I think this is the perfect solution to lighting up my workbench area more. Got to watch more videos of the leds in action during gaming/watching movies. Never knew that was a thing.
Another diffuser idea is if you have a junk tv laying around you can take it apart and there are several sheets of light diffusing thin plastic inside. It works great.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you liked the video! Yeah they for sure are not cheap! Especially if all you need is a small section! And since I believe they mostly only sell their products in the US, its a bummer for other regions not to have them as an option. But good thing there is usually ways to go about making things yourself!
Another EXCELLENT video Chris!! I bought similar channels at home depot about 2 years ago, they work great you just need to clean them well, I placed them facing up on my wall since I didn't want the led's to show {no diffuser} and it worked great. Now that you tried the paper as a diffuser I'm thinking about other areas in my place. Thank you Chris!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you liked the video! Yeah, so far the paper has worked great! It would be fun to know what the price was for the channels 2 years ago! I think at home depot they were like 13 dollars for the 8 foot section. Not horrible but still would add up if your getting a lot of them!
My man! I am beyond IMPRESSED! I was looking how to step up my LED light skills and WOW! I'm so happy I came across your channel. I rarely leave comments but I had to give credit where credit is due. Two hours flew by watching your videos and now I'm excited to order all these parts and lights. Learned more in two hours than I have in 5-7 years. It’s been 8 months. So I wonder how did the „paper Diffusor“ hold up to this day? Any discoloration or wrinkles? Or did you even remove it completely and changed it to something else? Thanks to your content I could get a lot of ideas to do myself and I’m happy so far how things have turned out :)
The Muzata diffusers are great, but they're only 1m, so this is really useful when you don't want seams. Even if you had a seam in the aluminum channel, there's no seam in the diffuser, where it's most noticeable. Bravo!
Really like the paper idea!! I’m planning on several 25-30’ continuous runs and want it to be seamless. Now I can achieve the effect without seeing seams. Love your channel, thanks for the great content!! Keep up the good work
@@jeremiahbullfrog9288 thanks for suggestion. Those aren’t available in UK. What’s the need for non thermal please and what’s the ideal width in comparison to channel? Is it an extra 10mm for the bend either side of channel?
I subscribed a few months ago and your videos keep keep me coming back. Love your mention of RGBW, they've been out for a while now, but few folks know about them or use them. Also very ingenious to use addressable LEDs to build your custom lighting schemas, additionally, you're using an ESP32 to accomplish this affordably also giving you the option to wirelessly make changes to your light configs or sync the lights up to the smart home. Cool project and thank you for the video.
Thanks so much for the support buddy and glad you are enjoying the videos! yeah, I am really starting to love the sk6812 strips with the extra White led. Little more expensive but much better white and not as hungry on the power! Thanks again!
Thanks for starting this new year with a good video Chris. I never imagined that paper could help make a decent diffuser, but I think that over time and depending on the humidity it could become damaged and would have to be replaced with some frequency. But it's something interesting to try, to start a project inspired by your work that you share in your channel. Thanks again for the effort you make to share your ideas.
You are very welcome and thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video! Yeah paper is for sure not the best material or the strongest. I know a lot of paper you can buy now says like non yellowing so at least there is that but yeah, if you have this in a place where kids or pets could bump into it, I'd probably go with just a normal diffuser. So far they have been holding up perfectly but then again, its only been a couple weeks lol.
Thanks so much for watching! Great question. I just leave it bear and generally just hide it behind something. I know some people use 3d printing to make something and others have recommended like a travel soap dish. If you dont have something to hide things behind and you dont want to go to the trouble of putting things behind walls, I did make this quick little video on one option: th-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/w-d-xo.html
I noticed that all the lights are in sync. Are you running everything from a single controller or are you synching them all somehow? Either way, any change you can show us how to do it?
