Hi Eli! The reason they’re called “pillow” is because their design purpose is for holding pillows to your bed so you can easily flip them to the cool side. Hope this helps.

Legit, as I was watching this, I was worried you didn't have it copyrighted because of how good the physics are. Major archery companies will likely use this design at some point, and you have an opportunity to establish generational income through copyright claims.
It's that good. Compounding elastic force, multiplied through pullies.... like....archery companies are going to be all over this design. Protect yourself and talk to a copyright lawyer, because such a brilliant and creative mind deserves it. You've done nothing but produce wholesome content from the beginning. You're the perfect blend between science and fantasy and DIY.

I think the green things on the bearings are probably covers for ports to lubricate the bearings, either a grease zerk fitting or a hole to put oil in

Eli this is easily the coolest build you have ever done. I LOVE watching the evolution of your builds over multiple episodes to find the best way to solve the problem. This batista is a BEAST. You seem very happy and that makes my heart sing. Keep going man!

Being a tinkerer myself, I loved the whole dang video. Great tip about dividing the circle into three. And I laughed the whole time!! 👍🏽. Hell of a bow!

PVC is not what you want for this; it has a tendency to shatter. just wrap the bundle in something lightweight. fishing line or thin cloth, have collars at the end for pulley attachment.

Wow your welding's improved a lot! If you're looking to go further, just remember: "A grinder and paint make you the welder you ain't!"

The little green things on the pillow bearing are grease fittings for lubricating them without taking the bearing completely apart, you'll need a grease gun to use it though

So I know I'm a little late. Just started watching the ballista build. Had an idea on how to make a sturdy bow without the fiberglass core. Instead of using the pipes as pipes cut them lengthwise and using a heat gun you can flatten them. Then laminate the flat PVC boards to reinforce it. I've actually done this to make a cosplay sword look a little sharper without using foam

I’ve really enjoyed seeing you work through the engineering process on this, solving problems as they arise and finding new solutions. Great content keep it up

I personally want to see the crank loaded into the chuck of a power drill, the trigger set to release when fully cranked back, and a gravity fed magazine above the rail for a full auto ballista

If you go to a auto parts store they sell bushing material. 3/8” long bushing used to be used on older Chevy alternator and power steering pump.

Gotta love how you made a bunch of the design choices mainly for function and achieved a super cool aesthetic.

dude, I'm watching you since weapons 2 i think ,basically since you started and watching you building ACTUAL complex machinations and using actual critical thinking to solve problems make me so proud! this was my fav build!

Love the evolution of the ballista! I would love to see the entire ballista and stand get burnished, sanded and oiled. Just the finishing touch.

if you want to divide a circle into three parts, you can find the center with 2 lines then from the center mark our 120 degree sections.
