    So beautiful, and spacious.
I've always had small kitchens where I live, cannot even imagine having a beautiful kitchen that size.
Reckon I would do a joyful happy dance, for I love kitchens and the look of them that some homes have, round here.

my parents have a breakfast bar they never use, but whenever I visit I have a chat with my mum whilst she cooks :) so yes it will probably get used more often when your kids are older!

I love this "house-y" stuff! We just don't have houses like that in the U.S so I find it really fascinating to see a modern family make such big, old house their own.

The entire time you were talking about your Aga, all I could think of was "Posh Nosh." Your kitchen looks hospitable, well appointed with storage and gear, and roomy enough to serve as the core of family life, but without the pretense of utility of such kitchens in new homes in the States. It has authentic charm, and I envy your having such a space at your disposal: Oh, the industriousness I would display in that kitchen if it were mine! : ) TFP!

Hi Ruth..after searching for baby and toddler routines on you tube
    I found your channel
    & now
I'm a huge fan trying to watch everything you have posted.
I'm having trouble following because you share different things on different sites.
I can't imagine how much time it takes you to do it all let alone keeping track of it..
you seem to be a very sincere person modest and down to earth and it's a refreshing change from other loud fake and self obsessed channels

Lovely kitchen tour. I too love mid-century modern design. It’s true the most space you gave, the more crap you accumulate. Once I reached my 50’s, I find myself starting to throw it all out. I bought one of those litter boxes recently on Amazon, two of my cats use one, one unfortunately doesn’t, so have to keep the old model. Love them. Definitely love to see more room tours.

Love the snippets of your home; it looks a beautiful place! The breakfast bar will be great when the children are old enough to help prepare dinner and it’s great for helping with homework if you’re cooking. Your laundry has space for a boot room section, such as a drying cupboard for damp coats/scarves and even a very large sink for washing pets if need be so you won’t miss that hideous add-on outside the kitchen window.

Use your good cutting boards!!! Life is too short; that's what they are meant for. Also, they are replaceable, and using them will bring pleasure. (And I liked hearing about the Aga - I live in Texas and wanted one 18 years ago, but that wasn't happening, so.)

Ruth, I truly died and went to heaven watching this video. Your kitchen is to die for and, personally, I would LOVE to see the whole house/garden!!! I know the heat from the Aga is a bit much in the Summer but in a house of that age and size it is a necessity during a long cold Winter especially during a power cut! I have a dresser full of blue and white including Burleigh, which I love also. My laundry room is actually bigger than my kitchen and I laughed at your comments about the clutter, everything gets dumped in mine! Really looking forward to more of the same oxox

  • @AThousandWords
    @AThousandWords 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Love the housey type stuff! On Instagram I saw you were asking about what the room originally was that has the servant's bells in. Not sure what kind of response you got but I think it was the butler's pantry - he would have had details like the crown moulding, and the actual dresser unit is where he would have kept the silver etc.

What a beautiful kitchen! Our breakfast bar is used mostly when we entertain. It's funny how everyone seems to congregate there. So, I gave in and set up the wine and drinks there with something for them to nibble on. Fortunately, in the Summer guests end up in the garden, only after they spent some time behind the breakfast bar LOL
PS I love these kinds of videos! I am modernizing my house in terms of lamps and "bits and bobs." I lik seeing your art and other decor for ideas.

Ruth, I love your kitchen but I totally get the point about it not being quite your style but nevertheless a beautiful kitchen. In time (I am sure you have already thought of this), a coat of pain to the cabinets and some different handles would make a big difference for not a lot. Even just the handles would make it less "country". Thanks for showing us!

Love house tours, in particular this one. Please do more!
I was curious how you arranged the litter box situation, since I couldn’t imagine you putting it in the kitchen as is.
But of course, you have a very useful laundry room. Sigh! Slightly envious of that. :) I adore my kitties, but my ground floor is pretty much open plan and I don’t want to see the boxes all the time.
So this week I’ve built my cats a cabinet/lowboard in which I have their two litter boxes, which they can access through a hole.

It's so weird how people use their space differently. In my parents house, we only use the dining table for Christmas or when the extended family comes over, we ate daily at the breakfast bar. In Australia, people would look sideways at you for calling it a Utility Room, its a Laundry here! Nice room anyway, thanks for sharing!