This is neat! I've been wanting to put lights in my office area for awhile now but hadn't settled on exactly how I wanted to do it, especially because I wanted the strips to double as a goal light when I watch hockey games. This is super useful and I'll definitely be watching a few more of your videos you linked!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! So I have a total of 4 esp devices. 1 is running the lamps (wired up in parallel) 1 is running the top diffuser, another the bottom diffuser and the 4th is the medial console. I just made a video that goes over a little bit more of the setup and settings used if interested! th-cam.com/video/D_URUFJvLOo/w-d-xo.html
You’ve really inspired me to try and make a business out of this. I think a lot of people would pay to have permanent diffuser eve and house lighting for holidays and their security systems.
Another amazing project, quick question, how is watching TV with a diffuser "out in the open" , to the naked eye... usually I put LEDs out of view and I'm trying to imagine having a constant view of them.... hard to tell from videos? I usually just use warm whites to prevent eyestrain and nice effect do I'm not into coloring the room neon blues etc.... keep up the great work
Thanks so much buddy! Great question. I do mostly listen to music down here but when I do watch movies I will generally just turn them down very low and its not distracting at all. But I know for some it probably would still be something they wouldn't like so you could just turn them off. But mostly what I do is just turn on some music, put the lights on to something I like and relax.
@@ChrisMaherDIY awesome, can imagine it causes an amazing atmosphere for chilling to music, maybe for my needs and watching TV its something not suitable...thanks for the answer , peace out🫡
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I mostly use the Hult color pallet. I'm actually working on a video right now going over some of the effects and colors I use so hopefully I'll have that ready to go within the week!
I've been using BTF Lighting LED's for a while and I would highly recommend them Even the double sided tape they use works well and stays stuck. Very good and well balanced LED's.
Thanks so much for watching and 100% agree! Nothing but good things to say! Glad you have had the same experience. Thanks again for taking the time to comment!
what's the best way to run these led strips off a power bank/brick? or a small 12v battery? I'm going to be making similar lights with an on/off switch for an indoor storage unit where there's no power. Awesome video. It gave me a lot of ideas.
Awesome video. Was the strip that you were using in the video the same width as the Govee m1. Would the 3/4 channel be to wide for one Govee m1 not allowing it to shine bright?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! The strip i'm using in the video is 10mm wide. The Govee M1 is 12mm wide. The 3/4 inch channel I used in this video would for sure be wide enough for 1 and look great but probably would not be able to fit 2 side by side.
Thanks so much for watching! The two floor lamps on either side of the room are connected to the same power supply and same controller. I split the data coming off the controller (they call this running in parallel) so that both lights will be doing the same thing at the same time.
have you ever done anything with thick perspex like the Muzata skirting board strip? where its edge lit from below but creates the neon look nicely - if so what perspex did /would you use? something clear but with a frosted surface? thanks!
Thanks again for the great question! It really just depends on the look your going for. Connecting them in parallel means that they will all do the exact same thing. If your going for the audio amplifier effect, I think you should probably connect them in series. Connecting the lights in series is what I did in this video: th-cam.com/video/K4EzLI1fFnQ/w-d-xo.html
Bro excellent video, but you should always do a side by side for your DIY and the off the shelf version like Muzata at the end of your videos. Maybe start doing a series for This vs That for DIY vs off the shelf product videos? Thanks 👍
thanks for taking the time to make this, I might do this myself cause I'm sure its much cheaper and I wont be wasting time returning bad diffusers to amazon. i will say its a bit hard to see how your diffuser work since you didn't use a solid color and had animations, itd be nice to just see solid colors thru the whole strip. I also have a question, with the ESP32, can you have it sync up with other wifi bulbs? i use sylvania wifi bulbs that are also on google home, it would be really cool to sync the led strips with it
Do you think it might work if I used a roll of bond paper typically used in old adding machines (printing calculators)? There's a roll at Staples: Bond Paper Roll, 2 1/4" x 125', which is the exact same width you cut your paper to, and the whole 125 foot roll is just $1.29. My only concern is whether or not it will behave the same way as the paper in your video and manage to be stiff enough to stay in place in the channel without curling inward or something. I might have to go feel it in person soon, and maybe get a test roll
Thanks for watching buddy and great question! I'm just manually doing it. I believe there is a program called Hyperion that can do it automatically that I really want to look into at some point although I'm not sure if the software works for UST projectors. Something I'll have to look into and hopefully be able to do one of these days!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Just because you mentioned it, and because Hyperion is what I use: Hyperion uses HDMI input, so it can work with anything that runs HDMI, including any projector. 🙂
Best budget execution I've seen. Keep up the projects and watch your channel grow. One video suggestion... It would be great to have a more polished wiring execution. Think about potential of selling these LED products. No way it gets old with lever connectors and multiple wires all over the place. Would be great to have a project that moves from DIY to polished sellable goods. Great work dude. Keep it up. Subscribed after seeing one video.
