Hey, historian here, maybe just a quick explanation for the greek terms in the begining: In Greek Mythology you end up in the underworld (Hades) after you die. However the underworld is split into multiple parts, which are being referenced by the Video. Firstly there's Elysium (latin writing)/ Elysion (greek writing): This is where you wanna go, this is the place to be. All the legendary heroes go here and its basically just a endless big party. Secondly there's Tartaros (greek writing)/ Tartarus (latin writing): This is where you definitly DONT want to go. All the really baaaaad people go here, eternal punishment and torture and all that fun stuff. Maybe it is worth mentioning, that the greek afterlife didnt just know "good ending" and "bad ending". Those were only for exceptionally good or bad people, most just got the third option: Asphodel. Not good not bad just an endless open field where your soul can chill for all eternity, think of it as neutral ending. However it doesnt get mentioned in the Video Lastly Gaia is mentioned which means "(mother) earth". Words that contain "Geo" like Geography or Geology are derived from Gaia. So if you wanted to interpret it in a christian sense you could put it as Heaven, Hell and Earth, which thematically resonates quite well with the overall theme. Maybe I could shine some light on the meaning, or at least give my own 2 cents :D
What a great way in dilluting and explaining those principles. What I take from it in context is that Ren doesn't really know wether he's in heaven, hell or earth a lot of the times. Or rather feeling like he's visiting those places consecutively all time.
One reactor had a nice take on all the realms - he said he felt REN feels like he’s drifting between all the realms- heaven, hell, earth and doesn’t know where he is cause he feels all of them.
Ren is a fan of mythology and counter culture authors. He's obviously read (at least some of) the classics and he is full of pop culture references. Regardless of what he's doing musically there's always something I have to look up. If I were a teacher I could do semesters with his music as source material and cover politics, religion, history, finance, psychology... it's really an amazing compilation when you put it together.
There are 5 reactors I have to check in on post ren release in no particular order flawd, vibe, black p, knox and yourselves.. love when you guys isolate stuff. Your passion is infectious, big up from Australia
I love REN’s creative brain! This song is so layered, with his classic education, the lit references, personal health, society, previous song references .. he’s tying it all together and educating along the way while bringing us into his pain and his plan for the future…. Love it!
@@Jason_xofilos For me there's a difference between Ren being sick and Ren being the Sick Boi. At least in my experience with having a chronic illness, there's a constant battle between having the illness and being defined by the illness. I haven't watched the entire Slaughterhouse release live stream yet so idk if he addresses this, but I take this as both an amazing depiction of what pain is like and a big FU to the hold it's had on his life. Once you've had a chronic illness for awhile you come to terms as best you can with the words "management" and "remission". My brain wants to go into a quotefest from his various songs that address this but I'm sure we both got sh!t to do. 🤣
Alot of the sounds Ren makes reminds me of what our UK clubs were playing in my later teens early 20s in the 90s. Ren was born in the 90s this would of been what a very young Ren and his mates were listening to whilst chilling together. There was nowhere like the club music scene in 90s UK other than Ibiza which was run by British DJs. Drum and bass, techno, house music i miss the 90s.
Great reaction, guys! The drums on this song are sooooooooo dirty. New album, yes. This is the title track from the Slaughter House album. I believe the next one he drops is with Chinchilla.
Gaia was the Greek personification of nature (mother nature) Elysium refers to the idea of Greek afterlife, this is not the underworld. Tartarus was a deep abyss/dungeon used to torment the worst of humanity, and as a prison for the Titans.
Great reaction as ever. Another Masterpiece from Ren. Love the way he uses his voice as an Instrument. The logo at the end is Johnson the Bunny named after a Black British Heavyweight Boxer.
(Did anyone tell you that there's a DnB version of Genesis? By Ren? 3 versions; mv, live, and his dnb remix. I can't remember if you've heard Gutter yet - Venbee ft Ren - but that's dnb too. Ren used to produce under the name WUHU. His dnb song Jungle is still on SoundCloud under that name.)
So good. The production on this feels like a film or videogame score. He's really gone haaaard with production recently. I know Money Ties was largely Nayz but Kujo Beatdown was amazing production too.
