13:08 💞 Riding with your body is the correct way to ride in all disciplines 💞. A rider should never be steering with the reins. It’s all body. Yes. Even hunter jumpers. That’s why taking dressage lessons even as a hunter jumper is SUPER important. Not just for the rider but for the horse.
Amy Louise hey do you have any tips for not using the reins so much...I used to be really short so could not reach really under the saddle pad so it was all rein now it’s kicking my but
Finn was the best behaved when that snow fell. And storm was the worse! That was crazy but amazing to see the progress with him and scary situations. 💕
@@DayByDayVlogs Finn did really well and Storm did too with sound, he quickly brought his attention back to Gabby though. Laura have you thought about for trail rides this summer possibly riding Skye and it would good bonding experience for you and her.
I kind of wish I started riding the way Brooklynn is starting. When I first learned to ride, I got on the horse and my instructor just said to take the reins and start walking. He never walked next to me or held onto the horse. He just sort of sent me on my way and told me what to do. He is the type that is just like “suck it up and go for it”. I did have many lunge line lessons, but I always had the reins in my hands. Although the way Brooklynn is learning would probably change the way I ride now, I think the method my instructor used was also very helpful. I think I learned to be brave when it comes to riding and being near horses. I was never really scared to try new things or take it to the next level, so I am grateful for the start to my riding journey☺️
That’s why I love this channel. You guys don’t do crazy/dangerous challenges just for the video. I hate when people are stupid and risk their lives or the lives of another person or animal just for views. It’s sad, mean, and dumb. I appreciate that you guys actually care about the safety of yourselves and your animals❤️
I love your videos because they help me get better at my riding! i watch Sophie and Gabby in there lessons and by watching them, i have gotten much better in my trotting!! Thank You!!
After deciding to come back to horses after my accident a few years ago, your videos were the first I watched and you guys make me so excited to be back into it! Tomorrow I'm starting work as a stablehand at a brand new horse centre alongside a natural horsemanship trainer and equine massage therapist and they are going to mentor me and teach me how to look after their barn when they're gone. I seriously don't think I would've had the courage to put it out there into the Universe if it wasn't for you Laura. I listened to what my heart was trying to tell me and this amazing opportunity opened up
Kids are falling... All around me (in the arena)... This is spring everyone... horses are crazy...😂😂 Side note i started rinding barback without anyiting just holding ont to the mane, it was back in the old days, i fell a cuple of times, but when i got into the saddle I was more confident. I think some people should start riding this way of course not childrens since they're weak for this. I'm a hungarian and in here some places are still teach riding this way and I feel like this is the right way to do it, but not for everyone.
Im impressed with storm and gabby cause storm was mid air when the snow fell and gabby the way she calmed him down so fast was amazing and Sophie, Finn and Her were so calm during it all Finn did was looks around and stiffen up but thats it and Sophie sat there and made sure he was ok. Im sooooo impressed y’all are amazing, I would’ve been on the ground.😂💕💕
I think both Sophie and Finn did really well not only riding but at the spooky parts as well!. They will be just as amazing when she learns to trust him. I hope that happens sooner then later. Chino is such a good horse, but still love seeing gabby ride storm.
you guys need to stop talking so loud when riding, thats why they are spooking its not a very calm envorniment for them it stresses me out just to watch
So talking loudly is completely fine when riding, that how horses learn. Yeah it may spook them slightly but they will soon learn to keep going but be aware of what's going on. TALKING LOUDLY AROUND A HORSE DOES NOTHING!!! so maybe get off your video game and learn before you come at someone who has tuns of experience around large animals.
@@kaylynnicole6145 No this horse is a baby who is spooking at everything as it is. It's head is probably exploding with all the noise going on. I wouldn't want people shouting constantly while I'm riding either.

I feel like storm would be a good dressage horse. He frames beautifully and has the movement for lower level dressage and I think gabby would benefit majorly from it.
I’m actually early, I love your horses they are so amazing and I love watching you guys develop your journey with the horses, Laura do you ride anymore?
I learned to ride the way Brooklyn is! My hands are soft and my seat is suuuper sticky! It can be scary for family but it’s allll worth the fear and the learning curve.
ALRIGHT! RIDERS WITH OUT REINS! THATS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. NOW START COUNTING THOSE STRIDES AT A CANTER. SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU! Time off has really helped Storm, mentally and physically. Most riding, once a horse is trained is keeping them fit.
