outside of his bedroom, Nevertheless

Crikey!
Read this comment with David Altenborough's voice lol
I can hear David Attenborough
I love how everyone went totally silent as soon as he started playing. So much respect for his style and skill
The diversity in the crowd makes me happy.❤
Absolutely not... Everyone is holding their phone, partly even looking away or just looking at their phone and looking grumpy, instead of actually just paying intention to this inspiring performance and enjoy the moment... This has become very sad, i have to disagree... Not much authentic attention for this style and skill.
@@marcrchz enjoying the moment can only take you so far. Say 20 years they wanna show their kids? Can't exactly share a memory this way unfortunately... Some of the best memories from my dad are our bootleg Metallica and ACDC tapes. Snuck stuff in and tested audio settings and tried not to bump anyone with the recorder or mic... If you wanna enjoy the moment and never relive it, that's fine. But don't bash others for wanting to have a physical version of their memories :)
@@stuffnthingsnstuff8935 Its why music is beautiful. It unites different cultures and backgrounds together to experience something wonderful.
You guys didn't get a chance to see but the crowd spanned the whole venue, not just the booth and a few others. Even this guy's mistakes were beautiful and though unpolished unlike his edited videos, his personality shines through in his playing - which is what I believe, drew the crowd. He's also humble and respectful! There are many guitarists this year!!
The world is full of introverts who are blessed with amazing talent that the we will never hear or see. Some get brave & say hi. because they can no longer keep it inside.

to be quite honest, he didn't really sound all that good here... kinda sloppy. Maybe he was nervous IDK, but definitely nowhere near as polished as his yt videos
The fact the whole audience and even the people around got quiet just to hear Ichika play.
So much respect which is absolutely deserved and warranted, Ichika always, always kills it.
people would just shush you if you were talking, kinda weird to point out haha. it's like "wow the whole audience was quiet during this movie, they respect the director so much". not exactly, they just wanted to enjoy the movie that they're there to watch.

Not everything about social media sucks after all. It's great to see all these talents coming out of their bedrooms for their music to reach real audiences.
sometimes it can do good things
ugh, your cynicism isn't a shortcut to wisdom
Well. Most people will still only buy top 40 trash.
Because their audiences weren't real before?
The Internet in general has been wonderful for artists. Just a shame it has given us massive political division, propaganda, corporate control, etc etc.
The kid sitting on the floor in the blue shirt with sorta dirty blond hair, yeah thats me. I was in complete awe having seen him play, he is like the modern Randy Rhoads of japan
Congrats to you.. I hope the "vibe" rubs off and you have a brilliant career with guitar.
Is that you playing at last minute clip.?
Where was this btw? In LA rn and was wondering if I missed my opportunity lol
I feel like he is more similar to Eddie Van Halen, his extensive use of harmonics and tapping is very reminiscent of Van Halen.
What kind of conference is this?
How can you not love this guy. He's got a beautiful sound and a very individual technique.
This is one of the most original and unique talents I've ever heard.

I don't see what's so great about this. He's just nooding around with lots of FX. I mean it sounds good but the level of praise here is ridiculously hyperbolic.
The people there who witnessed this in person were the lucky ones! Watching this video does no justice. I can only imagine what this sounde like live. Must have been amazing!! When someone says nothing at all with their voice and says everything with their instrument is a priceless moment in life. Exquisite playing and what a beautiful sound

Like my man buckethead 😎🎸🤘🏻
Sounded pretty bad to me, just really uninteresting playing.
ichika is inspiring an entire generation with his great music, music is in good hands.
Fr he is the reason I picked up guitar.
He has unique and original style .Never heard anyone play like him .Seriously ,where did he come up with his craft like he hacked the guitar or something.
Imagine if you were just walking by and got a free concert that was this beautiful.
Yeah, so many of these were just on the way to get some milk and bread from a 7-11 and had to walk through Namm passing the Ibanez stand to get there.
Your tonal choices are wonderful. I haven't the faintest idea why, but something about your playing is incredibly soothing.
There's both jazz and classical influences in there.
It is soothing here. Some of the short vids he releases are extremely busy and mesh together and sound abrasive and irritating, obvious talent but the style is not for me, but when he plays a bit slower and toned down like here it’s beautiful and I could listen all day.
@@joshchapman4753seems like a lot of his short videos are meant to be more gimmicky, or flexes, the titles are pretty unserious and a lot of times have to do w playing as fast and as complicated as he possibly can. his actual songs i think are usually pretty soothing and nice.
I'm just thinking about how if it sounds this good on just an amp with 1 pedal, imagine how good it'd sound if he had his whole setup with him
oh so no amp and virtual compression
Haha if this was just mic’d properly, and compressed afterward, it would sound almost the same as his videos, apart from the spring reverb here.
A good musician can make anything sound good. Don’t need gimmicks or a wall of equipment. A bad sounding good performance is always better than a good sounding bad performance.
his whole setup is just di and some compression. so very minimalist setup that he does very well with
And just change the playback speed to something faster.
He is trying to make the guitar sound like a Japanese instrument. I can hear it in the way he plays. It's very brilliant. Quite something refreshing.
Fascinating insight

