Keep it up jay, this is the future of entertainment, cable is dead. Love the car show. ;) I have not had cable for over a year and do not miss it one bit, can watch all the latest shows etc. in HD no commercials. I do not mind watching a commercial a the beginning of the program, but not 5 minutes of commercials after every 10 minutes of a program, and then you still have to pay $70 a month, and wait for someone elses schedule to watch your favorite programs.
The Dukes of Hazzard used to do that too. They took clunker cars and used them for the jumps. The cars that they destroyed were basically heading for the crusher anyway.
@@georgejacob3162 That sure makes a lot more sense than taking a perfectly good, new, and more expensive car to wreck it with a stunt you KNOW will damage a car.
If by that you mean him referencing the mini scene, he's not talking about the Italian Job at all. It was either the first or second Bourne movie(cant remember right now) that he does the chase in the girls mini around the city, and as he says down steps and all
Genuine car nut since early days as a youth, to the point of taking low wage labor jobs just to work at a car dealership and saved every issue of Car and Driver he owned. Did he grow up to become a player in the automotive industry? No, he finds his true calling as a comedian and eventually replaces one of the most iconic talk show hosts in the world and becomes a fixture on late night television. Now that is a Hollywood script no one would believe.
Yeah! ...And the other guy said that he hates Computer Generated stunts when the Fast and the Furious film franchise is crammed full of Computer Generated stunts! Like when the Skyline flies over the Toyota in Tokyo Drift and lands without breaking anything! Also when the cars drive through the walls of that mountain cave! I think the stunt that Jay Leno was referring to was the Nicholas Cage Gone In 60 Seconds jump at the end of the movie where the Shelby Mustang called Eleanor soars about 500ft over an accident scene, clips an ambulance with its tyre and then lands with no damage and then drives off leaving the cops behind.
If you do some research, nearly all of the stunts in these F.F. movies are actually done, minus close ups of the actors and some of the over the top ones, SOME. They really did drop cars out of planes. In Fast 8 they really dropped cars out of parking garages, etc.
Cant believe the performance shop right down the road from my house got the chance to have one of their cars built for fast and the furious! Mongoose motorsports in Ravenna, Ohio!
I'm glad us watchers are like-minded people. :) I rarely watch the TV now because I can watch shows like these and other series that are entertaining and educational, without annoying commercials.
lol car is a turd. Honestly the front end of that car makes no sense the entire front end is squares and rectangles yet it has round headlights?? If you could retrofit some nice square headlights it wouldn't look half bad. Hell, even the taillights are rectangles. Still a slow turd, it's better off being a lowrider.
Jay is LEGEND ... he gets to touch, smell, work on and drive ART ! No other Male Human has ever been as satiated. On top of that he Married Well ... His Wife LETS HIM have this much fun. I am so jealous, hope to meet and shake this Man's hand one day.
Actually they did make somewhere around 900 Chargers with a 225 slant 6. I know, I had one as my first car - it was also a 3 on the tree. And I routinely kick myself for trading it away considering how much they are worth these days. Although the car I traded it for was also pretty cool - a 1958 Plymouth Suburban station wagon, (can you say fins?) but circumstances eventually required me to sell that one. Really miss that Charger though.
For Mechanics it is hard to watch a move like Fast 5. It is like watch a WWII move where the Germans don't really speak German they just make German word sounds. But I love the cars which are great props.
Great video love that flat bed theres another video where he gets into explaining how there was another flatbed were the driver drove from underneath and couldnt be seen great job would have loved to no more about that grand national another good one thanks Jay
Just found this channel, Hi Jay! I have a movie car that was used in the background in "Mermaids". It also had it's own close up. "Mermaids" was filmed in Rockport MA, and I lived in Salem MA at the time. The car and I are now in Palm Springs, which brings me to a rumor I heard from Joe Maddalena @ Comic Con. He told me the Space Chariot from "Lost In Space" is in Riverside CA. in someone's back yard, he knows the address.
the fake blower is a nice touch as far as a movie car goes... the first thing i thought of when he said fake blower was mad max.... kinda funny where some ideas go
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the 2nd unit mad max cars. Cool how they have kits for XB's now to build the interceptor! But I remember the Grand Sport from '65 or so that they built to compete with Shelby's Cobras. Beautiful lil beasty! And the wheels are copies of the old Halibrand magnesium wheels that we got the slang name "mags" from.
Why would you want a show on tv. You would have to sit through commercials, and then corporate big wigs would just want the show to be about their cars. Jay has a pretty good thing going on here.
i love hte jealousy you see on some of these videos. heck hes sharing with us his garage and collection. which is rarely done. id say most if not all of us are car afficionados. love the history lessons on each automobile or bus or whatever. and its particular quirks or bad points if any.
Exactly. It's modifying a machine by taking away the main thing that makes it special and replace it with something sort of less desireable. It may be better on paper, but it just isn't right.
wow this is nice..bit disappointed with the way they made the charger though i didnt think they would have done so much changes..the corvette was great
Interesting, the silver corvette was actually a secretly built car. check out this video Chevrolet Corvette 60th anniversary car and drive. it has the original shown in it. Love Jay Leno's garage.
And how does the Mopar community think about diesels? I might not do it if it's considered as blasphemy and get a different car instead, but Chargers are cool and there is something decidedly muscular about the unmistakeable clatter of a heavy duty diesel.
Thank you Jay Leno for making these short films for all us car guys. I'm enjoying watching them.
Keep it up jay, this is the future of entertainment, cable is dead. Love the car show. ;) I have not had cable for over a year and do not miss it one bit, can watch all the latest shows etc. in HD no commercials.

