funniest line I've heard all year
Pew, pew, pew!
I actually genuinely appreciate the "All Parts" uploads, they're excellent for resting, chores and other kinds of extended listening.
Playing strategy games while listening to SCP
@@opensourceradionics Project Zomboid here, hell yea! Normally its zombie fiction but gotta switch it up.

Murphy Law will slap 😂
Murphy Law is one of the greatest characters in SCP. Never talked about it either.

The VIP room part was fantastic voice acting, well done
I'm so glad you did this one! Your voice is perfect for the "Film Noir" style.
A Hard hitting detective and the scp is a mix so perfect yet so weird
"a vaguely Egyptian woman"
I wonder what makes someone vaguely Egyptian looking
