    Dr Khurana, thank you for sharing your videos, and for helping the brushfire victims.

    Thank you for this comprehensive overview! What are the average expenses per hour (without fuel)?

    Great video. Really cool plane.

      Cheers. It really is an incredible aircraft. And, as economical as a Toyota Prius, and I use no leaded fuel! Blue skies to you. Vini

    Great video...you have more safety equipment than I have on my Citation jet...!!!

    • @x88orbital
      @x88orbital  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers, RF. It's tiny compared to your Citation, but I've tried to make it as safe as possible. one key item I've added after this video was made, is an electronic CO detector, for approx. $25. I had a friendly visit from the ATSB (Australia's equivalent of NTSB) to check out this light sports aircraft; they were really impressed with it, and suggested the only thing it needed was the electronic CO detector (in addition to the stick-on CO card I had on board). Blue skies. Vini

    Can you get that same Avionics set up straight from the factory or did you have it done aftermarket once you took delivery of the aircraft?

    • @x88orbital
      @x88orbital  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Factory will set it all up

      Awesome. I would love to have your exact configuration on the "explorer" model which is IFR certified. I'll look into it. Thanks

    Nice thorough video! Can the LSA version have airbrakes and remain LSA?

    • @x88orbital
      @x88orbital  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Check with your country's relevant regulator, but in Australia, yes, this particular aircraft is certified by CASA as an LSA on its VH- register and includes airbrakes.

      In the USA it can. Finished my sport pilot certificate in the alpha trainer with the airbrakes. Love the airbrakes.

    Hi, a cool airplane, too, I think to buy one. How much did this airplane cost if it's not a secret And how much does maintenance cost per year for 100 hours Thank you.

    With all those very nice avionics, what is the empty weight?

    • @x88orbital
      @x88orbital  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      362kg (MTOW 600kg).

    • @stevemarshall5249
      @stevemarshall5249 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm not bad, I thought it might be higher. Have you posted any performance figures? Cruise speeds, fuel burn, that sort of thing? That would be good to see.

    • @x88orbital

      @@stevemarshall5249 Have flown over 100 hrs in her now. These are the real world characteristics I see: Sips 95 RON MoGas like a Toyota Prius. On 92L (24G) max usable fuel, and at a medium cruise of around 120KTAS, I can get almost 1500km (800NM) range burning 13-15L (< 4G) per hr. Slow cruise of 100KTAS burns 12L (3G) per hr. Fast cruise is 140KTAS. Climbs easily 1200-1500 fpm on an average SE Australian day. It's an amazing, ecofriendly aircraft, and the view from the large windows is outstanding. The Rotax engine switches on and off like a Toyota's engine; reliable and no hot start games!

      Thanks for the data Vini, pretty impressive, and good to see some real figures from owner experience. I was an aircraft owner back in the 1990s but it ended rather badly and I have been out of flying ever since. I have liked the look of the Pipistrel products ever since I came across them, and if it ever happened that I could get back into it again, the Virus SW iS would be near the top of my list. I'll keep buying the lotto tickets! ;-D

      @@stevemarshall5249 Sorry to hear about that circumstance, Steve. It's a super safe aircraft to fly when equipped as such and when flown according to the POH. The aerodynamics are quite amazing and forgiving. I hope you win the lotto mate and get up in the pilot's seat again. Be safe and well, Vini

    So many safety equipment items.
    What happened to pure LSA flying?
    Let me guess, you must be quadrupled “vaccinated.”

      No Captain, double vaxed. But, I'm a surgeon and that's what happens when a surgeon becomes a pilot, I guess!. Enjoy your LSA flying any way you like, that's part of how I enjoy mine. Blue skies from Down Under