If Fast and Furious wanted legitimacy, Jay Leno would direct and cameo in the movie.
I really respect the fact that they use scrap cars to create/ruin old cars

not really true... I would wreck brand new ones all the time..
@@georgejacob3162 That sure makes a lot more sense than taking a perfectly good, new, and more expensive car to wreck it with a stunt you KNOW will damage a car.
This show is the only show I've ever seen Leno in and I really like him hes a cool ass guy. Thanks for showing us such bad ass cars man!!!
Only thing missing from fast an furious movies is JAY LENO... you da man
##bucklist goals vist jays garage ##
Anyone else notice how cool it looked when they launched those cars!!
If by that you mean him referencing the mini scene, he's not talking about the Italian Job at all. It was either the first or second Bourne movie(cant remember right now) that he does the chase in the girls mini around the city, and as he says down steps and all
I love this one this one was so awesome I don't think there's not one show that Jay puts on that's no good LOL his shows are awesome we love you Jay
Oldsmobile Toronado in the background - dream car since I was a child. Had a toy version.
There's a few videos on his Toronado on TH-cam
If only it wasn't front wheel drive I'd like it a lot more part of the reason I like the Buick Riviera so much
Worked in an olds garage as kid in1968 owner told me all cars would be front wheel drive some day. He was 90% right.Toronado had real style
500 HP Engine in that Corvette Sounded Nice When Jay did that Burn Out
A dream job to be sure...and get to hang out once in a while with Jay....what a BONUS !
Fast & Furious does fake blowers, Mad Max Fury Road did real blowers.
The best part of Jay Leno in this show is when he isn't on screen or talking
I like to hear him talk super chill guy

Leno, I think you need James May as your sidekick on this show!!
He needs to collaborate with all three of them, not just May.
@@joshedillon9534 No, jeremy will try to steal the show with his ego.
Around 7:19 Jay says he hates cars in movies that do impossible things and look fake. Didn't he just describe the Fast & Furious movies lol

Sounds like a dig at Gone in 60 seconds to me. That scene totally ruined an otherwise decent movie.
Still better than the vault scene in F&F
Bread996 the jump scene?

Fast Five is STILL the best one in the group 11 years later!
Pause At 7:42 and in the top left hand corner you can see the flip car fast and furious 6 in the making
I'm glad us watchers are like-minded people. :) I rarely watch the TV now because I can watch shows like these and other series that are entertaining and educational, without annoying commercials.
One of the best Leno's Garage vids yet.
The Monte Carlo from Tokyo Drift is still my fav.

@@riothero313 That's how the car was made back in the 70s, but looks can deceive you
Nice burnout, Jay. No rev limiter - love it.
Once again, I am watching The Tonight Show on my TV, and JL's Garage on youtube.
Seeing that 70 Charger R/T with a Chevy in it instead of a HEMI is REALLY heartbreaking...
Finnegan from RoadKill did that in reverse if you need to undo that. It's called Blasphemi.
Jay Leno is the coolest man on earth
Best way to show cars and the best part of it, u will know, everything u want to know! Thats the way it should be. Just best way to present cars!
My personal favorite two movie cars which happened to both be Cudas, Fireball 500 and Corky.
love the cab-over when I saw the movie that was my favorite vehicle.
Cool to see them still using mostly practical effects.
haha i love how all these dudes are so pretentious about their cars, and jay is just like "lets do a fucking burnout" =D
4:50 to 5:03 One of the most reassuring speeches I've heard from Hollywood.
1:46 rip..
Thank you Jay savings the world one car at a time....
Dennis is a nice guy, he is very humble, and he have a dream job, just like George Barris use to do back in the day

7:20 - 7:29 I bet Dennis was thinking of 2 Fast 2 Furious' Skyline jump when he said that.
I love the mean paint finish on the Charger :-)
rest in peace Paul Walker he died man it sucks was looking forward to some more great F&F movies
Mark C. Not really
Fck him.
I wanna know more on the 71 Skyline at the start of the film...
That Vette is to DIE FOR!
Yeah! Burnouts!!
That Chevelle was perfect, but the chrome on the bottom of the grille looks like it could be straightened a bit.

With a slant six engine, I'm surprised it even crashed.
Good stuff Jay. I learned alot as usual on your show. :D
Thanks for the fun car show
You are right. I recall the scene now and it was the first film. D'oh!
happy to see the Vipers in the background

That fast5 truck is amazing.

At 6:18 it sounds like the camera car is honking for a street race lol
7:54 That Yenko will snap a speedo in about 5 seconds flat
I didn't realize how real were some of the movie cars are. Green hornet Lincoln is amazing.
The green hornet car "Black beauty" was a 1965/1966(They used over 20 cars in the movie) Chrysler Imperial Crown. They were not Lincoln's.

Real men dress for comfort Mr. Leno. You wear what you like.
3:04. I always knew Vin Diesel was a dummy actor!
i've seen the charger once at a car show , damn i'm so lucky
Jay thanks for the review and the burn out.
7:46 That is one fine forklift you go there mister.
Gee I could not dream of a better environment to have a career in Jay, I am looking for a sea change!