Thanks so much for watching and glad you liked the project buddy! I agree that pretty much everything I have made could for sure be more polished/complete. At some point If I every do try to sell some stuff I'll for sure have to come up with something that looks much better then just shoving everything behind something and out of sight lol. I do at some point want to get into 3d printing and I feel like this would probably be the reason why I would start! Thanks again for watching and for the great suggestion!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I finally got around to making a short video on this! But its 4 esp devices that all sync together: th-cam.com/video/D_URUFJvLOo/w-d-xo.html
Would love to do this for my kitchen under cabinet lighting project coming up. I just want to use a different diffuser material other than paper as it will be in the kitchen and is prone to water, humidity, heat oil stains and such. Any thoughts on a different diffuser material ?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Yeah I for sure would not use paper in the kitchen! I would probably just bite the bullet and get a regular diffuser channel. Might also be tough to get material to stay put when its hanging upside down. I'll let you know If I come up with any ideas but nothing is coming to mind right now!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Yeahh, well the muzata ones that you recommended in another video are super expensive. Like as expensive as the led strips. That's why I can't justify the purchase. Dont think I have any other option though.
Hello Chris... thanks for all the interesting inspiration for LED Strips, however, is there any type of project box that would contain the WSP32 and some of the wiring? thanks for any feedback.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! So I think there is something called athom controller that has WLED pre installed. I dont think they are on amazon yet but here it is form AliExpress: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DlWk90T Otherwise, you could always look into 3d printing at least the box part. I at some point want to get into 3d printing but just have not found the time yet!
Paper is still a slight safety risk as an overall recommendation to the public. It will also stain in most homes and can collect moisture in high humidity regions. If someone gets the paper wet for any reason (wet dog shaking off, kid spills, leaks, etc) with lower IP rated strips we have an issue. This is especially true if viewers aren’t properly utilizing inline fuses. I always fuse my lines and order strips in the IP60’s Improper power regulation and WLED settings can also cause the alum channel/heat sink to heat up. Usually things can’t get beyond 185°c and although paper combustion requires temperatures that are much hotter, Im not certain it’s a great material for recommendation to a mass audience as people tend to pull of the unimaginable with incompetence. Always make sure your videos recommend viewers understand proper Power Supply ratings, using proper fuses, proper soldering/ heat shrink, appropriate IP ratings for intended use/location, and proper heat sink/ cooling.
Thanks again and great advice! I know I have never had any issues and i've used paper in a few other projects (not to say something couldn't happen) but I also only use the lights when I'm in the room. Do you have any video you recommend in terms of adding fuses to led strips?!
Thanks so much for watching and for the great idea! That is for sure on my to do list! I know there is a program called Hyperion that does this but as of now I think its over my head. But hopefully sooner rather than later I can try to learn the steps and make a video on it! I'm also not sure if it would work on a UST Projector like I'm using now or not so if anyone is reading this and knows for sure, please let me know! Thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video! I think they would for sure be worth trying! All paper for the most part I think would work. Some would probably look better than others depending on thickness and how much the paper fibers are visible.
I still prefer the regular diffuser channels but i've used paper in a few other projects in the past and its always worked fine. Most paper these days say its anti yellowing.
