    Nice editing job. Which software do editors use for editing these you tube movies? Does anyone knows?

    The Northwest passage, if and when it becomes navigable, will not be a canal, but rather what it currently already is, a passage albeit one which would have less use for icebreakers.

    8:02 Why would a larger ship need more water to raise it in the lock? It would take the same amount of water to fill the lock if there was a big ship in there, or no ship at all.

    • @bru512
      @bru512 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Actually, it would need less as the larger ship would take up more volume

      A larger lock requires more water. Water moves from lock to lock with the ship. Removing water from the lake.

    If the Northwest Passage is FASTER and CHEAPER, Does that mean Cargo Shipping costs will be Cheaper? The cost of goods should be cheaper as well.

    What Marc said!! The North West Passage is NOT a canal, but a PASSAGE! It is deep enough. The problem is ports for maintenance, ice breaking that may be required after storms etc... EVEN in the summer, because much is not always ice free!! We already have a 200 mile limit that means MOST of the Passage goes through Canada. This is international LAW, despite what other nations may say *U.S. Yes, The U.S. has a portion by Alaska.
    Canada already has some ports with minimal access, such as Moosonee, Deception Bay, Fort Ross, etc. Canada is getting closer to adding rail/road access to many of these potential ports, but probably huge financial investments will need to take place....possibly through NW Passage Collective Shipping Groups.
    Peace n Love.

    Why do you feel the need to have such a ridiculous lead photo of a large ship crossing the desert as if on rails? Sure doesn't add much to your credibility. When I first saw this photo, I thought the video was about the work the Mexican Government is working on to provide an alternative to the Panama Canal across Mexico.

      I remember seeing a sci-fi movie where ships (Galions?) were sailing on a sea of sand.

    How about unloading large container ships from Asia at a newly built large harbour in Panama, and then the containers go by fast goods trains over to the Atlantic side of Panama? There it should be another large newly built harbour. And there the containers are loaded again onto ships. Some container ships. Ships going to different directions, e.g. USA East coast and East Canada, different harbours in Europe, etc. That could be both practical and time saving. An Asian container ship coming from China, Japan, Korea, etc. going across the Pacific to Panama can be huge and carry up to 20,000 containers… and because of that, the containers may go to many places along the Atlantic coasts. Both the Atlantic West coast e.g. North and South America and the Atlantic East coast with Europe, The Mediterainian area and Africa. This will be faster due to all problems by the Panama canal. But it will cost somewhat more.

    The recent large expansion of the Panama canal needs much more water to operate. Any small boy can explain this basic fact.
    WHO is going the RESCUE the GIANT SHIPS which will be STUCK FAST in the Arctic and screaming HELP-HELP-HELP!

    Considering the Artic Russian build up and investments in ports and infrastructure in the Russian northern passage; the Canadian Northern Passage is going to be a when rather than an if. The key will be to minimize the impact to the Artic environment & population. Good planning and communication and compensating agreements with the native inhabitants should make the changes agreeable to all. It should also result in increasing the strength of the Canadian military.

    The Panama Canal is experiencing water issues due the adding of additional locks without providing for additional water. The old NW passage is not viable. Once a ship sinks and pollutes the arctic, I will be shut down.

    No it won't. The cargo hasta be unloaded on one end and reloaded on the other. That's an incredible amount of material handling and it doesn't even remain on the same boats. While at the canal everything remains intact.

    Ahh the suezzzz trafficking canal, I'm sure some people remember when that ship got "stuck" right? Hmm and what was found on that 1 ship 🤔 oh and if memory serves I believe there was 27 or 28 other ships containing the same types of human cargo, whatever happened to this "investigation "? Looks like the shipping conglomerates paid there way out of that human trafficking fiasco eh!!
