- It's gritty, it's depressing, it's cold. It's the best GTA game in the series. GTA 4 features the best physics in the franchise along with solid characters, story and atmosphere. Niko Bellic arrives to America in hopes of chasing the American dream. But instead of being picked up in a sports car, he's picked up in a dirty taxi. Instead of going to his cousin's supposed "mansion", he is met with a gritty apartment filled with cockroaches and naked women nailed to the walls. The city feels endless and immersive with tons of side content to explore, not to mention DLC's The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and the Damned. I was able to pick up and replay the complete edition on a steam sale for roughly $6. SO worth it! Get it before the sale ends! Like and subscribe if you like content like this :]

I cant tell you how many hours i sank into GTA 4 and how many times ive listened to the theme song on repeat. Absolute banger, and will never be outdone.

just finished a playthrough of GTA IV honestly this video is the cherry ontop. Welp, time to hop on the DLCs as I haven't ever touched them.

Shooting dudes in the legs to make them trip so you can shoot other enemies as you're doing a stoppie on a dirt bike and dodging Swat vans that can yeet a sedan into rolling over 5 times as pedestrians desperately try to jump out of the way while attempting to escape the range of the helicopter shooting down at you so you have to shoot a rocket at it but it hits the blades so now it comes falling out of the sky towards you but lands on the cops chasing behind you instead, allowing you enough time to escape off into tight alleyways unseen to get out of the police radius and lose your wanted level under the cover of skyscrapers and dumpsters is why GTA 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. I loved the driving in gta 4, it's one of the most realistic driving mechanics. The way the cars crumple and the weight of the car, people and objects you hit. Me and my high-school friend spent days perfectly tweaking the gun physics and police mechanics, installing warrant and traffic law mods to make the police more challenging.
One thing we discovered is the way the police work. People on the street have different reactions to crime depending on the area your in and police response based on pedestrians action.
They basically have 3 actions. Neutral, where they just stand and interact with the world, noticing crimes, which will trigger them to either ignore you, attack you, or call the police, and the diffent npcs who actually call the police. In the areas with russians, Jamaicans and Puerto Ricans, you can get away with a lot more because people will notice crimes but won't call the police, possibly attack you. In the downtown district more people will call the police and they will flee from crime.
Police won't respond to crimes unless an officer witnesses a crime or a pedestrian completes a 911 call. Yes, COMPLETES a 911 call, you can knock the phone out their hand and the police won't respond.
You can do this by bumping into them, shoving, or pointing a gun at them. Note that this will trigger certain npcs to attack.

No way! First of all, thanks for your comment. This was very insightful. I had no idea about any of this. Being able to knock the phone out of someone's hands to cancel a call is so ahead of its time - especially in 2008 when this came out. I'll have to test this out! I never even noticed witnesses making calls about a crime (much like RDR2)
@bokey Right, it's a super advanced but smooth system that rarely glitches. It's a fun game to run around intimidating everyone into dropping their phones after shooting someone.
Pedestrians feel real and their reactions don't feel random, they react accordingly to situations and it's nice to see it in the wanted system
