- Orakei Korako also known as 'The Hidden Valley, is a highly active geothermal area situated in the Taupo Volcanic Zone on the Waikato River at Lake Ohakuri, which is part of the hydro-electric power scheme. The formation of the lake raised the Waikato River at Orakei Korako by 18m, flooding more than 250 hot springs and geysers. Even with two-thirds of the original geothermal area covered by the artificial lake, Orakei Korako is still New Zealand's largest geyser field and one of the country's must-see natural attractions.

Recommend going in the dead of winter, in the rain. Very few people, masses of steam and incredibly peaceful experience. (Sheltered from wind -wet weather over-gear is enough).
It was 12 °c that day, and it didn't rain. It was difficult enough to get the woman to come with. It ended in an awesome day on the water. I can imagine it will be beautiful with lots of geuthermal activity on a cold winter morning.
Drones need to be operated much more delicately than expected. As much as it can capture stunning scenery and impossible videos, it must be handled with care. The awesome videos you shot are amazing. Very good. I support you. I'll come see you again.