That is a really great way of teaching beginner riders or helping with or preventing bad riding habits. It’s extremely beneficial for the rider and really helps teach proper balance and position and creates an independent seat. It’s too bad that it is not required for all riders to start this way and too bad that all instructors don’t teach this way. The independent seat should be the most sought after thing a rider desires in there rider and what an instructor wants to start working toward right from the beginning. If you do the research, you will find that the seat is one of the most important aids for a rider to get right and to keep practicing or working on to master in all disciplines. If you were to break down the amount or percentage of the use of the rider’s seat, leg and rein aids (in that order) that a rider’s should be using when riding, it would be around 80% seat (including weight aids), 18% leg aids and 2% rein aids. The seat is that important and when a rider has great balance and is in control of their own body (balance and position) and has their own self carriage, then The rider can use the aids independently and several correct and clear aids together with the lightest of pressure and can clearly release aids and communicate very clearly to the horse without interfering with the horse’s natural movement and this also makes for a very comfortable and enjoyable ride and state of being for the rider and especially the horse and makes the horse mentally stronger and a more willing partner. There are instructors and bonds with lesson programs that require beginner or less experienced riders to take lunge line lessons and remain on the lunge line until they are able to maintain their balance in all the gaits as well as their position and have suppleness or looseness/softness through all of their major joints to absorb the motion of the horse as well as learning to access their core muscles and learn what muscles are needed to support their body upright to stay on The horse in motion. Even the new riders in the classical Lippizan School in Vienna, have their new riders stay on the lunch line (sometimes for years) until they are at a certain expected level to take the reins and ride on their own. That’s how important learning to use your seat and feel and move with the horse and you have independent aids and really good balance is. Just because you may be competing in front of a judge or judges and they are looking for a certain thing or like a certain thing or a type of look from a rider, It should not interfere with learning or teaching the use of the most important aid for the rider. The seat and your weight are used for so many things for example - To maintain rhythm, speed/tempo, length of stride, all downward transitions and the position of the horses body. Yes you can use your hands or your reins to do some of these things by pulling backwards, but it is more correct, Are effective, more efficient and 100% more kind or more pleasant to your horse to use a quiet seat and your weight aids then to bump, pole or hang on the mouth to do those things. Lunge line lessons are some of the most important lessons a rider can ever have on a horse and no matter what your level of riding is. I think it is very important to find an instructor who is extremely experienced in lunge line lessons and the type of exercises each individual writer will need to fix balance in position issues or to add an instructor who is very well experienced in these types of lessons for rider biomechanics. If the exercises and techniques are not done correctly, they can add even more incorrectness through a rider’s body and cause even more balance and position issues that will inevitably interfere with how they communicate with the horse and how the horse is naturally able to use their body and correctly able to use their body. Proper lunge line lessons can only add to how great a rider will become for any horse that they ride. Incorrect techniques taught are used with a rider in a lunge line lesson can also cause a great amount of confidence issues and anxiety for the rider and the horse which can lead to even more issues. Brooklyn really lucked out with instructor who teaches this way. Can’t wait to see her other lessons.
I find singing helps with confidence even if your not the best singer it helps you and the horse you should try it :) . I also say to my hors omg it's a scary rock or stick etc.
In England we learn how to ride with someone running next to us so we don’t have to use the reins or worrying about what the horse is going to do also so we can learn how to use our feet and body to turn the horse also pretty much when we learn how to canter we do no stirrups which helps us gain balance then you learn how to jump cross poles then vertices then oxers then bigger jumps then harder jumps and so on and so on it’s so cool to see a different way of riding and how you handle horses in different ways in different places 💗
Yes I wish that I learned to ride with my body before rains. I learned with rains first and now i try to use them ever so often. it is going to help a lot to learn to steer with your body and no rains. It will make sure you are using your muscles.
Hi day by day vlogs can u please keep my family in preys as my father is really unwell at the moment things aren't to good.by the way love all your videos
Gemma, I’m so sorry your father is not well. Thank You for reaching out to us to pray for him. Remember what God says in Jeremiah 33vs6 ““ ‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” Jeremiah 33:6 NIV PeaceAndLove Lori
Classical training has the rider on the lunge line learning to ride without reins until they have and independent leg and seat. Cycle of aides goes; leg - seat - hand - horses mouth. We often see the opposite and riders don't develop the balance to ride safely. So it's great how that trainer is teaching, it will be a body learning that the student can use in other sports and in life. PS; You listen to us positive perches, not all those negative bluegills. Those people need to go get a hug and relax.
