Does it get any better than Knight and Vitale-BABY! Two absolute legends in college basketball!! To see them together again at THE Assembly Hall on February the 8th for basketball day in Indiana was wonderful!! Not a dry eye in the house!!!🇺🇸🏀
Back in the late 60's coach Vitale ran the Garden state all star basketball camp at Paul VI h.s. in Clifton N.J.. He taught us so much about the game. His passion for the game knew no limits.
Dickie V's Parents were much like mine as far as how you treated others! My Folks told me and my siblings constantly through life to "Always Carry Your Manners With You At All Time"!! This one rule has served me well through the years! Salute Mr. Vitale
I hope everyone listen to what he said at the end of the interview. like he always said oh oh!! unbelievable, unbelievable!! Thank you sir and God bless you.
I've never been much of a fan of Vitale, but that ending part was wonderful. A great lesson and inspiration. I hope I can measure up to that, but I need reminding
I grew up and spent most of my life in A.C.C. country. I remember the first time I heard Dick Vitale. I thought he was a "bit much." Today, I wouldn't change a thing about him. He is known for being who he is and treating everyone the same. That is high praise in his field, or in life.
This just explains what kind of a clowned out situation this really is... Hell the Naismith Hall of Fame is so easy to get in that IM IN!! and I've never played basketball, and so is my dog and Grandma...
No, he is not the best commentator ever. He talks too much. He says the same things over and over again .... each game. He talks about the game as if the people watching are watching a basketball game for the first time. His voice is terrible and his humor is lame. ESPN needs to get someone else. What's worse .... to hear him tell it ... Duke is the only school playing basketball and Krzyzewski was the 2nd coming of Christ.
wally post I still like him. He's got a great life story and oversized bags of charisma. I grew up in the 80s listening to him too, so he goes way back for me personally.
You can like him all you want. His life story might tug at your heartstrings, but, he is relying on his "Dickie V" schtick to get by now, when he has "seen his day" and it's over. He offers nothing new, he talks too much and says nothing, he is not "informative" regarding the game, his "dipsy doo dunker roo" stuff is old and hackneyed. There are plenty of "new" commentators who pattern themselves after "Duke" Vitale .... which is, in and of itself, laughable.
BOBBY KNIGHT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT IN PRISON FOR THE CRIMES HE COMMITTED AGAINST THOSE STUDENTS. AND ESPN AND OR WHOM EVER HIRED HIM AFTER BASKETBALL ARE A DISGRACE!!
Well for someone that you can't stand and is disgraceful. Sure, has a lot of people that talk about all the wonderful and life changing things he has done .I guess all I can say is opinion's are like ass holes every body's got one.
My goodness. If the man had a voice I could tolerate, I doubt I would still be a fan? Too much screaming bs, for me to handle. Though, good luck, it seems you have thousands of fans.
Maybe Knight can show us how a choke hold on guard Neil Reed was a teaching moment.John Wooden had it right. He said "I would never want him to coach someone I loved"
Bobby Knight? I stopped being a fan when it really counted, way back in the late or mid 80's. I saw this near one hour interview, awhile ago, and after he was [ finally ! ] fired. He squirmed and squirmed, trying to make a legitimate excuse for his brutal actions, taken upon his players. What did Knight do in this interview? Did he take full responsibility? Did he show compassion for those personal actions, taken upon his players? The man exposed the man he is so very explicitly, he could not have done any better. A coward when faced with overwhelming truths. A complete liar. A thorough liar, from head to toe. A through, despicable human being. One thing I do like about Knight; he loves himself so very much, he cannot tell it like it truly happened. Those happenings? And speck of truth that made him look less King, like.
lnteresting, when Landon Turner the starting center on Indiana's 1981 national championship team was crippled for life in a car accident after he was done with Indiana basketball what did coach Knight do? He raised 500,000 dollars and kicked in 60,000 dollars of his own money to build Landon Turner a wheelchair accessible home. Alot of people who pretend to be nice and are more highly thought of because they are inaccurately portrayed as good people would have said that's too bad and kept on going. Knight has very quietly done alot of amazing things for people that no one will ever know about. Meanwhile those who pretend to be good people will keep getting credit for being something they are not.
What a great story. Loved how Bobby went out of his was for him and it was so deserved

Dickie V is great, and Bensinger is really a young classy interviewer.

That should be shown to every High School student in America.
Funny how you'd NEVER hear the MSM talk about Knight doing something like this...
“Dick don’t tell me what to do” ..no one tells Bob Knight what to do lol

wally post No offense, but I still like him. Is that allowed? You sound like it's not.
Again, you can like him all you want. No offense either. Just "telling it like it is."
Dickie V is the man!
