They had so much stuff, that they bought another home to furnish. Unbelievable treasures in this hoarder's house. We find Waterford, Wedgwood, Villeroy & Boch, Orrefors, Wilton Armetale, Beatriz Ball, and many other top tabletop brands. Estate sales are a great way to furnish a home and find affordable gifts. After this exclusive preview, I will take you along the first day of the sale. See what I score as the doors open!

I once knew a lady who was a hoarder. She had a deprived childhood and hoarded food as well as household items and clothing. My friend would talk about her terrible childhood occasionally. She kept a book from her childhood in her nightstand. She said that book was her only friend when she was a child. My friend passed a few years ago. I hope both my friend and this lady of the house have found peace.
Sad to hear of your friend. That book was her most cherished item. Hope it was passed down to someone who could understand its value.
Via the estate sale, the owner made it possible for others to afford high end things 😍

This was definitely a mixture of excitement over so many beautiful things, but the further into the video the more I felt anxious about the sheer volume of stuff. So many things. I love shopping, I love getting a good deal but dear God, this was absolutely someone that was ill. Im so sorry for her family's loss... and for the lady herself. You chose some great pieces.
Alternate uses - I fill a beautiful punch bowl with crushed ice for beverages. At Christmas, broaches can be clipped right onto a branch of a Christmas Tree or to a ribbon garland. LMB thanks for taking us along! The Lady of the House had great taste in everything and she will be happy the buyers will enjoy her things.

I can’t imagine a person just buying everything they want but in the end it affords pleasure to so many other people. My goal is to shop an estate sale. I am not a person who wants to wait on line for things though. Thanks for sharing
Wait a minute LMB….I had to stop the vlog and make sure I heard you correctly, no one lived in this house, it was used for storage??!! Wow, my curiosity is peaked, I would love to know the story of the woman who owned all these items, I bet she was fascinating! This was a great trip, I’ve been off the estate sale scene for awhile, the prices were just sky rocketing in my area. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise as always.

Sadly, the lady passed away two days after a headache. Just awful, and then there was the hoard that her husband is dealing with. They lived overseas a few times and ended up using this house as storage instead of company paid packing and storing offsite. They bought a huge coastal home and lived an hour away. The out of control hoard is like something I have never seen. There was no room to sit on a couch when the estate sale company started. So very sad. I could barely eat my lunch after filming. It was depressing.
@@LadyMaryBeth I was overwhelmed as well. I went digging under the kitchen cabinets and pulled out some amazing bowls. Bought a green teapot with a bamboo handle. Made in Portugal. I also bought the quiche plate and several other items.

@@LadyMaryBeth I can tell this experience was different from other times you have shopped at estate sales. I feel hoarding/ shopping can be an addiction. I hope this woman rests in peace. She did have wonderful taste.
Welcome to my life…my sister passed away and this is very close to what we have been working on for a year now. Overwhelming is right. I love when you said “it was bought for her pleasure and she never enjoyed it”…bless her heart.
I really don't understand that kind of mentality, you work hard all your life, you buy things that you like but you don't use it, they just sit there gaining dust waiting for a special day, to me every day it's a special day so I use everything, I don't keep the special things for visitors, I payed for them, you can bet I'm gonna use them.

I know my sister was very sick the last 20 years of her life and it seemed to get worse every single year and she shopped to feel better because she could do that from home. But the things she bought…they weren’t for others, they were for her to look at once in a while…I could open a storefront…and I still may.
The lady of the home had wonderful taste. And, she must have enjoyed the experience of shopping. Further, she provided others with the opportunity to share in her shopping experiences. Thanks Mary Beth for taking us along. (As you mentioned MaryBeth, quite overwhelming) but fun for us to see from a distance.
An astonishing amount of things, hopefully the family is able to sell most of it. I know that it is a big job downsizing an estate.

I go to many estate sales..now we have plenty of pretties...( not like that lady) but plenty. Now we get cleaning supplies, paper products, winter coats for the poor, occasionally buy clothes but when they are one dollar . I got a brand new pair of white jeans for one dollar. For people like her it is the thrill of the hunt, not the actual item. Unfortunately, people's things go for practically nothing the last day around here and the family members get upset. Nothing much goes up in value anymore and young people don't want alot of stiff usually and not their parents stuff. They are smart in a way. Enjoy your stuff but don't make it too important is my motto...

I gravitate towards Chinese Yixing pieces,they brew the most beautiful Gua Pian,a type of green tea.
Also,I have a most cherished glass lemon reamer,a wedding gift to my grandparents from 1936.
I use it regularly,lovingly,with limes.
It has a most subtle Art Deco feel to it,it is indescribable.

Lovely Mexican pottery and glassware. Gotta come to Texas with empty luggage! Yes, at least start with white dinner and tea dishes etc. Easy to add to the collection. Wonderful items but also so sad in many ways. Amazing chess board….although I am a backgammon player myself. X

Oh my word. I'm overwhelmed & I wasn't even present. Why would someone have to buy/spend so much to excess? There are so many needs in this world where her money could have been put to good use. I wonder where she resided since this was her storage place. Unbelievable. Makes me so sad to think of this ladie's life. 😢

The circumstances around this sale are sad, bewildering and a bit upsetting. I can only say that her husband is doing the right thing so he, himself, can move forward.
I hope all are happy with their purchases and maybe her hoarding can be interpreted as ultimately helping others.

@@cathysilva5011 It’s not a big public story, probably one that happens more often than we realize. Many overseas moves and shopping sprees. It was kind of out of sight out of mind when stored. Sudden death and then the husband was left with a house and storage units full of stuff.

There will be another one at this address in about 6 weeks. At first, I was feeling bad and that I have too much stuff. As we got further into the house and learned about more hoards, I realized I am still in the safe zone. Barely!

Quite a few recognizeable items there !
First the chairs.
🧡I've got those.
(Dark ones).
They're part of a suite.
(3 seater sofa and 2 chairs).
They go with a glossy 1950's teak table.
(As in multiple layers of laquer).
🤍Milk glass planter.
(Mine is square. With grape motives on the sides).
It holds a purple orchid.
Stood in my white bath with limestone floor...
🩵And plenty of heavy lead crystal.
(My grandfather, born 1904, kept oranges in a low wide bowl with sharply cut edges).
All inherited from my grandparents.

I display pins on decorative pillows. And at Christmas I put my Christmas pins on Holiday pillows. I love seeing them as I can't wear them all at once. Interesting video. Must be hard to decide when there is so much.

I did a search and found the same in eBay for $150. No brand was identified, but I am still searching.

I'm forever going in different directions on TH-cam, so I've missed your channel for some time. Glad I'm back! Wow, that was a lot!! I enjoy collecting lots of different things too, so I suppose, it could be easy for some people to easily get carried away. I have to remind myself at times to donate or regift pieces, bc it can add up very quickly. I just wish I would have started thrifting sooner. Instead of buying brand new pieces that are made to look old & cost more, I actually find true antique/vintage pieces that I really want & love more. Thxs for sharing!