Is there a link showing how to integrate the colors with the screen as-in "dreamview mode"? I currently have Govee M1 and floorlamp but our tv is slightly too small to run the T-series backlighting with camera... I'm trying to do a work-around. Larger tv is not an option due to built-in cabinet dimensions.
Thanks so much for watching! In the video I'm just changing everything manually. I know there is a program called hyperion that can do it automatically that I'm hoping to check out in the near future! So I would maybe see if there are any good videos out there that go over getting Hyperion set up since it sounds like that might be what you need!
really interesting low cost idea. I just put on my aluminum framing and stick some LED stripe in it, ended up not super stoked about the "spots", especially when my strip density is rather low. remembered I seen this video of yours so trying it out with photocopy paper first - the diffusing effect works, just the fibre of the paper is visible. I might have to try different types of paper, or see if there's cheap white plastic sheet instead.
Really good effects. Please can you advise how you link each lamp? I guess you are using ESP32 for each, so how do you control the together like that?? Thank you.
Thanks buddy! I was thinking about that! It wouldn't be perfect but I would probably just use a piece of poster board paper and cut it to size. Its a little bit thicker and more rigid so I think it would work pretty well. Could also probably 3d print something but I still have not gone down the 3d printing path yet!
Hy man very nice video! All the line is going on the same time, what is the scheme? Do you connect all the line led to one ESP? Dou you have a scheme with all the connection to the wall? Thx and good luck!
Thanks so much for watching and good question! So the 2 floor lamps are doing the same thing at the same time since they are connected to the same controller with the data split (called running in parallel) However the 2 horizontal diffusers are connected to their own esp device. For everything I am just using the sync feature which is supposed to change all the effects/settings to the main one you are controlling. Now in my experience, when syncing this way, some animation/effects do seem to sync and do the same thing at the same time and then others, do not. I'm not sure why some do and some do not but If I truly did want them to do the exact same thing at the exact same time I would just connect them to one controller and split the data just like I did for the floor lamps. Hope that makes sense and I am horrible at putting together schemes so I don't have any of this written down!
Is there any way to do this same thing only making it weather proof to have on the exterior of a building? Or does anyone sell something like that? I have been looking and can't find any.
Thanks so much for watching! I'm just doing everything manually. There is a program called hyperion out there that can apparently do this automatically that I hope to look into in the near future and for sure do a video on it!
Hi Chris, I watched pretty much all of your videos and decided to DIY my first LED lights. But after setting up the ESP32 board and connecting the wires, my led lights are not working. Do you know what can I be doing wrong?? :(
Thanks so much for watching and bummer its not working! Did the WLED seem to get installed and set up correctly? What led lights are you using and what power supply do you have? One thing that I always tried to have when troubleshooting is an extra esp device and some extra leds I could test just to test in case what I was using was bad. Also you can always try watching a different video to see if they do something or explain things a little differently that might help! th-cam.com/video/j15pjU3YZfg/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you figure things out!
Happy prosperous New Years brother!! I dig your updates CM login! 😉 You may have forgotten the most important reason for using command strips, or 3M!! Yes, definitely a plus when no clips, screws, drills or permanent holes in trim ... But the wife approval factor has to be about as high as it gets, right? ".... And don't worry hun, if after I spend this entire weekend installing these I. A. LEDs you just hate 'em? 12 hours to sizes, cut to length, solder, program, incorporate into H. A. And 90 seconds to make it look like NOTHING was ever there!" On a semi-related note, do you like WS 0.14? How many years has a 2-day matrices been on the wish list and roadmap? I'm SO happy, for all my needs anyways, WLED is a legit one-stop software shop!! I've had a couple OG Adafruit 2.5 pitch 64x64.... It is clear some of the programs for the 2D matrices were designed for a 64x64! As a video or 3 ideas worth, do you see yourself doing any 2D matrices with WLED anywhere in your house? CHEERS my friend, and heres to a LED lit, ESP32 - P4 400Mghz dual core powered 2023! P.S. - That's right! On board dual-core 400 MHz AND a single-core LP 40 MHz RISC-V processors, and an impressive array of hardware peripherals including display and camera interfaces and a hardware JPEG codec alongside the ones you’d expect from an ESP32 part. It’s got a whopping 768 KB of on-chip SRAM as well as 8 K of very fast cache RAM for intensive operations. But the part that I'm most interested in for this $24USD (estimated) isn't the 50 GPIO pins, or it's new USB OTG 2.0 Integration - it's the addition of on board hardware Pixel Processing Architecture (PPAi I believe is the official acronym) chip! Can you say dynamic progressive effects?!? Hehehe!!! This level of performance and feature set was once reserved for $100+ SoCs just TWO years ago.... Thoughts??