Sophie the biggest bond u should have with ur horse is to trust him and he is ur partner and u and Finn should make a bond and all u need is to trust him and he needs to trust u
Poor storm you never ride him I would love if you could post a video with stormy boy and do chase me Charlie with him and against the new horse just would make me more interested in your acc if you post with storm
I know for sure how loud is went the ice break from the rooftop. I think that the horses did good in that spooky situation. Can you carry a stroller for jack or it’s not good for u back Since ur very tall? Only to have more control n it will let u help a little more the girls or in any situation. Have a nice day
I love the team of Storm and Gabby - they clearly belong together, and Sophie will get there with Finny boy. I think Storm is telling you that he wants Gabby to ride him and be his girl. I felt that way about my heart pony Sam who we lost in January this year. It's really hard for me, as I will never forget him, and I am getting two bracelets made with his name on. How do you cope with losing a horse? I also think that all 3 girls handled the spooks great, Gabby especially as she got Storm back under control and carried on, that just shows she trusts her boy completely and he trusts her. She sat so quietly and that reassured him. Stuff falling that they can't see is really scary.
@@DayByDayVlogs Thank you and yes it is hard, I miss him every day and still love him. He was my loan pony and would neigh at me every time he saw me. I sponsor a horse and a pony from a charity, but I do not want to get attached to another pony or go to the stables he was kept at ever again. I think I would find that too difficult. My sponsor horse is called Gulliver and he's a big Thoroughbred X something and a bay gelding, he is helping to heal my heart, even though he's not mine - he belongs to the charity and lives at one of their centres.
Took my horse to vets today found out he has bilateral lameness which hes on pen rest for 12 weeks to hopefully heal by itself which is a 45% chance if not he has to have surgery. Love horses 😂
Finn has taken a chill pill so Sophie needs to too , he definitely is trying to be a better pony for her and she needs to learn that a horse will never do anything to hurt themselves let alone their rider! He is such a good boy recently I hope she feeds off that ! X
I also learnt to do all my steering with my body. I had to ride tackless for 4 years before I started with tack. I'm so glad I did because now I have a great position and even my welshie struggles to buck me off 😂😂😂😂😂
At first I was like can't I just learn how to ride like most people did but now I am super greatful to my riding teacher for that. Sadly she passed away 5 years ago 😭
Whoa I guess today wasn't the best day to go reinless. SNOW SLIDING OFF THE ROOF! Every unsuspecting rider and horses nightmare to hear an AVALANCHE above them. Sophie not sure if Finn went out from under you, but Ive had that happen and it's quite a shocking and unreal feeling. 🤤.
It's going to be very interesting watching your trail riding vlogs when the snow goes there! We have to know how to ride with one hand in England as many of us ride on the road and you need to use signals so the traffic know where you are going.
that's interesting as I ride in England and I've never ridden with out reigns. Although that will be good for her to have no reigns because a lot of children rely on their reigns for balance(I do) Love u ❤️💕😍😃👍🤗👍
Imagine someone pulling on your mouth all the time. That's how any pony you ride feels when you use reins for balancing! Get a neck strap and use that. Not the reins, as that is cruel to your pony and can make them hard mouthed too.
my barn is like that with the snow coming off the roof except the arena roof is raised higher than the other one so we also get icicles falling very loudly on to our alluminum roof😂
Hi, so I’m starting an equestrian channel and would like some advice and some video ideas? I have made and edited a video of my first horse show, and tomorrow I have a lesson and my moms going to record me jumping some so I was thinking that would be a good first few videos please let me know what you think or if you have ideas! Thanks💕
Hey, sorry I’m uploading the vid today, I just asked what the password was and he did not reply yet, but I think I’m uploading them tonight I’m so sorry 😕
I got a new horse Friday because my texie girl past away and I already trust my horse and he is from Boston his name is Andy he is a Morgan and I live in Texas. If you are more then 20% of there body wight you are to big to ride him
Definitely not so easy when you have a baby to look after too 😂 The snow falling would have made me jump too, not surprising the horses were a little alarmed and a good thing it was Gabby on Storm and not Sophia as he did some quick moves ( for him lol). It is situations like that which do test your confidence and it’s understandable that Sophia was nervous and got off, although I reckon if you’d been able to help her Laura I think she might have coped 👍 Still, such an improvement and Finn was very good, all things considered 😊
Ok I would of been off with the horses spooking as well ... that’s so loud and unpredictable lol my boy Ronnie has a nickname “Mr Spookalot” he spooks nearly every ride and I just put a vlog up Laura “riding after knee surgery “ and our mini took off which made Ronnie try to take off out on a road ride ugh I was so shaky...well done to all of them because they were not nice spooks xxx
Finn was impressive. He was sketched out but didn’t take off, like a horse should react. Whereas Storm was OUTTA there haha.
