Ceausescu was magalomaniac making that huge building , considered no.2 in the world after Pentagon , ended in 1986 ,also under this "House of The People" called back then is a huge anti - atomic bunker ! in the present is not Open FOR TOURISTS to visit this bunker , that means is still "operational" for nowadays leadership of Romania
Very nice videos about my city, Mario! I am from Bucharest and I grew up in one of the apartment buildings close to the Art Museum. After the Revolution of 1989 I moved to Italy and I lived in Reggio Emilia and Rimini for a few years before I moved to the US. It was nice to see my city through your eyes. Thank you! I wish you good luck and many subscribers!
Hi Mario. Romania was and is a very nice friendly country. Been there for more than 30 years. The problem are two-fold: 1: the government have sold out of their natural ressources to foreign companies for cheap money. And 2: They think that the EC is beneficial. The problem with videos like this is, that those "travelers" are looking for food and beer... There is always a lot more than meets the eye. At 4:00: It's a court house for Bucuresti. You need to go to the mountains. Most untouched in Europe, apart from all the illegal tree cutting and the 16400 bears, which are both very real problems (as of September 2024). When you are close to the Parliament, there's no Metro nearby. Either go to Eroilor (after the Opera) or the opposite direction to Piata Uniri (with all the fountains) and take the metro there: Uniri 1 or Uniri2. It's that big. Or the Izvor in between. No worries, none is far away. And there are also a lot of trams and busses, if you don't want to walk. I absolutely love Romania - it is my second home. Kind regards.
Thanks for the comment and for the explanation! Would love to visit the Carpathian Mountains some time in the future and I will do so! I am sure it’s pretty impressive 💯😃
@@RoamingMario Mario, many Romanians suffer from a superiority complex, and they tend to exaggerate things. Ceausescu lied to them for a long time about how Romania is the best at everything, the first in the world at everything, the most beautiful, with the smartest and most educated people. Of course it's not true, but older people still believe the lies they were told when they were young. Try to fact check anything a Romanian tells you. Including me :)
The building is not even the second biggest in the world. It used to be in 1990. Now it ranks 7th or 9th depending on what you take in consideration, its area, its weight or its volume. A lot of bigger buildings were built in Asia in the past 30 years.
Thank you very much for your kind video. As a romanian in the 90s we were always portrayed as backward, extremely poor and second class citizens of europe. It means a lot for us to see people like you speaking the truth.
If this video made you proud to be Romanian then West of Europe is right ! We are still backwards in so many ways, 48% of the Romanian society is illiterate and we are seen as second class itizens in europe cause we portrate ourselfs as such...Do you think Romania has a healthy SANE society hahaha Oh and almost forgot , this kind of videos are being paid by the goverment so don't jump in the idea that he or many other care to actually discover Romania !
Ciao Amici miei! New video from Bucharest! 🇷🇴 enjoy! 💯💯

Wow! I didn’t know about the bunker..
@@RoamingMario a full bunker with everything inside to live there for many years...5000 (five thousands rooms) !!! 7 levels !
That’s mind blowing 🤯 it’s huge
@@RoamingMario There is no bunker and there is only one huge floor under the building. It's a parking lot and many maintenance rooms.

Casa Parlamentului este sub pamant atat cat este si deasupra solului!
I can only imagine how big it is..
@@RoamingMario Are sapte etaje sub pamant! Este cea mai grea cladire de pe Terra. A fost cladita exclusiv cu materiale din Romania.
@@dancoman1798 Nu are 7 etaje. Are o parcare subterana si atat. Restul sunt inventii de pe timpul lui Ceausescu.