Lol all my hard work can be gone in 90 seconds. I got a good laugh on that! I'm so far loving .14! I've played around a little bit with the matrix support and its amazing! Probably the biggest update they have ever done! I for sure want to do some projects with matrix panels but I'm not quite sure yet what I want to do. Wow, that new ESP32 - P4 sounds like a game changer! Is it available yet to buy?! So many ways you can utilize it! thanks for the heads up! Crazy how these things have come down in price! Appreciate everything my friend! Happy New Year!
Thanks for watching! I just got it off amazon. You can try it with any paper. Paper will all look a little different depending on how visible the fibers are and how thick it is!

Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you like the setup! Its a UST Projector!
The Muzata diffusers are great, but they're only 1m, so this is really useful when you don't want seams. Even if you had a seam in the aluminum channel, there's no seam in the diffuser, where it's most noticeable. Bravo!
Happy New Year Chris, wishing you a wonderful 2023.
Thanks so much buddy! Happy New Years to you as well!
Really like the paper idea!! I’m planning on several 25-30’ continuous runs and want it to be seamless. Now I can achieve the effect without seeing seams. Love your channel, thanks for the great content!! Keep up the good work
Another idea for the paper diffuser, instead of cutting a roll of paper use a roll of paper that is for calculators or even register tape.
Someone tested it? I think it didnt get over 70°C to get dark
Thanks so much for watching and that is a great idea! For sure easier if its the right size and didn't' need to cut it!
@Jeremiah Bullfrog can yiu elaborate a little more what is it that yiu can use instead of paper ?
@@jeremiahbullfrog9288 thanks for suggestion. Those aren’t available in UK. What’s the need for non thermal please and what’s the ideal width in comparison to channel? Is it an extra 10mm for the bend either side of channel?
Another great option could be paper drywall tape. It’s thicker so may diffuse too much, but a 75’ roll is $2-3.
As always, another great tutorial on unique/alternative ways to diffuse LEDs. Well done Chris!
Thanks buddy! Always appreciate the support! Thanks so much for watching!
Really nice, especially because it is so simple.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
Looks good man. Simple and quick.
Thanks as always buddy!
Wow you are a super creative mannnnn
Thank as always for watching buddy! I appreciate the support! Hope your doing well!
Nicely done! I have a nine foot run that I want to install by the basement stairs so your video has given me some excellent ideas, cheers!
Budget friendly content…2 thumbs up!! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much for watching buddy! Glad you liked the video!
It’s looking good as always 😌

Looks so good! Great video!
Thanks buddy! Glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
dude you are a GENIUSSSSS

The end showing the final doesn't even look real. Top notch dude, seriously.
Thanks so much buddy! Glad you liked the video! Appreciate the love!
Happy New Year and nice build. Paper is a perfect combo with LED's !
Thanks so much for watching as always buddy! Thanks! Its not perfect but it still looks very nice!!
awesome bro I am definitely gonna try this trick ASAP
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support and hope it turns out well!
Crazy how the paper looks so good lol
Thanks so much for watching! I still think the regular diffuser channels I've used look better but the paper for sure does not look bad!
nice,
What do you do with the esp32 board?
Do you leave it bear or do you put it in a enclosure for protection................. ?
Thanks so much for watching! Great question. I just leave it bear and generally just hide it behind something. I know some people use 3d printing to make something and others have recommended like a travel soap dish. If you dont have something to hide things behind and you dont want to go to the trouble of putting things behind walls, I did make this quick little video on one option: th-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/w-d-xo.html
Man this looks awesome!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
Great video yet again. So much inspiration for me to build my own decor.
