It's always been a downside, didn't need MW2019 to figure that out, But i never ran into any hackers in 2019 or mid 2020, When Cold war beta dropped and everyone slowly migrated over is when i started noticing few hackers but the game was already dead by that point it didn't matter, MW2019 i think was the shortest lived Cod game (Multiplayer), Bo4 lasted until early 2020 for me and every other Cod stayed relevant even in the slightest ways. I sometimes jump back on Bo2 and WaW just to have some fun, i haven't started up MW2019 since late 2020, One thing i never understood is why your rank resets every "Season" so when you log on games like CW your ranks back to 0 and you don't get that nostalgic feeling like you do on older ones, seeing your prestige level and then reliving all your old memories and such. never get that feeling with any of these new Cods. Just get blasted with a bunch of cosmetic skins that add no gameplay value and look silly, When i jumped on MWII and saw Nicki Minaj as a playable character i knew this game was done. It puts you into shadow ban lobbies. You will be searching at 200ms ping but never be able to find a match.
No? This is what happens when servers for a platform die down in popularity. Look at Black Ops Ii for an example - I could do so all day, it's fantastic - the PC servers aren't very active. Even including the Plutonium private servers, the game doesn't often reach much more than 100 players at any given time. I imagine that on xbox 360, however, people always go back to it because it's simply always been a franchise that has been more popular on consoles. The only reason the game dies and matches get hard to find if you turn off crossplay is because you probably play on PC, and I haven't seen many PC players lately (at least not on MW19. Though I have been playing with a controller, so that might affect it).

CoD games, like it or not, have always been more popular on consoles. This is just a fact of life. Im not against crossplay and as a xbox player i took a great pride in stomping on anyone that was pc. But also once fov has been exposed i personally hate that my experience wasnt fair. Essentially we're not even playing the same game, it just looks like it. Idc what anyone says when you make certain adjustments you get to move around faster. In a 2d world i think these things actually matter. Like fov and sens changes the game drastically, and frames reign king. I believe its some unmentionables as far as inconsistencies in the system still to this day that needs to be fix. Honestly to be transparent the whole game itself seems to be designed for the pc players. As in is no long a casual or competitive shooter, its a content simulator. I think we the community are missing that.
Cross play options should give the player the ability to choose who they cross play with! As a example, It would be awesome in the option menu, under cross play, if it gave a option to select Xbox players, Playstation players, and PC players. Then you select which players can join in your lobby. That would be awesome. Much better than "cross play on or off?"
the player base is too small for this kind of matchmaking. you would sit in matchmaking for 30 min until it finds 150 other players with your skill rating and connection. keep in mind 90% of the player base quit.
Certain platforms would literally die if this happened and Activision knows this. Knowing the majority, they just want PC out of the equation despite crossplay being the only thing keeping the PC side of CoD alive to begin with. Until PC gets the same amount of players the consoles get, that’ll never happen.

Seasons ruined the game. Instead of them making a full game on release they have excuses now to slowly release game modes etc during the life cycle. I remeber during Cold War all I wanted to play was gun game and I had to wait for a future season… to solve this issue, keep battlepass just for warzone
I actually don't notice these things like cross play or skill bases ranking as when I play COD I get better with matches, improve on mistakes and have a positive KD. Only time I have noticed it is when I play with friends who don't play much COD, or people that are bad resulting in the other team having kill streaks and momentum to kill the whole squad
That's fair cause it can be even worse than console vs pc. I remember back when PUBG mobile first released, we have pc emulator players. So we have MnK players, with aim assist, against phone users. It was fixed a few weeks later fortunately, separating emulator/controller players with actual mobile players
It doesn't have it anymore. People would just log into codm play a match then connect a controller to play against touch controller players. So instead of working on fixing that problem they just disabled it.

