- Carrie Underwood suffered a scary fall outside her home last year, resulting in more than 40 stitches to her face. In January, she only revealed that she went through the harrowing incident, and now she explained to Ellen why she decided to come forward with details, rather than have public speculation without the whole story.

Yes, I don't understand what the issue is surrounding all of this, but I definitely feel that there's an element of untruthfulness. Why is this whole incident being shrouded in secrecy? Since she chose to talk about the incident, she should give us the complete story. It sounds as if she's purposely leaving details out. I believe this is what is causing people to wonder. That may not mean that she's lying, but omissions of truthful details are lies, as well - because it doesn't tell the full story!
Just tell us....I was working out, running up the stairs, crying and couldn't see properly, tripped over a twig, jumped to avoid a snake, had an argument with Mike and was running away from him, was celebrating and had a few too many cocktails, got out of the pool and slipped on wet concrete, ran away from an attacker, was trying a new workout, knee gave out, etc.....people wonder what the true story is since she chose to talk about it.

Honestly, I think she's an amazing woman. Six months before her accident, I was in a car wreck. A limb from a tree that had fallen in the middle of the road shattered ( in what order I don't know) my lower jaw, left collarbone, my neck about a half inch from my jugular vein. My left eye was also swollen shut. I have a steel plate that goes all the way from the middle of my chin to my right earlobe. I' m still shy about talking about it. Will be for the rest of my life. I have no memory of it, thank God. God bless you Carrie & your family!

She’s probably over talking about it and obviously she doesn’t want people zeroing in on her face looking for the scars. She has been harassed by trolls since it became known she had an “accident “ and only because of false assumptions about her having elective plastic surgery has she chosen to talk about it further.
When she hits that note in "Low" I think of the moments after injury, the focal point of show biz often being the quality of your face, and what it feels like to be violently injured and know your value is sometimes based on something so shallow. have a nice day!
When did she "come clean"? She's been giving the same dodgy answers for months. It's like she wasn't even there, and is retelling a story that's been told to her. No emotion, no real hard facts. Why all the secrecy about it? Why was it necessary to point out specifically and repeatedly that she was alone when it happened? Why doesn't she know how many stitches she had in her face? She's either blatantly lying, or she's ashamed and afraid of something that occurred beyond her tripping and falling on her own.

I don’t know but I am tired of hearing about her accident. It happened a long time ago and she is still milking the situation in every interview. You would have thought she lost a limb by how much she talks about it. You can’t even tell. It is minor. She needs to move on. We don’t care any more.

She was just so weird about the whole situation it made me feel like she wasn't being honest. She was oddly melancholic throughout this whole clip and you could tell she was trying to crack jokes but they clearly just weren't landing/the smile wasn't reaching her eyes. Falling and hurting yourself wouldn't cause you to be so sad especially after she's healed and doesn't have a wound anymore. Starting to think maybe it wasn't a case of hitting the stairs but something different? I don't know.

This was so weird. Her vibe was off the whole interview. And the “accident” ?? If someone just falls and face plants they don’t talk about it vaguely and act like it was a life lesson? Garthia Halbert because of the odd secrecy and people are suspicious of what really happened..and as a licensed health care worker, i admit something sounds quite off re: at least, *generally,* forensically, what to expect from a fall like that vs. what else could require 40 to 50 stitches.
also, her body language while answering Ellen's questions and *the* way she answered them is *not consistent* with what is common/normal with reporting only a fall..just hope if there's trouble at home with that hockey player husband of hers, that she gets safe, asap.. as well all the help she needs.
btw, it's obvious Ellen is also concerned..she told her she didn't know anything but if she did, makes sense she wouldn't say it without proof..and certainly not in front of an audience..but there was nothing but concern in Ellen's voice..how anyone could miss noticing at least *that* much is a puzzlement.

Because at the time they were incredibly secretive about it all except to say that she was alone when it happened. Repeatedly. Every interview at the time was focusing or being directed to the point that she was alone. Not what happened, but her face was very damaged, possibly her singing career was effected, that she needed a lot of stiches (the number isn't an odd number at all tbh, 40 to 50 stitches on a face to make sure there's as little scaring as possible is normal doesn't indicate massive and multiple injuries) but no story as to what happend..... Which makes no sense if all that happened was she fell up the stairs.

Why are people being so invasive about the accident in the comments. Maybe she is just insecure about what happened and doesn’t like talking about it all the time. It could have been traumatic. And the people saying it was domestic abuse... Those are some really serious claims you shouldn’t be just throwing around. How about you respect her privacy and stop going around saying “she’s acting weird” when you aren’t her and don’t know her personally.