Yes! In the past he would have been gone. Such a difference now

Hi you should do a bloopers video
Y r u sooooo sweet and nice!!!!!!!!!!! And loud owners make horses not as spooky I learned that bc I am a loud rider lol!!! Luv u guyssss
Yes! That's exactly what she said! I'm excited to see how it plays out! She is a dancer already so hopefully the muscle she has helps.with her riding.
Dancing also helps with balance. Before my sister and I started riding, we did dance and gymnastics and our balance was naturally better.
Can we see some different colors on Sophie and Finn 😊😁😍🙃
Aw, great video!
Sophie the biggest bond u should have with ur horse is to trust him and he is ur partner and u and Finn should make a bond and all u need is to trust him and he needs to trust u
We love u Stella xxxx
Poor storm you never ride him I would love if you could post a video with stormy boy and do chase me Charlie with him and against the new horse just would make me more interested in your acc if you post with storm
I know for sure how loud is went the ice break from the rooftop. I think that the horses did good in that spooky situation. Can you carry a stroller for jack or it’s not good for u back Since ur very tall? Only to have more control n it will let u help a little more the girls or in any situation. Have a nice day
I will have to get one
Its so hard to have a loss like that! We had stella just 1.5 years. I cant Imagine the loss of a horse you have had a long time!
Omg gabby you should teach storm liberty and tricks
omg there was so much ice falling off the roof when i was riding yesterday in my lesson😂
the horses were spooking so much!!
Took my horse to vets today found out he has bilateral lameness which hes on pen rest for 12 weeks to hopefully heal by itself which is a 45% chance if not he has to have surgery. Love horses 😂
Oh gosh! Prayers!
Finn has taken a chill pill so Sophie needs to too , he definitely is trying to be a better pony for her and she needs to learn that a horse will never do anything to hurt themselves let alone their rider! He is such a good boy recently I hope she feeds off that ! X
Fleur Campbell that’s not true. Horses do do things that cause injury to themselves, even if it is unintentional.
Awww! I Loved this video it was awesome. GGG! Amen!

😊👍
Good job to gabby to desable storms shoulder when he spooked
I like it and God bless
Jack is so cute luv u guys
I also learnt to do all my steering with my body. I had to ride tackless for 4 years before I started with tack. I'm so glad I did because now I have a great position and even my welshie struggles to buck me off 😂😂😂😂😂
Friesian Princess wow lucky! I wish that’s how I started riding
Lol such a weird feeling!
$7000 saddle mine was £250 haha I could never afford that 😂🤑
It's going to be very interesting watching your trail riding vlogs when the snow goes there!
Kayle and gabby should do chase me Charlie
my barn is like that with the snow coming off the roof except the arena roof is raised higher than the other one so we also get icicles falling very loudly on to our alluminum roof😂
Laura and Chino me likee
I love your intro but could you do one with Sky and Chino ❤️ u
And Gracie
Dolores Wilson they are doing it in the spring/summer when it’s warmer
First like again, so excited for the giveaway
Love you guys ❤️
❤️❤️
I named one of my schleich after Stella x
Hi, so I’m starting an equestrian channel and would like some advice and some video ideas? I have made and edited a video of my first horse show, and tomorrow I have a lesson and my moms going to record me jumping some so I was thinking that would be a good first few videos please let me know what you think or if you have ideas! Thanks💕
I just subscribed!! Cant wait for them!!!
Rachel Hill. Thanks I hope to upload them soon💕
@@skipsbuddydoc9839 are you going to upload the videos soon?
Omg I’m soo sorry☹️ I’ve been busy and traveling and I forgot to ask my dad why I can’t upload videos to my channel anymore😕
It was so loud. Like an avalanche. I'm impressed how well it actually went all things considered! So glad to be done the baby years lol
Hope y'all are ok
$7,000 saddle? What a dream
Wow, that's scary!
