Been to that park many many many times. It’s absolutely beautiful, BUT That dock is what happens when a non-kayaker designs a kayak launch (probably with the help of a commissioned dock salesman). Great place to just sit and watch the water though 😎
yes , i was going to say those are the worst kayak launches ive ever seen, there is one of those in my area and the first time i saw it , i said, well thats not going to work...for sure the person who designed it doesnt kayak, thats government for ya.
Yeah I went to that park with my wife looking for good launches in Marathon, and we were disappointed with that as well. We ended up going to Big Pine Key.
Was back there in the Hobie 3 weeks ago with a high incoming tide and didn't have tons of luck. Grabbed a couple snapper with live pilchards, and got cut off by a cuda... but beyond that, I didn't see anything particularly exciting. Nice peaceful spot though!
I have a rule, never buy coffee from a someone who doesn't love coffee. Really a shame they didn't seem to consult with anyone that might actually kayak fish and might use the launch. You could add steps down into the water and that could help with access, but the dual "U" shaped launches would make it difficult to get the kayak back to the apex of the "U" while still on the dolly. It's a shame to spend that much money on launch intended for kayaks and really miss a good opportunity to get it done the best way.
It amazes me the money I see spent on special launches for kayaks where they are vertually unusable. To be certified to design and build one of these, you should be required to use 10 different built kayak launches with a kayak of at least 14 feet.
Not many people know how hard it is to learn the area. Even when the new area is in the same state. Good stuff bro.

Remember back in KW when Steve would fish while he talked about fishing? That was cool.
Lived at the pelican on grassy; worked at duck key marina; loved toms island and the ocean.
Please wear your seatbelt, Steve! You know how bad the accidents are in the keys! We'd hate to lose you and your great videos.

Living the dream dude . Wish we had that kind of water in texas :/
I was wondering why your videos stopped showing up, and it seems I got un-subscribed. Well, I'm back because I love 🎣!
And good if they would have made the ramp to meet the water like regular boat ramps but kayak ramps
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Awesome stuff Steve think I’m gonna have to buy one of your shirts next Friday oh yeah another one for the kayak pack
You say kayak launch. I say new bait spot!
I literally live right down the street
Talk to the city so they can redesign that ramp
Steve, is Key West or Marathon better for Kayak Fishing?
You don't make a hoddie t-shirt with the snook logo yet ?

wow. that's a really poorly designed 'kayak' launch. i mean it's a kayak dock. not a launch at all. someone did not understand the assingment
Or designed the kayak launch pad does not own a kayak
