    Seriously there is nothing like a Ferrari with a gated shifter. These old school Ferraris are the pure Ferraris. Great video!

    The 348 is GORGEOUS! When the 360 came out it instantly made the 355 look outdated and the 348 look ancient. As we get far enough away we start reminding about at that era and all of the sudden we see these cars for their tremendous beauty instead of being the “old & outdated & slow & rough to own” Ferrari.

      Guy in Hobart owns a 348, always had it parked outside his shop. Saw it everyday driving to work. Loved the car, I asked him if he would mind if I took a few photos and to my surprise he wasn’t a piece of shit. Out of every Ferrari owner I have met, only two were good people, the 348 owner and a Mondial owner.

    Ferrari made a lot of changes to the 348 during its life to improve its rather lacklustre dynamics - suffice to say later 348s have got a lot of the chassis modifications that made it on to the 355. The 348 is unfairly derided when even an an early car can be massively improved by some choice chassis tweaks. You should go out and try a late build 348 for a comparison.

    So hard to understand how people can say they don't love a Ferrari. Or sh*t like "crappy old 90s Ferrari!"! Are everyone driving 911 GT2RS? Come on... It is a Ferrari, the 348 may not be be the best, but is better than 99% of the cars in the World. And this Competizione is a work of art.

  • @augustinlaurent1861

    All the chassis upgrades you are mentioning were also made on the spider version. The engine is exactly the same. Only difference is the weight saving and the free flowing exhaust. 190 kilos is the official number but check FerrariChat forum and you will see most 348 owners disagree on this number. So I believe you actually liked the 348 gt competizione because of the badge effect...

    Naw man, the 348 is a stunner. I'm from MIami and was a big fan of Miami Vice and the Testarossa, so all the styling cues taken from the Testa are spot on. I like it better than the 355 styling wise. The 348 is a car that lets you know the era from which it came. That's kind of the point with a classic/vintage car.

    Sam this car weights 1180kgs. So 350bhp is plenty in the greater scheme of things. Your 360 is around 1500kgs for the 400bhp. Do the maths 😎

    13:59 ‘miles better than a 348 GTB’, how would you know? You’ve only ever driven a beat-up 348 Spider. Also, I don’t know anyone who would say ‘that’s just a crappy old Ferrari’. Most people don’t care about cars so wouldn’t notice anything, except perhaps it being ‘annoyingly’ loud. And people who do care about cars are interested the moment they spot the prancing horse.

    Sam, F355 Fiorano’s were not just a “Handling pack.” Some Early F355 Challenge cars were road legal with titles.

    • @auwz66
      @auwz66 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fiorano was uprated steering rack (faster), upgraded PAS pump, front and rear roll bars and bushes upgraded, suspension ECU upgraded to Challenge item and brakes were upgraded to cross drilled discs but same calipers. For this reason a few owners went for the GT brakes on the front. UK cars were quite rare, only around 16 or so from factory.

    Getting tired of young TH-camrs with no clue or opinions of their own. Jeremy Clarkson panned this Ferrari on Top Gear, so I must pan it too. I think the 348 looks great as well - like a baby Testarossa. Ironically, Sam has a 360, which along with the 430 I consider to be two of the ugliest Ferraris. Each to their own I guess.

    • @petei3972
      @petei3972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gavin, the funny thing is this car has almost none of the modifications Sam talks about. It has slightly lighter doors and sports seats, all the other mods he talks about were on the race cars, not the road-going GTC. And it wasn’t a homologation model, it was a commemorative GTB. So what he drove was essentially a standard GTB with mainly cosmetic changes.......... and he loved it. Perhaps he shouldn’t listen to the rubbish spoken about the 348?

    The 348TB was more planted than the Spider and TS just for its solid roof. A 348TB with a good exhaust, 15mm lower and spacers is much more rewarding than stock. can't compete with the breaks and clutch mind.

    The 360 was a game changer and those that know ferrari know its one the best in terms of looks interior drive ability engineering reliability and its simply the sweet spot between classic and modern. Obviously manual or nothing. This 348 is special offcoarse but its a 348. Looks amazing though

  • @moiluck

    The GT Conpetizione is really a rare car and around 200k nowdays is a collector car aswell. But, it’s not as different as the 348 GTB or even the TB. In fact, any 348 can be lightened, maybe not to save that much weight, but to the point to have a similar driving experience. When I bought my 348, it was bare stock and was a proper Ferrari. Now with a racing style exhaust system, a significant weight reduction and ported heads, it is even better, however it still a 348. Any car can be improved, but F40 seats and brakes, a nice weight reduction and a limited edition badge don’t make it different like night and day. The GTC is a very special rare and collector’s Ferrari, and it still a 348. The 348 performance can’t be compared to actual figures, but I’m sure there will be some day when people stop discredit the 348 just because a man in the past was looking to his place into the company. That bad reputation is not deserved. Nice video anyway!

    What could be done to make the 348 better? I mean if you made it top notch? 458 is fairly good. and the newer ones even better. what if one takes the silhouette of the 348 with it's boxy curves and make everything carbon and titanium etc, round some edges, make the convertible automatic. do something about the rear lights, boost some things like the exhaust pipe exit look, stick some laser or led lights, make the interior revamped and give it the pagani treatment. also the pagani treatement on the non visible portions of the car. and maybe an electric engine to creep around at night.

    The fun fact is, that this version doesn't differ that much from the standard 348 (G)TB. I trully don't understand how you can base your 348 opinions on a few minutes drive with a tired rental car. The 348 is an amazing car and the 3.4L engine as well in the 'normal'348 a true Frerrari high reving engine with quite some punch. The 348 was the first with the lay out as still know it today in the V8 cars and the last model Enzo himself was still involved with. The best old school analog Ferrari you can buy.

    "....while we are in this car with only 350 horsepower" ? WTF? That's a shit load of horses dude. Maybe not compared to super cars of today, which all have too many horses, but compared to normal cars of even today, 350 bhp is a ton. Especially in Europe where most cars are lucky to have 120 bhp!!! Talk about a posh comment.
