My grandfather would sing this and other tunes, from back at the turn of the century. It was a tune they would sing in the trenches of WW1. The pipes were something he enjoyed!

It breaks my heart that the world fights over differences rather than joins in similarities. I can't imagine this playing over a battlefield and people would choose violence. This is so beautifully calming.
In my opinion, "cultural appropriation" Is one of the most devisive terms in use today. Melding as you do is the cure. Keep playing and singing.

Soldiers in ww1 used to sing to this tune in the trenches, and though I can never remember the actual lyrics to this tune, the soldiers singing will always haunt and encourage me at the same time.
