One of the most informational videos I have seen to date on ornamental grasses. I will continue to follow. Thank you!

Please use native grasses. These are invasive and destructive to the environment.

Please don’t promote these non native, invasive grasses. Only Hamelin dwarf might not be invasive.

I particularly like extra 'help' you're getting from your four-legged friend...also a very informative video!

Pampas grass has become invasive in mild-winter areas of North America. It has also been banned in Hawaii and New Zealand because of its ability to outgrow and displace native plants.

Others are strongly cautioned against also, for example fountain grasses. (Hybrid varieties, (IF THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE BY SEED) would be okay. Watch out for the "runner" (rhizomatous) kinds, too.

Wow did I come to this video many year late! I'm looking for northern cold season varieties, large and small. We had 2 of the last grass variety you mentioned at the end.. This year on our new property I planted 2 more in early spring that already look nice. We moved to property that's mountainous douglad fire and pine forest at 3700ft and have a shory growing season. It's the end of June and 2 morning in a row of 42* last week was our first warm week where our morning temp was 50 and daytime temps 82-90 our weather fluctuates a lot!

what i would find really helpful (anyone?) would be a (20 min+) video of ALL the various types of grasses. best
of all would be a spilt screen, divided into four sub squares showing the following in each of the four quarters:
1: the (pre-flowering) foliage 2: plant with infloresence 3:close up of spikelets 4: the plant as it looks in winter
and finally, full screen video footage of how the mature plant moves/sounds in a breeze (for grass gardeners).

There are some GREAT ornamental grass books out there. Check your library.

    Nice video!
If it grows in Nebraska, it should grow in Wisconsin.

Pampas grass and several others are taking over part of our wildlands. And this one is not something you can easily dig out, or even prune. Giant grasses (such as bamboo) are some of our plants that are harshest and hardest to control. Most ornamental grass websites are MANY YEARS OLD. Know why? Gardening advisers and plant experts have seen these plants taking over their areas. Sale of the worst "spreaders" is now prohibited in some states.
