      While Shenzhe's hospital facilities are among the best in China, doctors in Shenzhen are the shitest through out 1st and 2nd tier cities in China, it can't even compete with some 3rd tier cities.
      If one has rare disease or serious chronicle disease it'd be better go to nearby Guangzhou.
      I personally think The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital is the best in Shenzhen.
      And it's better to choose doctors that have a good university background.

  • @MASMIWA

    Wow, this hospital seemed more like a mall than a hospital. But, you are right, the hospitals are really computerized and tests are done quickly and results also quick. Your QR code is key to your identity so you get the right report and costs are significantly lower than in the US. China doesn't have universal health care, but a hybrid. Most workers and seniors have health insurance and it pays for most of the cost, though costs, as I said, were much cheaper. BTW, it is up to you to keep your health record, normally in a small notebook that you bring each time you visit. The hospitals keep records of tests done, but there is a small fee if you need them.
    About 5 years ago, I had to rush my wife to a hospital in the US. She spent half a day in the emergency ward and and an oncologist spent all of about 15 minutes to visit. He also asked for a post hospital visit. The hospital charged about $20k and the oncologist charged $10K. I paid cash so the hospital gave me a $4k discount. The oncologist, no discount.
    In China, about 2 years ago, I had to go to emergency. I have no insurance in China. An oncologist plus GP doctors were attending to me over a 3 hr period. I got an IV drip and some medicines. I had a CT scan. The total cost was about $150 US.
    In the major cities, the hospitals are first rate. They normally have western medicine practitioners and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners. Everything can be done at the hospital so GP and specialists are there and each department specializes in certain medical needs. They have 'emergency' and triad selection.

    Chinese doctors are the highest level of medical skills in the world. Because China has a population of 1.4 billion, Chinese doctors have a wealth of clinical experience. Doctors in China diagnose more than 50 patients a day. Surgeons in China can perform 4 surgeries per week. Experience the first in the world. And doctors in the United States earn the first in the world, but they have very little experience. Because medical treatment in the United States is expensive and there is a long queue . Doctors in the U.S. treat less than one-third of the patients per day and month as Chinese doctors each year. Most Chinese in the United States, if they get sick, the first thing is to buy a plane ticket to return to China. Instead of going to an American doctor in the United States. Because they can't wait that long. China and capitalism, marketization . But doctors still have some socialist love, and do not think only about their own income and interests, like American doctors.

    Thank you very much for your video. It's very very nice. Actually such kind of hospital can be found in almost every city in China. I was living in countryside when I was a child. At the time when I had some small sick, we usually visted our family doctor who was also living in the same village. When we had some serious sick, we need to go to the hospital at downtown or in the city. It was not so convenient when I was a child. However nowadays it is becoming more and more convenient to visit a doctor. Especially the public transportation is very convenient in China. You can almost go to every city in China.

      If you are in a hurry or don't like the crowds you can always opt to go to the VIP sections (there is one in several hospitals, I usually go to Pudong East Hospital near Century avenue). It will cost you an additional 300 rmb (50 usd). But you skip all the queues, all the staff speak English, the specialist you need comes to the clinic to visit you, if you need any test one staff will accompany you to that hospital area and most probably will have you skip the queue and finally there is a small dedicated pharmacy where you can pick up your prescriptions (or otherwise some staff will go fetch them for you downstairs).

    As an American I'm astonished you're visiting a hospital at all, anywhere, simply because you're sick. In the USA we don't go to the hospital unless we feel like we are risking dying if we don't, because it's so expensive. And preventative care in the USA is only for the very wealthy, so for most of us we don't catch problems early, but instead only get treated when they have become acute or fatal. A good example is cancer, many types of which can be tested for and if detected early, easily treated. But without preventative screening, we tend to only find out we have it when we have months, maybe only weeks, to live. Or diabetes, a friend of mine only found out he had it "when I woke up and I couldn't see" as he put it. With no preventative screening, he only found out he had it when it became acute. This is why the lifespan of Americans is dropping so fast.

      The positioning of the healthcare industries in China and the United States is different. In China, hospitals are more inclined towards emphasizing their charitable nature. Many diseases can be prevented if detected early, thus averting their progression into serious illnesses that would require more personal and national healthcare resources, considering that China's medical insurance funds are also under strain. However, in the United States, the healthcare sector must also balance considerations of research and industrial investment returns, generally making it more expensive than in China.

If you don't arrive early enough they will fill out and you are turned away. That's for each visit. If need to see a specialist count on months for an appointment. More than a year for any procedure.