Unfortunately being a celebrity and being in the public eye she'll always be under a microscope! It just comes with the territory! And while everyone is entitled to privacy anyone involved with the entertainment industry knows the downsides! And if anyone can't handle fame they always have the option of walking away; can't take the heat get out of the kitchen! Plain and simple! If you have a contract fulfill it or break it! Break it even if you have to pay millions! What's more important: sanity or fortune/fame?
And as for her she has a platform to help others who have gone through traumatic events! Whether it be a serious injury or miscarriage; and in her case both! She has the platform to let others know they're not alone, a platform to give others advice and etc! She's in a position to use her voice for more than just singing!

The weird thing about the accident is she had a picture taken with a fan at a time where she should have had very obvious stitches in her face and nothing was visible. So the accident seems to not have happened at the same time she injured her hand like she said. Which is just a really weird thing to lie about.

@@theresadaniels1989 have you seen the picture? I have. Her face, lips, jaw, etc is all in clear view, and it was very shortly after the accident was supposed to have happened. She would have had visible stitches and probably had bandages around everything as well. None of that was there.
A good plastic surgeon uses stitches on the inside of the wound and then maybe surgical glue to close the wound to minimize the scaring on the surface..
No need for there to be stitches on the outside...
It was still within the first couple weeks I believe. There should be bandages at the very least.

It is very wierd how vague she continually is about this story. If it's a freak accident and you're okay, why not just simply explain what happened?
There are many nasty people who use the internet to bash and pick people apart no matter what they do. Only miserable people do that to lash out from their own unhappy, unsuccessful lives, but people in the public eye end up dealing with that nastiness.
Just because she’s awkward doesn’t make her a battered wife. She’s probably really embarrassed and doesn’t feel like the beauty queen she’s always been. But she is, and she’s awesome and always will be beautiful!
Imagine having to talk about a freak accident that you feel insecure about knowing that people all over the world (hence some of these comments), are going to be judging and critiquing your life and honesty. Carrie is so naturally beautiful that no visible scar on her face would ever take away from her beauty. I can’t see any scar but I can tell she still feels a little self conscious about it. It must be difficult for her to even discuss the fall. It must have been terribly scary for her.

What I don’t get about the story is that she said that at first she thought it wasn’t that bad and went inside. Whenever she ‘said’ where she had had stitches she pointed to her face. I have had pretty bad cuts in my face 3 times in my life (once my face was full with bad cuts, once I had a deep cut in my chin and once I had a few deep cuts in my eyelid and around my eye) and every time those cuts bled like crazy! Every time I bled quit badly for several minutes and my clothes and face and everything else was just covered in blood, so I assume she also most have bled very badly, how can you think in a circonstance like that, that I wouldn’t be bad? I mean unless you are in the medical field or unless you have a lot of experience with facial wounds in my experience, because of the amount you bleed out of facial wounds you are concerned about how bad the wounds are... all three times I have had bad wounds in my face my face and clothing looked like I had been present at a murder scene or something like that...

This has been the oddest thing. Carrie is so private about what 'really' happened supposedly because people talk? Just say you fell and needed stitches. She seems to be so affected. 40-50 stitches tends to alter your face. It may have even been needed to correct what happened.
I fell like this during university once when my foot got stuck in the space between steps but I was able to catch myself and save my face. I would of gotten the same injuries and soooo happy I didn't because I'm terrified of my own blood.

My 82 year old grandma fell flat on her face on CONCRETE and didn't need stitches. Her entire face was black and blue and swollen, so much to the point that she was unrecognizable. However, she was later able to make jokes and make light of it.
I don't understand the seriousness of this fall, unless it's because there's more to the story. She seems so uncomfortable explaining it.

Carrie is a very reserved person. She doesn't have that "IT" factor that many celebrities have that draw people in but she has a great voice and that's why she's successful. Not every celebrity is an OTT extravert.
As for her sadness that people are commenting on, she talked recently about suffering 3 miscarriages in 2017 and thinking she had lost the baby she's carrying now so I'm sure that takes a toll on a person.
She's always said she missed a step and fell. I do think she's milked this story for PR purposes but I don't think her husband hit her or anything like that.