Cross-play is a mandatory thing for new games. I still think that the possibility to play with your friend regardless the platform is something fantastic.
Crossplay is fine as an opt in feature like you get matched with PC if you play with PC but gave the optiom to opt in full crossplay either by ticking a box or by having a teammate in your squad that is on console. However I'm not a fan of forced crossplay which is what most companies are doing nowadays.
Fun fact, cross play wasn't a thing for so long because Playstation didn't want it and said it wasnt possible, but fortnite had a "bug" that allowed it, and it soon became the standard

i like crossplay but i do understand that in a competitive gameplay like cod without anticheats was taken advantage by pc. A friend of mine has bought an PC, before that we all played on the PS5 together (crossplay ofc disabeld). After a while he told us that it is so easy to buy a cheat-subscription. A few minutes later, he got the subscription and we hopped online to play some rounds. He could tell us exactly what kind of guns our opponents had, what perks, attachments, how far away they were and what lvl, rank etc. they had. After a few matches it got boring af, knowing what hell of an advantage we always had, so we told him that we want to play console only. Now we don’t play with him anymore, bc he sticked to the PC (FPS, Art of war sound option, wallhack) 😂 It is a damn shame that activision doesn’t work on a solution to prevent this type of shit. and knowing almost every PC player uses cheats, crossplay is literally a no go for console players. There is even a free cheat option according to him, 25m wallhack with a bit of adjustable auto lock. Pathetic Crossplay console only would be the solution or a REAL anti cheat system.

No but what did ruin cod is SBMM, bc the matching worked as follows. You got some bad, decent, and then really good players in EVERY lobby which gave you an opportunity to improve. But with SBMM it seems like when you win a lot it just puts you up against people was better than you, and when you lose it puts you with people way worse than you. There is no in between and also idk but sbmm probably matches match making a little harder, bc instead of just finding a match quickly it looks for the appropriate players to pair you up with.
The simple fix is to have cross-platform be selective. If your on pc you will not get any console players in your games unless you are in a party with a console player. And if your console then both Xbox and playstation can play togethor but no pc unless you have a pc in your party
Funny enough, in Crash Team Rumble, the main menu states "Cross Play Enabled.", but there's no option to turn it off. It's probably pointless as there's only the Playstation version and the Xbox version and no Nintendo Switch and PC versions. Not to mention that the entirety of the small active community play mostly on Playstation. I have the Xbox version and I hardly find Xbox players.

Crossplay saved a lot of games. Look at Apex Legends….i remember how long it would take to find matches before crossplay and that was on PS4. Friends said it was also horrible on PC when it came to matchmaking. Crossplay definitely helped a lot of these games especially CoD
I’m on PC. Crossplay saved and even revived my interest in CoD. The fact that I can now play CoD without worrying about the playerbase dying after the first few months of release is a blessing along with being able to play with friends and relatives without dropping hundreds on a new platform just for a few sessions. Activision is just lazy and refuses to fix basic issues and now the PC community is getting all the blame.

Seasons ruined the game. Instead of them making a full game on release they have excuses now to slowly release game modes etc during the life cycle. I remeber during Cold War all I wanted to play was gun game and I had to wait for a future season… to solve this issue, keep battlepass just for warzone
I actually don't notice these things like cross play or skill bases ranking as when I play COD I get better with matches, improve on mistakes and have a positive KD.
Only time I have noticed it is when I play with friends who don't play much COD, or people that are bad resulting in the other team having kill streaks and momentum to kill the whole squad

I remember back when PUBG mobile first released, we have pc emulator players. So we have MnK players, with aim assist, against phone users. It was fixed a few weeks later fortunately, separating emulator/controller players with actual mobile players

It doesn't have it anymore. People would just log into codm play a match then connect a controller to play against touch controller players. So instead of working on fixing that problem they just disabled it.
It brings with it longer game life, is nice to see different lobbies instead of just team Deathmatch but it has its disadvantages
if there was a dedicated group of modes with crossplay that would be dope so you have a private crossplay match or an online crossplay match
Love it or hate it, crossplay keeps old games alive. I mean combining the playerbase into one huge pool instead of seperate pools means youll still find matches