(edit) Ichika is a legend to me because he is someone I idolize. Ever since I got my guitar I've wanted to play like him, he is better than most famous guitarist and his skill isn't something to make fun of. I like his virtuosic combination of fingerstyle and tapping and his math funk/rnb genre in his music. Random people from the internet who know's nothing about him, yet talks like they know everything will never change my opinion.

i was there! watched him demo some random guitar at a booth with only 2 or 3 people watching, and his playing was absolutely seamless. anyone who thinks he can only do this stuff after multiple takes in his own room is absolutely wrong.
I love his playing and style. That said, I *do* think some of his repertoire is only possible after multiple takes alone. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Most guitarists aren't capable of what he can do period.
What event is this?
@@Iskaral_Pust nothing is impossible for ichika
@@Iskaral_Pust That's totally true - my comment was mostly directed at people who discount his entire style as being impossible to perform, because he definitely impressed me in person.
@@Iskaral_Pust yeah of course; even Lucas Brar - a classical/jazz god - has multiple takes and even some cuts when he makes his videos. Because to capture the whole arrangement at the level of perfection he seeks would simply be too time consuming and inefficient.
his music flows so perfectly that it's hard to grasp how impressive and technical his writing is, he plays it like it's nothing
absolutely amazing performance. the best part for me was when he started agressively throwing peacesigns. the guitarplayer wasnt bad either
I give him kudos for this, this was a great treat for us! His mistakes were even heard as there was not any editing before posting and he's very kind in person! One of my favorite guitarists along with Yvette Young
Glad ichika's slowly getting recognized, he's such an inspiration! And he plays sooooooo so good! What a legend

I’m living for that cutoff at 3:00. There’s a perfect blend of raw emotion and class in everything you play. I’m not a guitarist (flute player here 😅) but I aspire to be able to channel emotion and personality into my playing as well as you can. Stunning as always!
First hearing of Ichika and this sounds like "Yes", but his technique has wonderful sensitivity too, beautiful soundscapes...let's start a band!
Cross between Yes and a couple songs off of King Crimson's first album!
This guy makes a guitar sound otherworldly.
Ichika is so good at creating soundscapes for your ears to be pampered with.... quite lovely
There is something so raw about how he plays, I’m not a guitarist just a self taught pianist and vocalist. I do listen to a lot of guitarists music for fun and he is unmatched so far. I just know if I heard him live I’d get goosebumps.
Never heard of him before, but this was so refreshingly amazing to see. I love his guitar style. It really reminds me of Vinnie Reilly from Durutti Column more than anyone else, and it's great music to listen to when one gets tired of the usual guitar riffs, power chords etc.
Ichika-san, your style of playing is so beautiful and emotive, and the tones you draw out of those strings are something special indeed. You're a legend, wish I could've been there myself!
I have never seen any guitar crowd as attentive as this😢😳

This probably isn't even him playing at his best. What Ichika manages to achieve with a guitar is simply exquisite
Lol of course not, he can't film multiple takes in a live setting... The level of technicality is much lesser than his videos - which is totally understandable. All due respect, he's an amazing musician.
Off course this isn't his best, he played outside his room, outside his territory...
@@triviakenny6878 He probably wouldn't be used to playing very loud either. He's probably also nervous as hell
This is exquisite.. *takes another draw from his corncob pipe*
That's is the consequence of being a bedroom guitarist: in his bedroom he is a virtuoso monster, full of shifting takes and dinamic edition, with all the attempts he needs, with all the audio fixes that his plugins provide. When leaving the room and going to real world music, live, plugged into an amp at high volume, with the audience watching...then the guy gets scared, cautious, afraid to play...much less than it shows in his channel's productions. The "bedroom" is killing musicians these days.