He vacuumed packed in that thing. He did it because he saw it and wanted to do it. 40 mins he was in there. You guys are awesome with break down with the drum beats. Love watching you get down
I love my art forms educating me. I read Terry Pratchett, not just cos he was one of the greatest writers to have ever lived but also because he drops loads of historical/mythical/literary/video gaming references into his books and I always find myself a little smarter after reading them (and researching the stuff I don't know). Ren does the same thing with his music and I love him for it. xxx
Ren and Kit giving us a very warm welcome to the slaughter house 🔥 The wordplay wizard went off on this one! And he went a little dark too 🖤 An absolute genius at putting his struggles into art. Also while the song was written and the video filmed before his recent health dive, it certainly adds a layer to the experience of this track. Luckily he seems to have gotten through the worst of it as he’s back showing his face on instagram and even did a long twitch stream after the premiere. There were some very emotional moments, but also hopeful ones. Our sick boi can eat rice now! I am so hyped for the rest of the album! 🐰
I was looking forward to your reaction so much. I immediately knew you would be mind blown as me and couldn't wait for the isolation of the tracks. Great reaction!
From a drummer's perspective.... THANK YOU. Been wanting to hear those drums isolated since the premiere but don't have the equipment. Not really into the whole electronic scene, but Ren's stuff just hits different. He uses such simple drum patterns but in almost every song, I'm hearing random and sometimes off-time fills that are so unique. I'm more impressed with that than I am a bangin Bat Country drum cover.
This was recorded earlier this year when his health was improving. During the shoot his eye was badly injured, another ongoing issue. Then the relapse. He very briefly mentioned the pain he was in during the twitch stream. So I'm torn with how much I love this track, the metaphors, messages and the fricking music, and a sense of dread that I can't shake. Nonetheless, thankyou for separating out the bass and drums yum yum, Ren's production is inspired. Really appreciate your reactions.
If you take into account he can sing, rap, play multiple instruments, produces and has a creative influence on his videography he has to be the most complete, all round artist on the planet. With doing so much its quite frankly amazing he never seems to release anything but quality.
I'm LOVING this intro to the new album just as much as I'm LOVING your reaction to it 🔥 Been waiting for you to do this and was hoping we wouldn't have to wait until Rensday! But I want a golden goose egg NOOOOOOWWWW 🤣 Love u guys 🫶 Reaction was 🔥 You guys have soooo much to offer that other channels don't 💪🔥
Hear you loud brother....sends me back to the 90's rave scene - where i patied in Rens fav place Brighton - that bass drop! you darkcore dirty mofo Ren - i LOVE it!!!!
Dang, LOVE you guys!!! Missed this yesterday so this is like the perfect start to this day of thanks, cause many of us are so grateful for both of you and your unique break down style separating and isolating some of the tracks. And your enthusiasm is priceless. Ren drops a new song in an hour and a half today!!! So much to look forward to!!!!! ✌️ guys.
Not going to lie really wanted more from you guys on this one. Not sure what more there was to give but this song is sick as fuck and this reaction was only 12 mins. Love your breakdowns.
aaah I love your reactions! so stoked to hear you isolate those drums, not many other reactors even mention them but I pulled the same face you both did haha :D Side note, have you ever checked out the music of Venjent? He is a British drum and bass producer who uses found sounds (machinery etc) and his videos are insane. Would love to see you isolate some of his tracks!
Rensday! Let's go!! Love ur enthusiasm for Ren guys as always. But just came to say that the rhythm you liked so much at the end was Reggaeton, a latinamerican beat. ❤
Kit is the friend who did the speech in front of Money Ties by the way. Knox says there will be more of her on the album :) It's insane that the guy can be as ripped as he is and still be damn near critically ill.