You cannot turn off crossplay
As a pc player I love it the excuse of us having an advantage is somewhat true but SBMM is there anyways so it doesn’t matter we play vs ppl with same skills or even higher if u consider console player which a locked behind the hardware barrier to unfold all their skills.
It’s just awesome to hop on Cold War and find lobby’s in every game mode wich is unthinkable of old platform locked games
Cross-play is a mandatory thing for new games. I still think that the possibility to play with your friend regardless the platform is something fantastic.
Crossplay is fine as an opt in feature like you get matched with PC if you play with PC but gave the optiom to opt in full crossplay either by ticking a box or by having a teammate in your squad that is on console.
However I'm not a fan of forced crossplay which is what most companies are doing nowadays.
Fun fact, cross play wasn't a thing for so long because Playstation didn't want it and said it wasnt possible, but fortnite had a "bug" that allowed it, and it soon became the standard
its good because i am on ps4 and practically no one has mics but when i use crossplay I can get into good games with funny or helpful players with mics

Disabling crossplay for me on Xbox is a nightmare to the point I'm constantly being bombarded with a message asking me for permission to disable it. It's so bad that I have to leave it off.
I quite like the introduction of Crossplay into games. It’s brought the platforms a little closer and has helped tons of people meet new friends.

i like crossplay but i do understand that in a competitive gameplay like cod without anticheats was taken advantage by pc. This is the reason why i prefer anything non pvp related to be allowed with crossplay but in pvp either make everyone play on the same playing field or just don't put crossplay on pvp

A friend of mine has bought an PC, before that we all played on the PS5 together (crossplay ofc disabeld).
After a while he told us that it is so easy to buy a cheat-subscription. A few minutes later, he got the subscription and we hopped online to play some rounds.
He could tell us exactly what kind of guns our opponents had, what perks, attachments, how far away they were and what lvl, rank etc. they had.
After a few matches it got boring af, knowing what hell of an advantage we always had, so we told him that we want to play console only.
Now we don’t play with him anymore, bc he sticked to the PC (FPS, Art of war sound option, wallhack) 😂
It is a damn shame that activision doesn’t work on a solution to prevent this type of shit. and knowing almost every PC player uses cheats, crossplay is literally a no go for console players.
There is even a free cheat option according to him, 25m wallhack with a bit of adjustable auto lock. Pathetic

No but what did ruin cod is SBMM, bc the matching worked as follows. You got some bad, decent, and then really good players in EVERY lobby which gave you an opportunity to improve. But with SBMM it seems like when you win a lot it just puts you up against people was better than you, and when you lose it puts you with people way worse than you. There is no in between and also idk but sbmm probably matches match making a little harder, bc instead of just finding a match quickly it looks for the appropriate players to pair you up with.

The simple fix is to have cross-platform be selective. If your on pc you will not get any console players in your games unless you are in a party with a console player. And if your console then both Xbox and playstation can play togethor but no pc unless you have a pc in your party
Funny enough, in Crash Team Rumble, the main menu states "Cross Play Enabled.", but there's no option to turn it off. It's probably pointless as there's only the Playstation version and the Xbox version and no Nintendo Switch and PC versions. Not to mention that the entirety of the small active community play mostly on Playstation. I have the Xbox version and I hardly find Xbox players.
As a pc player, crossplay is the only way I'm really able to find matches in cold war. I'm so thankful because I rarely see other pc players

Because that's where true gamers are. Xbox isn't as expensive as pc. Cheating is too easy on pc, virtually impossible on xbox. Playstation has easily allowed cheaters on there too. True gamers know xbox is legit.

Crossplay has many problems. For example I play for honor on ps4 and when I turn off the crossplay I can’t find any match because most of the console players don’t know/care about this feature so I am forced to play with PC players

I think that its a great thing if they just made it so that you have an option to turn off individual consoles, so that if you have a friend who plays Playstation, but youre on xbox, you can still do that without having to worry about pc players

Crossplay saved a lot of games. Look at Apex Legends….i remember how long it would take to find matches before crossplay and that was on PS4. Friends said it was also horrible on PC when it came to matchmaking. Crossplay definitely helped a lot of these games especially CoD

I’m on PC. Crossplay saved and even revived my interest in CoD. The fact that I can now play CoD without worrying about the playerbase dying after the first few months of release is a blessing along with being able to play with friends and relatives without dropping hundreds on a new platform just for a few sessions. Activision is just lazy and refuses to fix basic issues and now the PC community is getting all the blame.
