You give the best and simplistic directions that can teach an uneducated person the correct way to utilize GIMP. Keep it up and put more tutorials up

I'm new at using Gimp. I did the rock tutorial with a bit of ease. This one was much more complicated, IMO. I had to start over more than once and finally achieved a good looking product. I'm sure my difficulty is due to my using the latest version of Gimp as the interface doesn't look the same as in the tutorial, and just getting used to using Gimp as a whole. Your teaching style is very structured which is what I like most...anyway, thanks for the tut.

Excellent! In spite of I do not speak your language, I understood all the same your video (letters remain black by putting the mode of the "normal" filling but by putting the mode " Color erase " the result is as your.
    BRAVO and thank you

I have used gimp for very rudimentary color fills. I am truly amazed that with simple tools and a few repeating clicks that this can be done. Now to experiment. Thank you for detailing this process.

In case anyone else had the same problem I did, at 11:15 after selecting Noise>HSV Noise my screen went to a yellow/olive color over the black. At 11:41, I didn't have a black background and white foreground, I had black & yellow and more smoothness and yes my foreground & background colors were set to black & white. After messing around with it, I found that at 11:38 before hitting ok, click the background color button (should be set to white). This then gave me the white snow flake effect. Also up the Flare effect for larger snowflakes. Other than that this guy is one if not the best on here for GIMP tutorials. Two thumbs up. I would not have been able to do this otherwise.

Thanks so much. You are very inspiring with your well made tuts ! I think the biggest problem is to know what the gigantic amount of filters does and how to combine them or use them to achieve a specific effect. You show us the tip of an iceberg what Gimp can do. Thank you very much ! Best regards - Mike

Thank you for a great tutorial. Clear, concise and very easy to follow! It is almost magical watching the final product take shape from unexpected layer modifications and tool usage.

  • @luvaknotah8r
    @luvaknotah8r 11 ปีที่แล้ว

There is a workaround for the flame. First, make a new layer, fill it with a color or gradient you want to use for your flame. Then make a new layer for your flame. When you open the flame filter, you can choose your color/gradient filled layer with Colormap at the bottom. Pretty much what CogitoErgoCogitoSum was saying.
By the way Tutor4u, thank you for the tutorials. They're thorough and pretty darn cool.

I tried this one but I messed up sometimes around the flames and clone tool because I obsessed so much about the perfect cracks *rolleyes* that I started messing up the layers to a level that was not fixable anymore. Might be because it is really late and I just did 3 of your other tutorials. I'll try again tomorrow. Can't be that difficult. You explain really well!!

Good video. Had to go back and forth a few times though. You might want to pause so people can keep up. Also the cursor got lost sometimes and I couldn't figure out where you where - might want to make it a circle so people can follow it. Had fun doing this. Thanks.

This is such a great tutorial. Thank you so much for taking time and giving us the lesson at a slow space.
I almost can do every step you showed in the video, except for one step at 4:14 when you press the "Delete" key board to make the text transparent. Since I can't do that (nothing works on my text when I press the delete key board), so when I set the back ground to blue, the text appears in black color still. Please help me out of this problem. I am using Mac.
    Thank you and regards.

The Flame filter does not appear to be working properly in GIMP version 2.8.4. I checked and it looks like this problem has been reported to the GIMP developers. So, hopefully it will be fixed in a future release. For now, If you can find an earlier version of GIMP, like version 2.8.2, then it should work fine.

Great video. It took me several tries to get it mostly right. I don't know what step I missed but my text turned out black instead of blue. Don't know if you can tell me which step I missed. Also, some things seem a little different between Windows and Mac, but then I am new at Gimp.
Thanks again and I look forward to your next video. Do you have one for curved text?

Filters / Render / Nature / Flame didn't work for me in GIMP 2.8.4 The help did note that it's broken for 'larger images'. I just got all black when trying to do the flame filter....so I picked another filter instead (I did Filters/Render/Lava instead; did the find edge/invert as otherwise shown in the video. looks good).