Kendrick inspired opening. Ren has seen the tragedy of Su!cide (see the video) and it's not going to happen. This comes from a dark place where he was battling his inner demons. Elysium is the best part of Heaven, Tartaros (also an acceptable spelling) is the worst part of Hell, Gaia is mother earth - the dichotomy of the journey between them. The struggle between yourself and yourself. I almost cried when he said he liked the cling film table because it felt like a 45 minute hug....The beat/flow changes are his ADHD so he doesn't get bored. 🤣The Head on a Platter was filmed after he got gouged in the eye with the rusty forceps. He refused to find out who did it because he didn't want to low-key hate them for almost making him blind. There is water flowing from the Right eye (as you look at it) and it's very swollen. 7 sins for 7 Rens. Only Ren can kill the Sick Boi. The Bunny is named Johnson. There is a Jamaican Boxer named Bunny Johnson, the first British heavy weight boxing champ and then there's Watership Down and all of the bloodstained bunnies. Recently Juliet Johnson, the granddaughter of Adams, who wrote Watership Down (originally the idea was from the story he told his granddaughters at bedtime) just had the rights to the book returned to her family through court. So Johnson is a bunny that fights for rights!
Please please please check out 3 songs off his freckled angels album. 'Fire', 'runaway' and 'make my way'. The sounds, bass, drums and lyrics are absolutely amazing and definitely songs that need attention. ❤❤❤
Was wondering if you guys have done rens version of his song "Genesis" done in drum and bass. Its flippin amazing and I cant remember. Ill have to check if yall have. Thanks guys . Excellent as always 😊
Ren said no samples, and he played every sound, every instrument, did all production, and mastered the whole album himself.
It's beautifully layered, yet somewhat sparse and airy where needed. He's an all around artist, lyrical, musical and visual.

Brilliant 👌 thank you for that!
Beautifully said... Thank you for putting the time into this 🥰
Yea never had a rap song go over my head! Had to do the research!😂
Thankyou. I'm very grateful there are people in the Reniverse that will go to the trouble to explain things to reactors and the rest of us.
What a great way in dilluting and explaining those principles.
What I take from it in context is that Ren doesn't really know wether he's in heaven, hell or earth a lot of the times. Or rather feeling like he's visiting those places consecutively all time.
Ren produced, mixed and mastered everything on this new album.
"Homicidal trauma tic". Just the whole story right there. He just hunted and killed off Sick Boi. This is the end of the first chapter.
Words on screen at beginning = Best of heaven - worst of hell - earth
One reactor had a nice take on all the realms - he said he felt REN feels like he’s drifting between all the realms- heaven, hell, earth and doesn’t know where he is cause he feels all of them.
Renegades never get mad at the pause and rewind. 😎

He should be required material for various courses. He could teach so much to children.
There are 5 reactors I have to check in on post ren release in no particular order flawd, vibe, black p, knox and yourselves.. love when you guys isolate stuff. Your passion is infectious, big up from Australia
You're not wrong. I've added Nicole Maria to that same list.
I love REN’s creative brain! This song is so layered, with his classic education, the lit references, personal health, society, previous song references .. he’s tying it all together and educating along the way while bringing us into his pain and his plan for the future…. Love it!
He Killed Sick Boi. Quality.
Unfortunately, for Ren Sick Boi was Resurrected after the shoot.

Check out Ren's drum and bass version of Genesis. It's 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Great reaction, guys! The drums on this song are sooooooooo dirty. New album, yes. This is the title track from the Slaughter House album. I believe the next one he drops is with Chinchilla.
Love the way you two break down songs
Gaia was the Greek personification of nature (mother nature)
Elysium refers to the idea of Greek afterlife, this is not the underworld.
Tartarus was a deep abyss/dungeon used to torment the worst of humanity, and as a prison for the Titans.

This song is so typical Ren. It's musical ear candy with amazing lyrics.
He vacuumed packed in that thing. He did it because he saw it and wanted to do it.
40 mins he was in there.
You guys are awesome with break down with the drum beats.
Love watching you get down
Gated drums, right out of Phil Collins' and Peter Gabriel's work on the Security album. Love that sound!!!
I love my art forms educating me. Love reading/hearing stuff that makes me want learn something. Terry Pratchett is a gem and Ren is visionary❤️
Ren and Kit giving us a very warm welcome to the slaughter house 🔥