Thanks so much buddy! Appreciate the support! Glad you liked the video!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you enjoyed the video and love the idea for your office area! Super cool!
Broo, that's a diff lvl. New subscriber.
Wow... Very nice!! 👍
Thank as always for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support buddy!
Thanks Chris!
You are very welcome! Thanks as always for watching!
Awesome build and setup !!
Do you need individual ESP. 32s for each led strip/ led device?
Paper! That's genius 😂 Nice
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
Wow this is really impressive
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support buddy!
Nicely done bro!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
how do you handle corners with the paper diffuser? I'm thinking about going the DIY route for near the ceiling.
Is that multiple esp32 boards running the floor lamps and media bench or do you run all 3 channels from one?
@@ChrisMaherDIY awesome, can imagine it causes an amazing atmosphere for chilling to music, maybe for my needs and watching TV its something not suitable...thanks for the answer , peace out🫡
For diffuser I just used broken tv screen diffuser. Works very well
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I'll have to look into that and see If I can find any!
Did you use the same power supply for both strips ?
Thanks for the great video! 0:35 why are you using 18 AWG instead of 22 AWG?
Just Awesome 👍
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video!
Very nice! Soon you are going to need to move into a 7,000 sq ft house to have room for all your great DIY LED projects!
Lol no kidding! I already had to take down all my other projects to make room for these new ones! Thanks as always buddy!
Could you share what color pallette you use for your cyberpunk/synthwave presets? I can never quite get the colors right and yours look amazing.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I mostly use the Hult color pallet. I'm actually working on a video right now going over some of the effects and colors I use so hopefully I'll have that ready to go within the week!
absolutely amazing!
Are the 2 light stands on the sides also connected to the same chip and power supply or is it separated
Thanks so much for watching! The two floor lamps on either side of the room are connected to the same power supply and same controller. I split the data coming off the controller (they call this running in parallel) so that both lights will be doing the same thing at the same time.
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks for replying!
have you ever done anything with thick perspex like the Muzata skirting board strip? where its edge lit from below but creates the neon look nicely - if so what perspex did /would you use? something clear but with a frosted surface? thanks!
Hey I have made 3 customlike govee glide bar should i connect them in series or parallel for audio amlifier effect or
Thanks again for the great question!
Отличная идея! Спасибо!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
Bro excellent video, but you should always do a side by side for your DIY and the off the shelf version like Muzata at the end of your videos. Maybe start doing a series for This vs That for DIY vs off the shelf product videos? Thanks 👍
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! That is a great idea! I'll have to put that on my list of videos to make! Thanks buddy!
thanks for taking the time to make this, I might do this myself cause I'm sure its much cheaper and I wont be wasting time returning bad diffusers to amazon. i will say its a bit hard to see how your diffuser work since you didn't use a solid color and had animations, itd be nice to just see solid colors thru the whole strip. I also have a question, with the ESP32, can you have it sync up with other wifi bulbs? i use sylvania wifi bulbs that are also on google home, it would be really cool to sync the led strips with it
Do you have an idea which material instead of paper can be used outdoor?
Do you think it might work if I used a roll of bond paper typically used in old adding machines (printing calculators)?
There's a roll at Staples: Bond Paper Roll, 2 1/4" x 125', which is the exact same width you cut your paper to, and the whole 125 foot roll is just $1.29. My only concern is whether or not it will behave the same way as the paper in your video and manage to be stiff enough to stay in place in the channel without curling inward or something. I might have to go feel it in person soon, and maybe get a test roll
By any chance the LED strips are synchronizing with the TV?
Or, did you manually set some effects similar to the TV?
Keep it up. Subscribed after seeing one video.
best suggestion
THIS!!