    • @jhuang6264
      @jhuang6264 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DennisMerwood-xk8wp If you waited 10 hours in the emergency room and are still fine, it isn't an emergency, it's an Urgent Care matter at most. The cost of living in New Zealand is higher, so medical staff need to be paid more. You can't be paying medical staff minimum wage, because nobody would work there. This is why it takes longer to see a doctor. In the US, if you go to a private clinic there will be no wait time. It really is just economies of scale. China has 94% of its population concentrated in 43% of its landmass, therefore it is much more affordable to see a doctor. The GDP per capita of the US is still 6 times the GDP per capita of China, which means they can spend 6x in medical fees and it would still be a comparable cost. That is of course changing, as Chinese GDP per capita is rising - but with it, also hospital fees. It is difficult to sustain affordable health care, especially in a country with so many people. The cost of manufacturing has risen in China as labor laws become more stringent, which is also why many people are moving to other countries to manufacture goods. If China does become a 'developed country' in the future, it will be hard to maintain this level of affordability without government subsidies, which come from higher taxes. Unfortunately, true communism depends on infinite resources, which is why any society that maintains an economy must be capitalist. I do want to mention, however, that despite the high prevalence of H. Pylori in East Asia, Chinese hospitals were not able to detect it in my blood after three draws, whereas I was able to detect it in Canada after one.

The price was really cheap compared to the states ($120 ambulance, $25 MRI and so forth). My ONLY issue I had with the process is that unlike the USA and Taiwan, you have to pay for each stage of the care process. Ambulance ride, paid right after she was dropped off. The ER administrative processing - you had to pay at the counter. Then MRI scans too. So unless you have someone with you that can pay I can't imagine what would happen to you if you are hit by a car and in a coma.

I had a CT scan done a few months ago in Shenzhen, it costed me about 60 US$ and took about one hour to get the results. On the other hand, since the doctors have to treat so many people, they cannot spend too much time on you, so sometimes, you may not get the right treatment. Now in China, a phone can take care of most procedures. Including online registration, inspection results, payment, etc. At the scene, you just need to show the QR code on your phone to pick up your medication or order a test. No paper documents are required. Your test and medication information will be transmitted to the doctor's computer. But the problem now is that many small cities in China have built fancy hospitals, but there is a shortage of doctors. As a result, many rural Chinese must drive hundreds of kilometers to nearby big cities for medical care, fearing that doctors in smaller cities are too skilled to make mistakes. What's more, the cost of seeing a top specialist in a big city is not much more expensive than a regular doctor, and you can get a super professor's clinic for about $10. So hospitals in big cities are often overcrowded, people have to queue for a long time to see doctors, and some criminals take the opportunity to cheat patients.

      😂🙈 yes, in the UK the NHS used to have short wait times and be the best free health service in the world but then the government decided they could underfund it and outsource services to private companies and now it’s like you described in France. The wait times are crazy, even for serious diseases and you have to book different appointments with different departments and often wait months. It would definitely be easier to book a flight to China for sure 🙂

    Several weeks ago I was sent to ER in Washington DC by ambulance. I fell on the sidewalk of the street and had "a humerus fracture break in the large bone in the upper arm."
    I went in ER at 15:23, and released at 22:53. 90% of the time in the ER was waiting. So the 9 minutes you waited for nothing is really "nothing" compared to my 6+ hours waiting. I had X-Ray and CT scan.
    I have not received the bills yet. I really have no idea how much is going to cost me. I could give you an update as soon as I got my bills.

      My mom visited me in Seattle area from China about 10 years ago. She didn't have American medical insurance of course. On an occasion, she mistakenly overdosed on her regular medicine and felt pretty bad. So we brought her to an ER. We spent about 2 hours in there and the doctor just observed her without doing anything (which is understandable because maybe there wasn't anything to do after all). After a few days we received the bill. $800 for the room, $400ish for the service. So $1200 to buy a peace of mind. Money well spent.

    • @dortiapewpew7445
      @dortiapewpew7445 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @甲賽 Its more complicated in the US. The hospital's billing staff first checks how much does the insurance pay for the person if he has any medical insurance. Then they'll decide if he can be given some write off in the charges. So usually the billing sent to the patient takes a few weeks.

    • @mongweipopp4279
      @mongweipopp4279 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @甲賽 Dortia Pewpew is right, it is very complicated in between services provider and health insurance company. The services provider put everything on the list and submit to insurance company then the price negotiation starts . One importance thing is to identify which party should be responsible for the bills. I fell on the street that was an accident. The place I fell is a public street belongs to city......all kinds of things need to be sort out. I guess that I will get my first bill in about two months. To make the thing more complicated is one of the reason that the Health Insurance is one of the biggest industries in US.