crowdedisolation I don’t think she’s ever liked getting interviews to be honest.I think that’s the only part of her fame she would rather not deal with quite honestly.She’s tired,she’s been under a lot of pressure to deliver on the hype on her album,she was in a German hospital for 3 days with vertigo & couldn’t walk& she did say that this pregnancy is a lot different than her first one,so the morning sickness is probably worse this time around.Her record label is running her into the ground with all of this promotion & if they don’t watch it,she will collapse under the pressure & stress.They are expecting her to do too much in such a short span of time & they never should’ve piled so much on her even if she wasn’t pregnant.
I agree. I feel bad for celebrities who have to do interview after interview, answering the same question over and over, and appear fresh and happy. Add to that a pregnancy....I hope she is getting time off...though if she has a new tour starting in May she's probably not getting much free time.
No. she’s been on ellen multiple times and she acts the same, like very serious. I think she just lacks that charismatic personality you see from most entertainers. I think it’s just her personality. Go look up her other interviews on ellen. Just as awkward.
Anna Wixom So why is it so wrong if she acts so serious?Not every entertainer has to be charismatic offstage as they are onstage.Interviews have never been her forte,out of everything that she does,that probably has to be the thing she likes to do the least.Introverts are not normally very charismatic & they’re probably pretty awkward as well.Trust me,I should know,I kind of have the same kind of personality that she does so I get it.She’s always been pretty awkward offstage,she’s just never going to be the charismatic kind of entertainer & that’s OK with me.Her being awkward & introverted is why people have loved her for so long,it makes her more relatable & down to earth.You just can’t make an introverted person an extrovert,it’s just not going to happen.
This immediately makes me think of when Hank Williams, Jr. fell 500 feet off the Ajax Mountain on 8/8/1975 - he landed head-first on a large rock which basically split his head open from the back of his skull to between his eyes. And the only thing left of his entire head was his left eye!!! Hank went on to explain that his entire head swelled up to the point to where it became the size of a watermelon...and he was in complete disbelief of how much swelling a human head can do!!!
All of that being said...I don’t think Carrie was being 100% truthful about what all REALLY happened with her own injuries! I definitely don’t think it was domestic related (or else, we all would’ve known about it)...but her overall presentation just gives me a hint that there was just a tad more going on than what met the eye!
So....in comparison to the way Hank Jr. shared his accident story, the way Carrie shared her own story was undoubtedly vague!!!

Good question. I saw a snippet of an interview and she mention there was more to it but she wasn't ready to talk about it yet. I wonder if someone pushed her down the stairs and now she is on damage control because it would look bad for her career since she has children in the household. Something's off with her behaviour.

Firstly, don't get me wrong I adore Carrie and think she is beautiful in and out. But am I the only person to see her lips are noticeably bigger? Maybe the reconstructive surgeon opted to add filler or fat into the lips to camouflage the scarring?

Why is it even necessary to mention this? Like, regardless of what happened here, why does it matter if her lips are bigger?
I really just think that might’ve been where she had the most damage or scarring so they tried to fix it. It honestly doesn’t look bad you can just tell she’s had something done.

I fell down the stairs last May and it was terrifying - the baby gate in our house gave in and I just crashed down with it. I looked horrible, also needed stitches, thought I would never look the same again. If I was interviewed about what happened, I would also sound weird. And it's funny how people think she was beaten by her husband - because when the ambulance came, they told me afterwards that they thought right away I had been beaten (before they met my husband) because it looked similar. All the people who say she doesn't look different, why did she say she would, or that she sounds awkward... if you never fell down the stairs, don't judge, you have no idea.

Theresa Daniels I don't need to know any details about her life, actually. However, when reading or skimming articles, since her 'accident' she didn't seem to explain anything to anyone. She was vague from the start so she should not have even pretended to talk about it. She's in the public eye and made it seem that her face would be unrecognizable (so to speak) and then people became extremely concerned. After all this time has passed and I love watching Ellen clips, I was disappointed that she still won't talk about it. I have a millions cuts, bruises, accidents, etc., and I would just be honest. She is beautiful regardless.

I clicked on this vid because it said she came clean about what happened, nope, same falling down story her. Hope one day she really does come clean about it. I just can’t imagine that much injury from a fall, needing surgery on her wrist and so many stitches on her face. But, that’s just my opinion.

Stuff can happen to us so fast sometimes that it can be difficult to put exactly what happened into words. It seems to me that she comes across as awkward because it can be difficult to re-live a trauma as you tell someone else about it and she probably feels dumb for having fallen in the first place. I think with the pregnancies and subsequent miscarriages she suffered her hormones must've surely been out of whack and sometimes hormonal changes can make someone less sure-footed, more clumsy than they normally are, so that may have contributed a lot to the fall without her even being aware of it then or even now as she's re-telling it.