Thanks again for watching and for the great suggestion!
now heres a question, do all your rgb in that room connect together in 1 esp module or are they somehow synced together
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I finally got around to making a short video on this! But its 4 esp devices that all sync together: th-cam.com/video/D_URUFJvLOo/w-d-xo.html
thanks i'll try it out
Would love to do this for my kitchen under cabinet lighting project coming up.
Yoooo that looks so cool 😮
Paper is still a slight safety risk as an overall recommendation to the public.
It will also stain in most homes and can collect moisture in high humidity regions.
If someone gets the paper wet for any reason (wet dog shaking off, kid spills, leaks, etc) with lower IP rated strips we have an issue. This is especially true if viewers aren’t properly utilizing inline fuses. I always fuse my lines and order strips in the IP60’s
Improper power regulation and WLED settings can also cause the alum channel/heat sink to heat up.
How about diy ambient Wled strip around the projector screen. That way it lights up what ever is on the edge of the screen.
Thanks!
Great video!!! BTW so dyou think the old fashion paper rolls used in calculators or ink POS printers would work?
Thanks so much! Glad you liked the video! I think they would for sure be worth trying! All paper for the most part I think would work. Some would probably look better than others depending on thickness and how much the paper fibers are visible.
Question!
do you still recommend the paper used for the project? I hope to not see yellow tint as others have commented o:
I just put on my aluminum framing and stick some LED stripe in it,
ended up not super stoked about the "spots", especially when my strip density is rather low.
remembered I seen this video of yours so trying it out with photocopy paper first - the diffusing effect works, just the fibre of the paper is visible. I might have to try different types of paper, or see if there's cheap white plastic sheet instead.
Thank you so much
That's very helpful
Really good effects. Please can you advise how you link each lamp? I guess you are using ESP32 for each, so how do you control the together like that?? Thank you.
This is awesome! Any ideas for how to cap the non-wire end so light doesn't shine out?
Thanks buddy! I was thinking about that! It wouldn't be perfect but I would probably just use a piece of poster board paper and cut it to size. Its a little bit thicker and more rigid so I think it would work pretty well. Could also probably 3d print something but I still have not gone down the 3d printing path yet!
My respects!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate the support!
Very nice.👍🏽
Thanks so much buddy!
Yeah, wow!😊
Paper
.. damn son 👏 👏
Hi Chris!
How do you sync strips with the content of the screen?
Thanks so much for watching! I'm just doing everything manually. There is a program called hyperion out there that can apparently do this automatically that I hope to look into in the near future and for sure do a video on it!
do you think you can do a video on making a diy 45° diffuser? I'd really like to see how those turn out because I'm thinking of making my own.
Awesome 👌

Can you also start using shrink wrap tubing for your wires or zip ties something to make them look more pro.
Happy prosperous New Years brother!!
I dig your updates CM login! 😉
You may have forgotten the most important reason for using command strips, or 3M!!
And 90 seconds to make it look like NOTHING was ever there!"
On a semi-related note, do you like WS 0.14?
Has anyone achieved this in tge overhead position? Just wondering if paper stayed in position? Great video BTW. Thanks @ChrisMaherDIY
Where did you get the paper and is there any other alternate for paper other then this ?
Thanks for watching! I just got it off amazon. You can try it with any paper. Paper will all look a little different depending on how visible the fibers are and how thick it is!
u should try to try to use a roll off backing papir, it works super good and it is cheep
Thanks so much for watching and for the great suggestion! That is a great idea! I'll have to try it!
Do you know how to make these strips or others with midi dmx control?
did you do GOVEE outdoor permanent lights video ?
Thanks so much for watching and great question. That is one product I have yet to try out and test. Its for sure on my list of ones I would like to do though. Hopefully I can get around to it soon!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Cant wait to watch it. I am sure it'll awesome. Please include the lengths of the cable and how one can customize it according to the particular length to run.
Thanks, Chris; no need to buy diffusers anymore. Cheers.
You are very welcome! Lol I would still prefer the real ones but I have to admit, these do look nice!
Magical man
paper, wow that's awesome. The ones on amazon are like 130 bucks for only 10 feet or so!
